The noise from the party was extremely annoying. I didn't want to be here but my parents had insisted that I and my brothers attend. In addition to Lysa’s birthday, they were also having a farewell party. After today, they would no longer take part in the decision making of the pack. My brothers and I had become the alphas of the pack two years ago, but my father still helped with pack matters since we had to attend college. My mother also played the role of Luna, because we haven't found our mate. A lot of girls try to throw themselves at us everyday but my brothers and I already had our eyes on someone else. Lianne. When my parents first brought she and Lysa to the house, my brothers and I didn't like them at all. One was mischievous and the other was too timid. But as time went on, we came to like the mischievous Lianne. She was very sharp tongued and each time she's bullied or angered she reacts in the most unexpected ways. I remembered the time she hid frogs in my room one night after I refused to give her back her toy. I couldn't sleep all night because the frogs were too loud and I couldn't find where she hid them no matter what. I and my brothers liked to annoy her just to get a reaction from her. But over the years it changed to bullying. We didn't hate her, we just didn't like the fact that she started hanging out with other boys in school, Or the fact that she stopped giving the reaction we wanted. I'm not even sure what it was anymore… Until two years ago, on her sixteenth birthday, we decided to confess to her, let her know she was the one we wanted as luna. We set up a surprise for her in a cave in the woods. I and my brothers' secret spot. We had waited for her through the night, searched for her but didn't find her. We spent the whole night wondering if she got the message, if she liked us too… Only for her to come back the next day looking like a different person. She stopped talking to anyone, she stopped playing. Stopped celebrating her birthday. Did she hate us that much? What exactly made her change so much? There wasn't mischief in her eyes anymore only fear. Why was she suddenly scared of us? We tried to make her talk the only way we knew, but it only made things worse. The fear turned to disgust, and later there was nothing at all. No fear, no disgust. Just nothing, her eyes were still as water. Cold as ice. She only had different reactions when she was with that b*stard Kaelion, her rumored boyfriend. What does she even see in him? He was just a weak wolf that can't even stand the cold. I got a girlfriend to see if she'll regret it, if she'll come back to us but she seemed so disinterested. So, we stopped trying, only watching her from afar. Praying that the moon goddess will see our heart and make her our mate. Within minutes, I was tired of the fake laughs. The unending praises of Lysa and her annoying face. I stood up to take a walk around the house. I had just gone upstairs to my room, when a faint sweet scent wafted towards me. I knew that scent. This signifies that your mate is nearby. Lianne wasn't at the pack house, I was sure of that. So who could it be? I didn't want any random werewolf to be my mate. I would reject the b*tch on the spot. With that thought, I burst out of my room, my brothers did the same. Their furrowed brows and cold look told me they had the same intention. They'd take nobody except Lianne just like me. We walked down the stairs and looked around but noticed the smell was coming from outside. We exchanged a look. I felt my heartbeat quicken, I could see Cassius expectant gaze, Lucian’s uncertain one. Could Lianne have returned to the pack house? We sped out the door and saw the figure we have been longing for. She knew. She could smell it too. We're her mate. My lips curled in excitement. Cassius had a satisfied look and Lucian…he looked like he was going to cry from happiness. Lianne didn't have any of our expressions. She was in obvious disbelief. She whispered “No” the sound was clear and it made my heart tremble. Then she said something that sent my wolf into a frenzy. She rejected us. “F*ck” Cassius cursed under his breath beside me. Lucian's breathing turned uneven. We didn't need words. The three of us felt it. Our mate had just rejected us. “We don't accept your rejection” we said. And I could see that she didn't expect that. What did she expect then? That we would accept it? No, Lianne Noctis. You're stuck with us forever. Suddenly, she swayed and we all ran to hold her up before she hit the ground. As I held her close, I could smell it…the scent of another male. Kaelion’s scent precisely. My eyes darkened and I pulled her closer. The scent was too strong on her. It wasn't just on her clothes, it was all over her body. I didn't even want to think of what the two did together. Goddess help me, for if I see the bast*rd, I'm going to bite his head off. The smell of blood wafted over, and that was when I noticed the blood trailing down her chin. Panic surged within me. “Why is the blood not stopping?” I turned to my brothers.LianneI didn’t sleep. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw it again. The glow and the way Kai just stopped hurting.By morning, my head was pounding. I got up anyway. Staying in that room wasn’t going to help.I took a shower and prepared to go to my part time job. It wasn't my shift yet but I wanted to speak to my boss first and maybe take some more time off.The moment I opened the door, I knew I wasn’t alone. Darius was leaning against the wall, arms crossed.Cassius stood a few steps away, pacing like he hadn’t slept either.Lucian was by the window. Watching me.“You didn’t sleep,” Lucian said.I walked past them. “Neither did you.”“No one sleeps when their mate disappears for so many hours and come back looking like a mess.” Cassius muttered.I ignored that.“Where are you going?” Darius asked.I didn’t stop walking. “Out.”Footsteps followed immediately. I sighed.“I’m going to the library,” I said, turning slightly. “Not running away.” I didn't want them to know that I wanted
LianneThe moment my feet hit the ground, I didn’t stop.Cold air rushed past me as I ran deeper into the trees. I didn’t look back. I didn’t want to.“Found you.”My steps froze. I turned slowly.Lysa stood a few steps behind me, arms crossed, like she had been waiting all along. Her lips curved into a small smile, but it didn’t reach her eyes.“I knew it,” she said, tilting her head. “You were never the obedient type.”I said nothing. My chest was still tight from earlier. From everything.“What do you want, Lysa?” I asked. She walked closer, her boots crunching lightly against the ground. “Relax. I’m not here to drag you back.”I didn’t believe her for a second.“You think I don’t understand?” she continued. “Being forced into a mate bond like that… especially with them.”Something in her tone felt weird.“I get it,” she said softly. “It’s not something you can just accept overnight.”I frowned slightly, studying her face. “Since when do you care?”She shrugged. “Since always. Kaelion Once I was sure that she was fine, I dragged my broken body back to my villa.Something was off. I could feel it. Usually my joints didn't hurt so bad until few hours to the full moon.I sat on the couch, trying to ignore it, but the feeling in my body wouldn’t go away. I coughed into my fist and pulled my hand away, my eyes falling on the blood sitting on my palm.I sighed and wiped it on my shirt. Leaning back into the couch, I closed my eyes but then my fingers twitched. At first, it was just uncomfortable. Then it became more intense. It spread through my hand so fast it made me suck in a sharp breath. My fingers started bending, slowly, like something inside them was forcing them out of place.“No… no…” I whispered.Another crack followed, louder. I grabbed the edge of the couch, trying to steady myself, but it didn’t help. The pain climbed up my wrist and into my arm. It felt like my bones were shifting under my skin, like they were trying to become something else.A s
Lianne I didn’t know how long I had been asleep. Or what even happened. But when I opened my eyes, the first thing I saw made my chest tighten. The triplets. All three of them were standing around my bed. Watching me.One of them moved closer. His hand lifted, like he wanted to touch me.I flinched. “Dont— don't touch me.” The disgust came fast but I forced my face to stay blank.Something flashed in Lucian’s eyes. Hurt? I didn’t care.“What are you doing in my room?” I asked, my voice came out dry.“You were unconscious all night,” Lucian said. His voice was softer than the others. “We were worried.”I looked away from him. “I’m fine now,” I said, my teeth clenched. “You can leave.”Darius shifted beside him. I could feel it. He didn’t like my tone.Cassius looked worse. His jaw was tight like he was holding himself back.“Here,” Lucian said, stepping closer. “Take this. The doctor left it for you.”I glanced at the pills in his hand. I took them, swallowed, and opened my mouth slig
KaelionI checked my phone again. No message. That wasn’t like Lianne. She always called me before heading to her part-time job. Even if it was just a short call. She didn't like wasn't money on transportation, so I'll always drop her off whenever I'm free.I stared at the screen, then dialed her number.Switched off.My grip tightened. “That’s not like you,” I muttered.Something felt off. I had been feeling it for a while now. That quiet unease sitting in my chest.I grabbed my keys. “I’ll just go get her.”The drive to the pack house felt longer than usual. My unsteady fingers tapped lightly on the steering wheel. I coughed into my fist and wiped my lips quickly.“Not today.” I whispered. When I got there, the first thing I noticed was how quiet it was. Just as I stepped out of the car, the front door opened and the pack doctor walked out.Sweat covered his forehead. He looked like he had just run a race.“Doctor?” I called. He froze for a second before turning around “Oh… Kaelion
Lucian The crash from the door snapped every head in the room toward it. My wolf rose instantly.Cassius was already growling low in his throat. Darius’ shoulders stiffened beside me, his aura leaking into the room like a storm waiting to break. The door creaked open wider. Two figures stood there. Lysa and Eirene, Darius’ girlfriend.Although we knew that Darius only kept her around and their relationship wasn't really that of a girlfriend and boyfriend, we had a mate now and I didn't want her anywhere near our mate. For a moment no one spoke.Lysa’s eyes were wide, her hand covering her mouth as she stared at the scene before her. Lianne lying pale and motionless on the bed, three Alphas surrounding her, the doctor hovering nervously at the side.Eirene stood beside her, perfectly dressed despite the late hour, her golden hair falling over one shoulder. Her eyes, however, weren’t on Lianne. They were on Darius. An almost imperceptible tightening of her lips betrayed the storm brewi
