The Clarkson Twins

“I wonder why you are in that forest alone. Do you remember anyone who did this to you?”

I don’t know what kind of explanation I should give to this handsome-looking man.

After he saw me curled in front of the cave, naked and afraid, he offered me the thick clothing he was wearing. It was warm and comfortable against my bare skin. He helped me get up but my legs were too weak to walk so he decided to carry me and brought me to this amazing, metal transport thing he called ‘car’.

Good thing I could comprehend what he was saying but I’m not sure the exact words to say.

I kept staring outside the window and tried familiarizing myself with the surroundings. I still can’t tell if I’ve been here before. I want to tell the man that I came inside a crystal. But will he believe me? I decided I couldn’t give him that little information I know so far about myself. I may look dumb because I have no idea what kind of world I’m in. But I have the notion that I should not trust anyone, even this young man beside me. I’ll just let him take me somewhere that could trigger a memory in my head.

“Do you understand any of what I’m saying? Please, I need to know so I can help you get home.” The man insisted. “Oh, by the way, my name is Phillius. And you are?”

I lowered my head and shut my eyes tightly. I can’t tell him I can’t even remember my name.

Phillius seems gentle and he is handsome. I took a short look at his beautiful face. He has this set of deep, blue eyes, wavy blonde hair, and a thin, pointed nose. His lips are pinkish and when I saw him lick them, I felt like I’m going to blush so I averted my eyes again and tried to focus my vision on the outside of the car.

He doesn’t bring any hostile vibe at all and although I feel ashamed that he had seen me naked in the middle of the forest, I still feel comfortable with him. Whenever he talks to me, he says it politely and respectfully because he doesn’t linger his eyes on me too long, knowing my thighs are exposed as I curl on my seat.

“Ohh…” Phillius uttered. He must have realized that I’m starting to feel anxious about his questions. “I’m sorry if I upset you. Maybe we can talk when I get you to the city? Should we ask for the help of the police?”

“What's p-police?” the words almost jumbled in my mouth. It feels strange to say something again. How long did I last move my lips? I can’t remember either. It seemed like I was imprisoned in that crystal for a very very long time because everything to me is new, intimidating, and confusing. It’s frustrating that I can’t even recall my own name!

The man’s expression suddenly went serious. I wonder what he did but the thing we were riding went faster as he focused more on the road and didn’t ask me any more questions. He took a small object from the pocket of his clothes and placed it on his ear. It feels odd now that he spoke to that square metal stuff, making me worried. Did I make him so upset because I couldn’t talk to him straight to the point?

His voice went lower when he said. “Yes, I got a Fae here with me.”

Fae? Am I the one he is referring to?

I felt a rush of doubt at Phillius. I can’t explain why I suddenly felt nervous the way he said those words. How did he find out I’m a Fae? And what’s a Fae anyway?

No matter how kind he looks, there is an urge in me that  I need to get out of this moving thing.

We entered a place where there were so many structures, colorful lights, and busy roads. There are so many people wearing strange clothes— running and entering establishments that look like a market.

“Where are you taking me?” I asked Phillius with a little suspicion in my voice. I couldn’t hide the fear in my eyes. He just looked down at me; his expression changed when I blinked my eyes. I am not sure if it’s because I haven’t fully recovered yet from my awful dreams while I was in the crystal or if his face just changed into something dark and sinister.

Upon having a short glimpse of the dreary expression on his face, my mind sharply panicked as if I went into a defensive mode and pressed my back against the door of the car, away from Phillius. He was startled by my sudden behavior at first. I saw how his eyes widened when sparkling purple lights released from my hands. I was baffled too but my attention was more focused on him in case he tries to hurt me!

“Hey, Hey Calm down! I’m not—“

I got frightened when he grabbed me by my arm and the sparks of light exploded between us. My back hit the car door really hard that I got blown away together with it, in the middle of the busy road.

Before I could even stand and run, a loud deafening noise filled my ears, followed by screams of people. I didn’t notice a bigger vehicle running fast towards me, blinding me with its light. I couldn’t do anything but shield myself with my arms and wait for it to crush me flat on the ground.

I held my breath and waited for death to come… but nothing happened.

There was no impact. I only heard the frightening noise of crumpled metal and the gasp of people around me. I was expecting to see the car in front of my face but instead, I saw Phillius— no it isn’t actually him. This man has dark, wavy hair, golden misty eyes, and something scribbled on his neck… He looks like Phillius in some other features but he’s a different man. I stared at him, wide-eyed and terrified.

He stopped the huge thing from crashing on me with only his left hand.

He looked at me closely, his golden eyes screaming with curiosity, and I couldn't do anything but be lost in those alluring eyes, our faces so close I could almost feel his breath on my lips.
