A cold hea

omiscient point of view

The air was thick, silence permeating the environment. The palace was quiet, its walls a beautiful combination of gold and grey.

"And you brought her home?" Alpha Rowen's voice broke through the silence. The maids walked quietly, treading carefully around him.

"Why are you quiet?" he barked at the tour guard who bowed his head , his voice filled with coldness and fury in his eyes.

"Alpha," the tour guide struggled to say, his mouth agape between silence and his words.

"Are you choking on your tongue or what?" Rowen stared at the tour guide, who was unable to express himself.

“ Alpha …. I .. didn't mean to”, he choked on his words , sweat cringing through his thick hairy brows which were shapeless.

Alpha rowen paced through the large living room, walking through the spaces between the white and gold sofas, his left arm around his lower waist.

"It's not like you are concerned about her welfare. You should be really concerned because if she dies, you would be on a hot seat with her father," a voice came from behind.

She bowed her head quietly while greeting Grandma Ash, who was sitting on the sofa.

Rowen's glare shifted to his younger sister, his jaw tight, obviously pissed, and then to Nico, who seemed to be sweating profusely and groaning in pain.

"Seven years !! and you still haven't learnt how to hold your tongue, have you?" His brows raised as he stared at his younger sister.

"She obviously has no sense. She is the same way she left seven years ago," Grandma Ash nodded, her wrinkled face giving way to a serious expression.

"Grandma," Latisha stamped her foot on the ground, her heels giving up sounds as she walked hastily towards Ash, bending down to her level while pouting her mouth cutely.

Rowen gave a soft gaze, his hands still on his waist in a masculine manner.

Ash gave her a knock on her forehead, which made a sounding thud, and she groaned in response.

"You don't say that. She is your sister-in-law and the Luna of this kingdom," she concluded. Latisha rolled her eyes, staring at her grandma as if she had said something quite offensive.

Alpha Rowen's gaze was directed back to Clara, who was beside Nico, tending to her wounds.

"You were with her, and you allowed this to happen," he pointed his index finger at Clara, who seemed to be having a hard time expressing how she felt.

It wasn't like she knew an arrow was flying through, and even if she knew, would she jump at it or something?

Why was he this thoughtless?

Even with her thoughts, she must keep her head bowed. Maids weren't really treated with any conscience here in the pack.

"Latisha, go to your room," he ordered.

She rolled her eyes, taking calculated steps towards Rowen. She stood an inch towards him.

"You can't order me like a baby. I'm almost 21," she bounced on the chair behind her, her ass dropping on the soft foam, crossing her legs, while smiling weirdly.

"Alpha, this wound doesn't seem to stop bleeding," Clara panicked, dropping the 20th bandage spotted with blood in a bowl.

"Get lost, let me take a look," Latisha rushed over, pushing Clara away, and she fell on her arm.

The wound was small, yet blood kept oozing out as seconds passed by.

"It looks sort of inflamed," she said, staring at her grandma.

Grandma Ash took slow steps towards Nico.

"Oh, dear, she is in so much pain," she said, her palms against her head, caressing her chin slowly.

Latisha bent a little bit lower, trying to take a closer look at her wound, her hand around the edge of the wound while she pressed it slowly and carefully with all seriousness.

"What do you think you are trying to do?" Rowen looked at her in a way that wasn't really inviting.

"Get me some oil," she signaled to Kiara, her personal maid, who walked away to get her order and returned after a few minutes.

"You can't apply oil to that wound," Rowen smirked, pushing her hands away, and the oil poured immediately, smashing into unpickable pieces while the oil flowed away .

"Her wound is poisoned, Alpha," Latisha said respectfully, but her expression was serious while she focused on the bleeding wound.

Grandma Ash nodded, "She is right."

"You must buy me another oil, brother," she touched her back, caressing her arms a little while pausing her statement.

"I was trying to help, you ruin it brother ," she said, staring at the broken oil in disappointment.

"Poisoned?" Rowen asked again, in utter shock, bending down to inspect the wound.

"Get me my car keys," his tone strong and sharp.

He carried her in his muscular arms, swaying her as her legs hung in the air, her head resting on his chest, and her hair dangling downwards.

"Where are we going?" Grandma asked, panicking and rushing to get her bag upstairs.

"Granny, I won't wait for you," he warned, his voice looming through.

"Wait for me, grandson," she nodded, proceeding outside.

The sun shone on him while he balanced her in his arms , the warmth of her body touching his.

He took his step hastily , the ray of sunlight hitting him.

"Damn, it's super hot outside," concluded while he rushed towards the car, gently shoving her into the backseat.

"Wait for me, son," his grandma rushed over, her legs wiggling gently, her gray hair, seemed beautiful toned while she held her small blue bag in her hands firmly .

It rhymed really well, making her look super elderly.

She finally entered the car, closing the door of the front seat slowly. Rowen turned his gaze towards her, nodding his head gently.

Clara was about to open the door to get in; he sneered at her as he whined down , the window reducing slowly his face popping through the gap.

"Learn to use your legs, you maid," he spoke to her disgustingly. That was the difference. Nico was the missing key. She never treated anyone badly, even if they weren't in her class.

He drove backwards with speed almost hitting Clara. He pressed the beep, and Clara ran through. She mumbled her statement slowly through her mouth in a way no one could quite hear “ he is so mean”.

"Slow down," Grandma expressed, staring at Rowen with a wolf gaze.

"You should have a driver, Row," he had told her to stop calling him that; however, she always insisted.

"You know I have fired all my drivers; they drive really slow like snails," he admitted, increasing his speed.

"And you drive really fast, Row," Grandma banged her hands, elderly and frustrated.

“Even if I'm to walk to the pack's hospital, I wouldn't even make it halfway” , she whispered .

"Get in," a lousy voice called her from behind.

Latisha had a posh, cute red glossy car. Immediately, Clara stepped into the car. She accelerated, a smile forming on her lips.

The alpha sister was more than a joker. I guess her life wasn't that serious.

"Enjoy the ride," she smiled, facing Clara, who was clearly uncomfortable.

They got to the pack hospital, her heels clicking really hard on the white marble floor.

"What are you doing here, Latisha?" Rowen asked, touching his temple, a headache building up.

"I came to see my sister-in-law," she smirked dangerously.

Latisha wasn't anything near kind; she wouldn't do anything without having a backup plan.

To him, she was planning something more dangerous, far beyond expectation.

The alarm rang through the hall, panic flowing as each doctor ran towards a ward,

Dragging a patient out on a white stretcher.

"We need to go to the theatre immediately; she is losing blood and might pass," Doctor Ravel walked beside Alpha Rowen strolling the stretcher with some nurses.

Grandma Ash stood up, tears welling in her eyes

She rolled on the floor unexpectedly , her back hitting the floor. She sat up with her hands hitting her head.

"My daughter in law can't pass on; would she reall

“ What about the embarrassment “, do you even care about how I felt , she yelled out her eyes almost teary. “ About what I told you the party is all about fun”, Rowen defended. He took a deep breath before muffling the words beneath his breath. His palms rested on his temples.“All I'm trying to do is to explain to you , and it's falling on deaf ears , his frustrated glance caught with her stressed expression .The party had ended early already , the clock in the room ticking in a way that could send rage boiling through . It was annoying.Nico starred at Rowen expecting an answer , she had been embarrassed right at the party apart from the whole story, Rowen had made a mockery of her.“ Latisha is my sister , my blood sister “, Rowen finally said as Nico looked at him, her mouth wide agape. She is my blood sister and she is back. He went silent after his statement like he was expecting her to say something.Maybe a word ?Or a statement ?Nico kept quiet, staring at him in wid

Rowen's gaze felt like a creaking ant against her skin ..The moment she woke up , she stretched her hands wide in the air, yawning while her mouth went agape , her eyes closed as the wind brushed through her hair slowly. The white shirt that hung on his frame looked really nice on him as he started to button up slowly. A scoff escaped her lips ,her mind wavered.“I wasn't,” ! She nodded her head in denial , standing up from the bed, she walked towards the door.“ And where do you

  • The Unchosen Luna     Chapter Nine: The problematic plan

Nico’s Point of View Thanks to the tinted windows of the car, I was able to change out of the dress I had worn before the driver pulled to a stop. “My lady, what are you doing?” Clara whispered, her voice panicked. Outside, the sounds of the crowd filtered in—howls of celebration, cheers, murmurs, and laughter. But I didn’t want their noise. I didn’t want their expectations pressing down on me like chains. I wanted silence. Because expectations break you. The more you keep them, the more disappointment eats you alive. “My lady, what are you doing?” Clara asked again, struggling to keep her voice steady as she watched me fold the white gown from my father’s pack. When I finished dressing, I caught her wide-eyed stare. I had traded the gown for a black stone-studded bum short, a black crop top, and a fluffy jacket. A cap sat low on my head, sunglasses hiding my eyes. I even pulled out the black umbrella I’d tucked beneath the seat. Clara was stunned, but wisely swallowed whatev

  • The Unchosen Luna    Chapter Eight: I Kissed Him

Nico’s POVTime froze. My feet felt glued to the marble floor, unable to move, unable to breathe. My heart clenched painfully inside my chest as if it were being squeezed by an unseen hand.It was him.“Nelson…” I whispered his name in a tone so weak it barely left my lips. Tears burned at the corners of my eyes, threatening to spill.“Hello, Nico.” His voice was calm, steady, but his eyes betrayed something deeper. He lifted his left hand and gave me a casual wave, as though we were strangers meeting after years, not enemies tangled in wounds too deep to heal. For a moment, I thought he wasn’t real—that I had conjured him from my own desperate longing. But then Clara quietly excused herself, slipping away, and reality anchored me. Nelson was here. Flesh and blood. My father’s gaze found me across the hall. A look that said it all: you are married now. He turned and left, his presence like ice sliding down my spine, leaving chills in his wake. And just like that, it was only Nelson an

  • The Unchosen Luna    Chapter Seven: My Nemesis

Nico’s POVInstead of a mating ceremony, what did my father do? He organized a proper wedding. Not a celebration of bonds. Not the sacred ritual of two wolves pledging their souls before the Moon Goddess. No—just a human-like, white-dress-and-veil wedding.Maybe because I was never truly meant to be someone’s mate. Maybe because I wasn’t enough to be chosen.I was the unchosen one—the girl raised to be a pawn, the daughter trained to be sacrificed, the wolf who craved love but was denied it. I was the solution to the kingdom’s problems and yet the sacrifice handed to secure its safety. The thought made my chest pound as if my heart wanted to rip out of me. And no one—no priest, no warrior, no guest in that hall—spoke about the guilt that came with rejecting a good man. No one mentioned how it rotted you from the inside, how it clawed at your conscience even when you had no choice. The music swelled, and I began the walk down the aisle. The red carpet beneath my feet felt like fire, sc
