DOMINIC'S POV

Emily brushed her fingers gently on my bruised cheek from where Adam had hit me. “You have to be more careful.” She said in a whisper.

She shook her head as she continued to take care of the injuries on my face. Her lips were pressed into a thin line and I knew she was not happy about what I had just said.

“I will be more careful,” I told her to ease her mind, but she was not buying it.

“I am being serious. All of this is not an adventure. You could get killed. What would happen to Anita if something happened to you? She's already lost her mother; she can't lose you, too. One day your plan might fail and—” she dropped her hands from my face and looked away from me.

“I'll make sure that never happens. My plans will never fail. Plus you should already know this about me… I don't lose.”

“I don't know why I waste my breath on you. You're impossible.” She muttered as she poured some antiseptic onto a ball of cotton.
