Chapter 7: Secrets

last update Last Updated: 2025-09-21 01:24:00

Walking down the stone pathway, there are beautiful flowers of all colors and neatly trimmed bushes on both sides. At the center, there is a magnificent fountain lined with benches all the way around. We walk to it and sit down. I have never seen anything more beautiful in my life. Hearing the water flow and the smell of flowers all around is magical.

“Kate, I know this is all so new and confusing, but I need you to start taking it seriously. People will try to hurt you to get to me.” Troy says

“Why?” I question

“I’m the youngest Alpha to ever lead a pack. Some people want my position and power and will do anything to get it. That includes hurting you. Alpha James is the biggest threat; he has been trying to kill me since the day I became Alpha.” He explains.

“Why does he hate you so much?” I ask.

“That’s a long story.” He says, looking away.

“Well, don’t you think I need to know why?”

“No.” He states sternly.

“Yes, I do if this guy is willing to hurt me because he hates you so much, I deserve to know why,” I state accusingly.

“No! Kate, you do not, and I will not say it again. This conversation is over!” He snarls.

I stand up too quickly and stumble, still feeling the effects of the wine from dinner. After I steady myself, I walk back towards the house, not looking back. I hear Troy’s voice call after me, but I do not respond.

“Kate, wait.” He yells.

As I’m walking into the house, I start to think about what he is hiding from me. Someone doesn’t just hate you that much for no reason. So what could he have done to make James hate him? I mean, I don’t know anything about this guy. He could have killed someone for all I know. I have to find out what he is hiding from me, so I know if I need a plan to leave him and this craziness. As I start to walk up the stairs, I hear voices in the kitchen. I stop to listen in, trying to gather all the information I can.

“Do you think he will tell her the truth?”

“Maybe one day, but not anytime soon. She needs time to settle in and learn our way if she is going to understand.”

“That's true. Hopefully, she will learn quickly because it is coming, and she needs to be ready, or we will not survive this.

“Let's hope so.”

I hear footsteps walking my way. I make my way quickly up the stairs so I am not seen listening. I make it to the bedroom and shut the door softly. I wonder what they were talking about. What did I need to be ready for? I don't understand why everyone is so cryptic. I need to be smart about this.

Troy

“Kate, wait,” I call after her, but she does not respond.

Damn, why can't this girl just listen? She is so suborn, which I like. This means she will be a good leader for the pack. I just hope she will understand when she finds out the truth. I sit at the fountain for a while, thinking about how to go about everything. I need to mark her as soon as possible so she can start training. She will need all the time she can if she is going to be ready for that war that is coming. But I know she is not ready yet, so how can I make her ready? I'm either going to have to do it against her will or try to convince her. I'd rather have her agree to it on her own, as it will make the transition easier for her. If she takes too long, I'll have to take matters into my own hands. It's getting late now. I'd better get to bed, tomorrow is going to be a busy day. I make my way to my room. As I walk in, I see her sitting on the bed, lost in thought. I clear my throat to make my presence known.

“What are you doing!” she jumps.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you. It's getting late, we'd better get to bed. Tomorrow is a busy day for us both.” I say.

“Okay? So why are you in here?” she questions.

“This is my room, you know,” I say while walking over to the other side of the bed and lying down.

“We are not sleeping in the same bed, are you crazy! I don't even know you,” she yells.

“Where would you like me to sleep then?” I ask.

“I don't care where you sleep as long as it is elsewhere.” She says, crossing her arms with a glare.

“Fine.” I stand up, walk to the closet, and grab clothes for tomorrow. “I will see you in the morning. I will have someone bring you some new clothes. What size are you? I ask.

“You don't ask a woman her size, that's so rude!” she spat.

“Okay. If they don’t fit, that will be your own fault.” I start to walk out the door.

“Size 16 or XL,” she says softly, looking away.

“Thank you, goodnight.” I close the door behind me.

Kate

I watch as he walks out the door, damn, he's really good-looking. I shake my head, trying to expel the thought from my mind. Am I crazy? Thinking my kidnapper is good-looking, I must be losing my mind. I lay down trying to calm my racing mind so I can sleep. I close my eyes, letting my mind drift off to dream.

I make my way to the bedroom to get ready. I can not believe it is happening right now. It seemed like forever away, and now here we are. I go into the bathroom, where I notice a dress hanging on the door. It is a beautiful floor-length ball gown, emerald green in color with a V neck. The top was made of lace with small stones that trailed down to about mid-side. It had a slit on the left side and a small train. It was the most beautiful dress I have ever seen. I slip it on and throw my hair into a quick but elegant updo. Then, after putting on the finishing touches, earrings, necklace, and shoes, I make my way downstairs. I see Molly at the base of the stairs talking to Jake.“Hey Molly, where is Troy?” I ask.“He is already at the ceremony waiting for you. He is getting everyone seated and making sure everything is ready,” she said.“He has made such a fuss about making sure everything is perfect,” Jake says. “That is so sweet,” I say.“If you want, I can walk with you,” she says.

I wake up seeing the run rise out the window and take a moment to enjoy it before getting ready for the day. I walk over to the window and push it open, letting the cool morning breeze flow through the room. I pause for a moment to listen to the birds singing and the sound of the wind in the trees. This is my last chance to run to try and get away. Am I crazy for wanting to stay? This whole situation is insane after all. I am kidnapped not once but twice, then I find out werewolves are not only real but that I am mated to one? Any sane person would stop at nothing to get away. That makes me crazy, but I guess that's okay. After taking a shower, I throw on some clothes and make my way downstairs.“Good morning,” he says. “You as well,” I replied. “So what is the plan for today?”“Everyone is setting up for the ceremony. You can take the morning to do what you wish; the ceremony starts at 2 pm.” He smiles.”“Actually, I'd like to stick by your side today if that’s okay,” I say. “Of co

KateI open my eyes to the sun streaming in the window. I lay there, listening to the birds sing, and dreaded getting out of bed. Every day that passes is a day closer to getting marked. I get out of bed and walk over to the bathroom. I turn on the bath water while I lay out some clothes and get undressed. After stepping into the tub, I let the water rise all the way to my neck before shutting it off. Soaking in the hot water, my mind wanders. What will it feel like? Will it change me? I hear a knock on the door, then the door opens slowly. “Good morning, beautiful,” Troy says, cracking the door but not looking in. “Good morning,” I replied without opening my eyes. “Are you alright?” He asks. “Yes, just thinking,” I say. “Breakfast is almost done.” He says. “Can you have Alex bring it to the garden?” I ask. “Yes, I will.” He says, closing the door. I finish my bath and get dressed. Then head down to the garden. I want some time to myself to think about everything. As I make

TroyOur lips touch, and my wolf goes crazy wanting to take her right here, right now. I have to pull him back, reminding him she is fragile. I pull away from her lips for a moment, looking into her eyes. I wrap my fingers in her hair and pull her into a deep, slow kiss that sends lightning throughout my body. I let my hands fall to her waist and pull her close. Then I feel her tense. “Is this alright?” I ask her. “Yeah, it’s just,” she pauses, “I’ve never done anything before.”“I know, we will take things slow. I’ll only do what you are comfortable with,” I say, stroking her cheek in comfort. “Thank you,” she says with a smile. “Do you want to stop here?” I ask. “I don’t know,” she says, unsure. “Want to go somewhere more private?” I ask“Sure,” she says. I take her hand, leading her back to the packhouse and into my room. I pull her into another kiss as I walk her back towards the bed. Once there, I slowly push her to lie down. KateAs he lays me on the bed, I can feel the

KateI see Troy towards the huge pile of wood that is stacked in the center. He grabs one of the lit torches and addresses the crowd of people. “Food is ready, let’s have some fun,” he says, throwing the touch into the pile of wood, which instantly goes up in flames.“Did you enjoy your evening alone?” he asks, walking past me towards the tables lined with food and drinks.I follow behind him as I reply. “Yes, actually, I had a really nice time, but I do have to ask you a favor,” “Oh? What might that be?” he asks, piling food on his plate.“I need some money. I got a camera from one of the shops, and he wouldn't let me pay. But I do not feel right taking something that he would have made money on selling. So I need to pay him for it, but I do not have any money. I don't have anything of my own now that I think about it. You took me away from my life, and everything I had is gone,” I sayHe turns to me with a sigh, “Okay, I will make sure he is paid for the camera. If you would like,

  • The Unexpected Luna    Chapter 9: What’s is to come

KateI follow Troy out of the meeting room and out the front door. We walk down the path towards the common area. I can hear voices in the distance, kids laughing, people talking. I take a look around and see it is really busy. There are little shop stands sitting around. Kids running and playing while parents stand nearby. I follow as Troy walks through the crowd, greeting people and shaking hands. I stop when I see a nursery full of kids. They are lying on the ground, coloring and making crafts. I walk over to them.“Hello,” I say, greeting the teacher.“Luna, Good morning, my name is Rebeca. I am one of the teachers here at the nursery. It is nice to meet you,” she says.“Good morning. I love kids, so I just had to come over and meet them.” I say.“You are welcome anytime, Luna. The kids love visitors,” she says.I sit down next to the kids and start coloring with them, completely forgetting that I was supposed to be following Troy. TroyAs I walk through the commons, I notice Kat
