I have been watching my mate from a distance ever since I found her 2 years ago. Deciding to wait till she was 18 to approach her, I thought it would make it easier on her to transition. When I found her, I was out on a walk to clear my head after a rival pack killed my father. I head to my favorite spot, which is a hidden clearing in the woods overlooking the city. As I come to the opening, I see her. Sitting on the bench looking over the city, her long curly red hair lies around her shoulders. She looks lost in thought, so I stay hidden in the trees watching her. Suddenly, she starts looking around. Did she hear me? Her eyes, a beautiful shade of dark blue, scan the tree line. But she doesn’t notice me. I take in her scent; it's a sweet smell of honey and lavender. I could feel my wolf getting excited. He wanted to meet her, but not yet. For now, I have to keep my distance. Kate When I wake, my vision is blurry, my head pounding in pain. I sit up quickly as I realize what happened. I grab my head at the sudden movement. I need to take it easy. As I look around the strange room, I wonder where I am. “Sleep well, princess?” a husky voice says from the corner of the room. I jump, not realizing someone else was in the room. I turn to see Troy sitting on a chair by the window, watching me. “Where am I?” I start to question. “I know you have a lot of questions, and I promise to answer them soon. For now, let’s get you some food.” He says with a smile. “No, I’m not going anywhere with you,” I yell and dart for the first door I see. Running out the door and down the hall. When I look back to see if he is following me, I run into someone, knocking me to the ground. “Are you okay?” A strange man says. “No, you have to help me,” I explain. “Alpha…” he says, taking his gaze to the floo.r I feel someone grab my forearm, and I turn to see Troy. His grip tightens on my arm as I try to break free. “I got it from here Jake,” Troy says as Jake walks away, leaving us alone. “Why are you doing this? What do you want?” I snark. “Kate, I’ll explain everything at breakfast, I promise,” Troy says softly. Without releasing my arm, he leads me down the long hallway. We come to a set of stairs that open up to a luxurious living room with a big chandelier hanging in the middle of the room. It’s beautiful. He leads me into the dining room. Where Jake and a young woman sit. He motions for me to have a seat. I sit down slowly, waiting for the right moment to try to escape. He sits next to me and starts putting food on my plate. Bacon, a slice of toast, some eggs, and more. He can’t be serious. There is no way I can eat this much food. He must have noticed the look on my face. “Just eat what you want.” He sighs, adding food to his plate. We sit there in silence eating for what feels like forever before I decide to speak, “You said you would explain, start talking.” I say bluntly, not wasting any more time. “I need you to keep an open mind. Can you do that?” He starts. “Sure,” I say, shortly crossing my arms. “I am the leader of the North Moon wolf pack. Jake is my beta, second in command. This is his mate, Molly.” He gestures towards the young woman. “We are werewolves. You were kidnapped by our rival pack because you are my mate and the future Luna of our pack. I’ve been watching you from a distance, waiting for you to turn 18. I thought it might make everything easier on you. Yesterday I went looking for you, but it was too late. Sam got to you first. I’m sorry I should have come for you sooner.” “Your werewolves?” I laugh, “Is this some kind of prank?” “No, it's not a joke!” He says sternly, “You need to understand your situation and everything that is going to happen.” “What do you mean? What is going to happen?” I question him. “We are mates, which means I have to mark you. Since you are human, the transition is going to be harder for you. Then there will be a mating ceremony where you will be introduced to the pack as their new Luna.” “Marking? Mating ceremony? What the hell are you talking about?” I start to panic, standing up from the table. “Calm down, I know it’s a lot to take in. We will take things slow, it's okay,” he says, trying to comfort me. “No, I have to get out of here,” I bolt. Running back to the living room and out the front door to see that there is nothing but trees. I start running through the woods, waiting to be anywhere but here. My lungs start to burn, and my legs are going weak. I'm not in the best shape, I don’t run or exercise, so I didn’t make it far before having to stop and catch my breath. As I take in my surroundings, I start to wonder if he could be telling the truth. I sit on a nearby stump to rest my legs. As it starts to rain, I notice how beautiful it is. The trees dancing in the wind and the sounds of birds singing. I take a deep breath, filling my lungs with the fresh air. For a moment, I let my mind wander. I could stay here forever; it feels so free and relaxing. I’m startled by the sound of footsteps walking towards me.I make my way to the bedroom to get ready. I can not believe it is happening right now. It seemed like forever away, and now here we are. I go into the bathroom, where I notice a dress hanging on the door. It is a beautiful floor-length ball gown, emerald green in color with a V neck. The top was made of lace with small stones that trailed down to about mid-side. It had a slit on the left side and a small train. It was the most beautiful dress I have ever seen. I slip it on and throw my hair into a quick but elegant updo. Then, after putting on the finishing touches, earrings, necklace, and shoes, I make my way downstairs. I see Molly at the base of the stairs talking to Jake.“Hey Molly, where is Troy?” I ask.“He is already at the ceremony waiting for you. He is getting everyone seated and making sure everything is ready,” she said.“He has made such a fuss about making sure everything is perfect,” Jake says. “That is so sweet,” I say.“If you want, I can walk with you,” she says.
I wake up seeing the run rise out the window and take a moment to enjoy it before getting ready for the day. I walk over to the window and push it open, letting the cool morning breeze flow through the room. I pause for a moment to listen to the birds singing and the sound of the wind in the trees. This is my last chance to run to try and get away. Am I crazy for wanting to stay? This whole situation is insane after all. I am kidnapped not once but twice, then I find out werewolves are not only real but that I am mated to one? Any sane person would stop at nothing to get away. That makes me crazy, but I guess that's okay. After taking a shower, I throw on some clothes and make my way downstairs.“Good morning,” he says. “You as well,” I replied. “So what is the plan for today?”“Everyone is setting up for the ceremony. You can take the morning to do what you wish; the ceremony starts at 2 pm.” He smiles.”“Actually, I'd like to stick by your side today if that’s okay,” I say. “Of co
KateI open my eyes to the sun streaming in the window. I lay there, listening to the birds sing, and dreaded getting out of bed. Every day that passes is a day closer to getting marked. I get out of bed and walk over to the bathroom. I turn on the bath water while I lay out some clothes and get undressed. After stepping into the tub, I let the water rise all the way to my neck before shutting it off. Soaking in the hot water, my mind wanders. What will it feel like? Will it change me? I hear a knock on the door, then the door opens slowly. “Good morning, beautiful,” Troy says, cracking the door but not looking in. “Good morning,” I replied without opening my eyes. “Are you alright?” He asks. “Yes, just thinking,” I say. “Breakfast is almost done.” He says. “Can you have Alex bring it to the garden?” I ask. “Yes, I will.” He says, closing the door. I finish my bath and get dressed. Then head down to the garden. I want some time to myself to think about everything. As I make
TroyOur lips touch, and my wolf goes crazy wanting to take her right here, right now. I have to pull him back, reminding him she is fragile. I pull away from her lips for a moment, looking into her eyes. I wrap my fingers in her hair and pull her into a deep, slow kiss that sends lightning throughout my body. I let my hands fall to her waist and pull her close. Then I feel her tense. “Is this alright?” I ask her. “Yeah, it’s just,” she pauses, “I’ve never done anything before.”“I know, we will take things slow. I’ll only do what you are comfortable with,” I say, stroking her cheek in comfort. “Thank you,” she says with a smile. “Do you want to stop here?” I ask. “I don’t know,” she says, unsure. “Want to go somewhere more private?” I ask“Sure,” she says. I take her hand, leading her back to the packhouse and into my room. I pull her into another kiss as I walk her back towards the bed. Once there, I slowly push her to lie down. KateAs he lays me on the bed, I can feel the
KateI see Troy towards the huge pile of wood that is stacked in the center. He grabs one of the lit torches and addresses the crowd of people. “Food is ready, let’s have some fun,” he says, throwing the touch into the pile of wood, which instantly goes up in flames.“Did you enjoy your evening alone?” he asks, walking past me towards the tables lined with food and drinks.I follow behind him as I reply. “Yes, actually, I had a really nice time, but I do have to ask you a favor,” “Oh? What might that be?” he asks, piling food on his plate.“I need some money. I got a camera from one of the shops, and he wouldn't let me pay. But I do not feel right taking something that he would have made money on selling. So I need to pay him for it, but I do not have any money. I don't have anything of my own now that I think about it. You took me away from my life, and everything I had is gone,” I sayHe turns to me with a sigh, “Okay, I will make sure he is paid for the camera. If you would like,
KateI follow Troy out of the meeting room and out the front door. We walk down the path towards the common area. I can hear voices in the distance, kids laughing, people talking. I take a look around and see it is really busy. There are little shop stands sitting around. Kids running and playing while parents stand nearby. I follow as Troy walks through the crowd, greeting people and shaking hands. I stop when I see a nursery full of kids. They are lying on the ground, coloring and making crafts. I walk over to them.“Hello,” I say, greeting the teacher.“Luna, Good morning, my name is Rebeca. I am one of the teachers here at the nursery. It is nice to meet you,” she says.“Good morning. I love kids, so I just had to come over and meet them.” I say.“You are welcome anytime, Luna. The kids love visitors,” she says.I sit down next to the kids and start coloring with them, completely forgetting that I was supposed to be following Troy.
