Still Alive

EMMA'S POV

I was expecting to wake up in a quiet, dark world of the dead. But angry voices of guards welcome me back to the mean world of the living.

"We saved her! There is no need to bother King Ethan." A female voice announces and a series of deep sighs follow.

"If she had died he would have thought that we killed her intentionally. It's safer to let him know that she attempted suicide so that we don't carry the blame if it happens again." A man's voice replies.

Guess I didn't succeed in killing myself, and King Ethan is going to know. How could they have possibly saved me? I thought I was dead the moment my body hit the floor. Now all the injured parts ache. I didn't escape from pain or distress, I found more of them both by failing the simple task of taking my own life.
