Shawn’s Pov If only the Gustos were not good clients of my company, I would have ditched this party. I was here in person, but my mind was back home with my wife. I wonder if she had gotten better after her nap. I cannot wait to cuddle up with her.“What’s with that smile?” An awfully familiar voice said, bringing me out of my thoughts. I looked to the side, coming face to face with the owner of the voice. “Elizabeth?!” I offered a polite smile. “I thought you were in Italy.”“Well, nice to meet you, Shawn.” She said, coming to a halt two steps away from me. The party was an intimate gathering. I wasn’t sure we were up to thirty guests. The hall was cozy and beautiful, and there was soft music playing in the background. “You don’t talk to me but yet you know so much about me.” I arched a brow at Liz. Even though it’s been a while since I saw her, she still hasn’t changed a bit. She was known to be classy and very stylish. Everyone knew Liz Gusto. The only daughter of Alberto Gusto
Cassie’s POV Doreen almost convinced me. Not just by the look, but by the sincerity in her voice.“I want to believe you, but the situation is deeper than what you can see. Now that it has dawned on me, I think I’m paying for my actions for not listening to my inner self. Being here, I have always felt out of place. I knew I never belonged here. Even when I tried to blend, the fear was still there. Then, when I decided to let my guard down totally, this had to happen.” “Shawn had always wanted a baby. I don’t know why, but all I know is that Brenda might be right. That’s probably why he married me. To be a baby maker and raise the kid like she said.” “Remember what Stella said, too?” Doreen interrupted. I shook my head. “It’s different! Stella didn’t come here unannounced, and most importantly, Stella didn’t get pregnant for him. No one is going to challenge me with that confidence if the child they are carrying is not Shawn’s.” “I don’t care about them. I care about you. You are
Cassie’s Pov I sighed in between my tears when I recalled that the luggage box wasn’t really mine. It was bought with Shawn’s money. The one I brought when I moved here was old and tacky, so it had been trashed. The same goes for the clothes. I let the box sleep on the floor, crouched to my knees, then unzipped it. I came face to face with three dresses and a bikini. Their tags were still on them. I grabbed them, rose to my feet, and made my way to my side of the closet where I dropped them in one of the drawers. With shaky hands and tear-filled eyes, I searched through my closet for what I could take. I settled for three plain dresses, a few underwear, my pajamas, and a jacket. I dumped all of the clothing inside the box, then secured the zipper. “What’s going on?” Doreen attacked when I was hardly out of the closet. She was standing right by the door as though she had been waiting for me to come out of there. “Oh shit!” I cursed the moment I looked down at my body. “I can’t w
Cassie’s PovMy lips quivered, and loud sobs escaped me. “Wait, let Shawn come. You are going to be fired for disrespecting the Elias’ heir.” Brenda said while sitting upright. “Oh, pleaseeeee! Like hell would I believe you. Grab your stuff and leave this place this instant.” “This house belongs to the father of my child.” Brenda continued to caress her bump. “And I’m going nowhere.” She slowly rose to her feet. “Who the hell do you think you are for me to care if you believe me or not?”“Lay a hand on me once more and I promise you that you and members of your family will end up behind bars.” Throwing Doreen a nasty glare, Brenda turned back to face me and instantly burst into a peal of satisfied laughter. “Why the tears? Wait, you seriously thought Shawn genuinely loved you? You thought he was going to leave women like us and chase a gold digger like you?” “Wait, is tha…..” She went speechless when she saw the necklace he gave me for my birthday. Then she took steps closer to
Cassie’s Pov.She was about to take steps towards me, but Doreen blocked her way. “You are not welcome here. Please take your leave.” She continued to glare at Doreen. “You want more of what I did to you? Who the hell do you think you are to stop me in my man’s house?”The wrapped gifts I was holding fell from my hand. Her man? What man? My heart raced.“I wanna see you stop me if I don't put you and members of your family in jail.” The stranger lady said and instantly pushed Doreen out of the way. For someone that tiny and in a delicate state, her strength was quite questionable. It was only when she started to take steps towards me that I discovered she had been wearing heels all along, due to the noise erupting from the clashing of the heel against the tiled floor. How could she wear something so high in this condition?“Who are you and what are you doing in my home?” Those were the words that came out of me the moment she came to a halt before me.The stranger before me stared a
Cassie’s POV “With the person his heart desires the most?” I feigned innocence. Kayla scoffed. “That asshole of my brother hasn’t made it extremely clear, right?” I shrugged even though my sister in law couldn’t see me. “He’s kind to me. He’s possessive, and he takes really good care of me.” I said in all honesty. “I guess love humbles certain breeds of people.” “How?” I couldn’t help but ask. “Shawn is ruthless:” “Well, he has changed now, but what I mean is that he’s known to be bold. He gives compliments when he deems fit, whether good or bad. I can’t believe that he is being a tiny asshole to confess the way he feels. Yeah, action matters, but we women, we wanna hear those words.”I chuckled. “Yeah! I know what I’m saying, and I deeply apologize for his immaturity. This is just his first time being into something this genuine.” “I don’t know what to say, but thank you for being so happy for me. Your call really brightened my mood!” “No, you have nothing to thank me for.
