I have been through three marriages initiated by my stepmom in order to pay off my late father’s debt. This time around, I was betrothed to a disabled man, Shawn. According to my stepmom, Shawn was a useless cripple from an average-earning family so she signed me off to him without thinking twice, ignoring my tears and pleas. But guess what? I was surprised to see Shawn rise to his feet to do his manly duties to me on our wedding night. He was also the owner of the biggest group of companies in the country. Could he be the man of my dreams?

“This better be your final marriage or you will have me to deal with!” My stepmom, Rhoda, whispered in my ear. One of the registry officials passed by us and Rhoda gave him a forced smile.
“Please, Mom,” I whispered with tears in my eyes, fiddling with my fingers.
“I am not your mother and don’t you dare let those damn tears fall or I will end you!!! She said with gritted teeth, standing really close to me. “Your miserable late father left us with so much debt and someone has to pay for it! It’s definitely not my daughter so you better wipe those tears off the corner of your eyes and don’t ruin this for me.”
Knowing my stepmom was one whose words never failed to come to pass, I brought a finger to my face and wiped the tears that lingered at the corner of my eyes. I had no makeup on so I had nothing to lose. I paired my natural face with a well-known knee-length dress. My fourth time getting married in the same dress.
“But I’m innocent. Why should I be punished for my father’s sins?” I whispered, trying so hard not to break into tears. Life was hell with the first three men I was betrothed to. I didn’t want to go through that anymore. “Lauretta is his daughter too.”
Rhoda scoffed. “You don’t understand, do you?”
“My daughter, Lauretta, is going to marry a billionaire who will push this family forward. That’s even more work than what you are bound to do. I know I promised your father I was going to take care of you. That is why I am sharing the responsibilities. You clear the debt and Lauretta will bring the riches.”
“I will clear the debt but not this way. If only you let me finish school, I would have gotten a j….” Hardly had I completed my words when Rhoda’s hand landed really hard across my face.
Tears instantly rolled down my cheeks.
“You ungrateful bitch!!! Never dare question my decision.” She glared at me.
I brought my hand to my face as I sobbed quietly.
Rhoda was about to say something, probably to scold me even more when her eyes dashed towards the large entrance, making her force a smile. “Here comes your husband. Wipe those false tears off your face.”
I obeyed, wiping the tears off my face with the back of my palm. I looked at the entrance and got even more confused. I saw three men. An older man in an average suit attire and beside him was a bit younger man in a wheelchair who was in a baggy suit and behind the man in the wheelchair was a regular dude in casual clothes, pushing the wheelchair.
“Who am I getting married to?” I asked my stepmom with a heavy heart. The registry had a strict rule as to the dressing of married couples so I knew it couldn’t be the man in casual clothes pushing the wheelchair.
“Who else?” Rhoda glared at me. “For a woman with no future and nothing to offer, you should be glad that someone had agreed to make you a wife.”
Fresh tears welled up in my eyes all over again. My lips quivered as I tried to speak my mind. “Please Mom, don’t do this to me.”
Rhoda chuckled, “He can’t be that bad. The least you can do is to take responsibility for your actions. You’ve been married to three men. The relationship never lasted due to your silly behaviour so they were not able to pay the debt. I don’t think this family is rich either but that’s not my business, as long as the debt becomes theirs. They are probably in need of a nanny for their cripple son so be on your best behavior and be prepared to stay with them for the rest of your life.”
Before I could say anything, the man in an average suit approached us. “Rhoda Tess?” He directed at my stepmother.
She forced a smile “Yes, I recognize you from the picture.”
“Nice to meet you.” He stretched out his hand to my stepmom who stylishly stared at him in disgust.
“Oh, I can’t. Doctor’s orders. Sorry!” She lied.
“That’s fine.” The man dropped his hand, not taking offense to how rude my mom was.
“Just so we are clear, once your daughter gets married to my son, my family becomes responsible for the debt on the condition that your daughter gives us an heir in a year and continues to care for my son.”
My eyes went wide. “An heir???”
Rhoda slightly pushed me to the side just to stop my so-called father-in-law from seeing the reaction on my face. “Of course!” She said with a cheerful smile. “The deal is on. She will give you as many heirs as you want.”
“Can you please give us a second and we will join you shortly?” Rhoda said.
The old man nodded, then strolled in with his son in a wheelchair behind him. My stepmom glanced at them all in disgust, then she turned to me.
“A baby? Even the previous men that I had been married to didn’t request that!” In as much as my head was a mess, that was the first thing that left my lips.
“So what now? You wanna quit not regarding my efforts? You are just as ungrateful as your father.”
Tears welled up in my eyes once more. I’m sure Dad in his grave would be filled with regrets about getting married to someone like Rhoda. It’s just a shame that I have to be the one suffering the consequences.
“Your father-in-law is cocky as hell. He has the guts to refer to a child as an heir. Doesn’t he know that the the title ‘heir’ is reserved for the rich and mighty? Whatever!” She scoffs and then points at me. “I don’t care what they say. You are going to give them what they want.”
My lips moved to say something but Rhoda shunned me by throwing me nasty glares.
She gestured for me to go into the registry and I obeyed, taking slow steps, with Rhoda walking behind me.
Cassie, 25, never have I been in love, experienced a true love’s kiss, had an orgasm but here I was, about to sign the certificate for my fourth marriage.
We were five in the small room. Myself, the registrar, my husband, whose name I learned was Shawn, his father, Donald, and my Stepmom who served as witnesses.
Everything happened so fast and soon enough, Shawn and I were pronounced man and wife. Rhoda’s clap and cheers were the loudest. Tears tickled in my eyes. I had never seen her this happy for me.
Once the certificate was issued, Donald approached Rhoda and me, holding a brown envelope which he handed to her. She was sceptical at first but she accepted it.
“That’s the contract. We will pay 40% of the debt this week and will pay the rest subsequently once she births my grandchild. Should She back out of this marriage then your family would repay all of the loan in 5 folds.” Donald said and I instantly felt sick to the pit of my stomach.
“That’s fine, you are not going to regret this.” Rhoda smiled. She took out the papers from the envelope, reached for a pen in her purse and signed me away without reading the contents.
She handed the papers to Donald, then leaned close to me, whispering in my ear. “I hope I never see you again. Enjoy your lifetime with a cripple.”
Heavy tears welled up in my eyes.
Lauretta’s POV“What do you mean?” I said at the top of my voice.“You must be dreaming if you think you can make me love you by feeding me lies.”He tucked his hands in his pocket. “Why did you think I would do that?”“Isn’t it obvious?” I spat in disgust. “You are here, and you are definitely doing all you can to act as though you are a caring father. Please give me a break!”“You should watch your tone! Once again, I am not sure what Rhoda told you, but I won’t let you raise your voice at me and judge me when you know nothing about what really went down!”“Can you just leave your stepsister alone and move on? Elias proposed to her again. Their love is real, and rumors have it that they will be having another wedding party soon. You and your mom made her life a true hell. Why don’t you just let her be and enjoy what she deserves?”Tears pricked the corner of my eyes as I continued to stare at my sole called father with unbelievable eyes.Gosh! I missed my mother so damn much. She wo
Cassie’s POV. “This is so precious!” Shawn said with smiles all over his face as he had his eyes glued to the screen. One would think this was his first time seeing his child. With his eyes still on the screen of the monitor, he brought my hand up to his lips and kissed the back of my palm.My smile got bigger. “Your precious one has definitely grown since the last appointment.” Dr. Bea smiled, then continued with her talk, pointing at specific areas on the monitor. “Now let’s hear the heart beat.” She said, and almost immediately, the most beautiful sound ever came through. Shawn and I took a glance at each other, and we both smiled even more. For someone who was thinking of an alternative the moment the doctor let out the news that I was pregnant, I honestly wouldn’t have prayed for another kind of reality. I chuckled as I started to tear up just like the first time. My baby. A part of me and a part of Shawn. Just like its aunt says, the baby couldn’t have chosen a better co
Weeks Later Shawn’s pov “You were looking at your phone all through the meeting. Is everything okay?” My father said behind me after I shook hands with one of the partners. I turned around to face him. “Yeah, I have somewhere to be so just making sure this meeting doesn’t go longer than it’s meant to,” I answered my father as a few of the partners exited the conference room. “A date?” Papa teased. I smiled. “Why do you say so?” “It’s only when my daughter-in-law is involved that you get this hyped.” My smile got bigger as I tucked both my hands in my pocket. “Yeah, you’re right. I need to pick her up because we have somewhere important to be.” “That’s fine, but do you have a minute for us to discuss?” I arched a brow at my father.“I won’t take too much of your time.” “I know. Just wondering what it is about since you look really serious.” “But let’s go to my office.” I led the way out of the meeting room.……….“If this is about Celine, you have my full support. I think s
The next day! Shawn’s POV “I was going to call the doctor if you didn’t open your eyes anytime from now,” I said in relief the moment Cassie looked into my eyes. “Why are you on your knees? Did you sleep at all?” She asked me, her voice came out hoarse, probably because this was her first word of the day. “Do you want water?” I asked, and she nodded slowly. I helped my wife sit up, after which I went to the other side of the room to fetch water from the jar on the table. I poured some into a glass cup and took it to her. Cassie was about to grab the glass from me. I noticed her hand was shaky, so I fed her myself. She finished the content in the cup. Well, I wasn’t surprised because she had been napping for a long time. I placed the empty cup on the nightstand, sat on the bed opposite her, then turned my attention to her. “Are you fine? Do you still need me to call the doctor?” I asked, staring intently at my wife. Cassie arched a brow at me. “Why would you even say that?” “
Cassie’s POV Shawn arched a brow at me. “Our privacy,” I explained. “Once the kids arrive, we need to be extra careful around them, and we won’t be able to make love anywhere we want.” The worry faded off my husband’s face, and a smile instantly crept to his lips. “You love my cum so much. Don’t you?” He teased. I playfully nudged Shawn, causing him to chuckle. He tilted my chin with his fingers and placed soft kisses on my lips. This right here was why this man got to me so much. The little gestures here and there were everything! “So you consent to us having more babies after this?” “It depends,” I said shyly. “On what?” His tone was serious. I felt butterflies in my stomach knowing he wanted this as much as I did. “On how well this one goes. But I would love for it to have a sibling at least.” “It’s going to go well. Why do you doubt that?” He asked.I shrugged, “Anxiety?” “But you have me by your side.” He caressed my cheek.“I know. I’m confident about it too, but some
Cassie’s POV I giggled quietly as I locked eyes with Shawn. As everyone started to make their way outside the rooftop, Shawn intertwined his hands with mine and held me back. “Okay, what do you want, mister?“ I turned my attention to him. We both had big smiles on our faces. “I don’t know what I would have done if you had turned me down. But I want you to know that you deserve all of these.” “Well, I meant it when I said I’m going nowhere! You made me fall deeply in love with you, so there’s no going back. Thank you once more for the surprises. Today’s joy is really different, but you are still going to tell me how you came about all of these because I didn’t suspect a thing!” Shawn chuckled, “Let’s go to the next one. I hope you love it also.” “We shall see about that!” I giggled..With our hands intertwined, Shawn guided me off the rooftop. We walked through the hallway for a couple of seconds until we came to a stop before a door. Two hefty security men were standing outside
