The moon goddess had forsaken me, so I thought. Spending three months being locked up and serving as the pack healer made my yearning for revenge simmer down but not forgotten. It was harder than I thought it would be. I have been kept under tight security so there wasn’t enough room for me to plan. When they came to drag me out one night saying a child was dying and only I could save him, I was certain that my chance to get back at the traitor had come. But I was wrong.
Richard ensured not to call on me when he falls ill. I hear he goes out of the pack to seek a solution. He must fear what I might do to him after our last encounter in the woods. I hear his ear still hasn’t healed totally.
Meeting Alpha Vincent that day at the clinic, I felt his energy and knew that we were mates. My almost nonexistent wolf’s energy soared that day after so long. But I couldn’t get too excited because there was no way I would be allowed such goodwill. That was what I thought.
Not until I was taken out of the dungeon, not to treat any ailing patient but to walk freely. My mate turned out to be an Alpha, not just a random person. He was able to strike a deal with Alpha Richard. One of them is that I must never step foot into the Ridgestone pack again. I do not mind because of the painful memories I have of the place.
However, that won’t stop me from getting back at Richard. Since I am going to become a Luna, it is only a matter of time before I find a way back to pay Richard in his own coin.
“Please come with me, my lady. The Alpha is waiting for you.” Ivan who had escorted me to the pack said, leading the way.
I followed him feeling anxious. Vincent had sent me a letter before he left for his pack two days ago. Assuring me that we would be together soon. That still didn’t convince me until he had sent Ivan to come get me and bring me to him safely. Tears laced my eyes as I walked through the hallway.
I had almost forgotten what it felt like to be free. I keep jolting at every sound and the guards walking by make me fidget for the fear of being dragged back to the dungeon. My life has witnessed so much darkness in such a short time that I fear what the light brings forth.
However, things have finally taken a blissful turn when I least expected it and that is good enough. I can finally thank the goddess for not forsaking me.
“We are here,” Ivan announced, knocking on the door slightly.
“Come in,” Vincent replied behind the door and my heart leaped in response.
Taking in a deep breath, I turned the doorknob knob letting myself in with my head bowed meekly.
“Finally, you are here,” Vincent uttered standing up with his arms wide open to embrace me.
My toes curled in excitement the moment I felt his arms around me. Just when I thought of reciprocating the action. He retreated, brows furrowed.
“Is something wrong?” I inquired.
Vincent blinked, leaning close to sniff me. I sniffed myself but there wasn’t any odd smell coming from me. He pulled me closer, sniffing my nape like he intended to get high on my scent.
Just when I thought this was a playful trick, he pushed me roughly backwards. “What the hell?”
I gasped in shock, getting on my feet quickly. “What is the matter? Did you smell something?”
His friendly face had morphed into a vicious scowl. “It is more of the fact that I can’t smell anything. I thought it was strange at first that your scent wasn’t strong, but I felt it was all in the spur of the moment. Are you wolfless?”
The question made me gulp hard as I didn’t have a direct response to that.
“Answer me!” He yelled causing me to jolt in shock.
My lips quivered, palms sweaty as I tried to find the words. “I….I don’t know. I used to have a wolf. Maybe, she is just shy?”
“Are you crazy?” Vincent snapped. “Do you think we are having a guessing game here?”
“That is not what I meant. I….”
“Shut the hell up!” He gritted, running his hands through his hair in frustration. “What have I gotten myself into? To think I went all out for a weak, spineless mate like you? How can you not have a wolf?”
I don’t know where the tears came from, they just began rolling down my cheeks. “Please, Vincent. I can explain.” I begged.
“Explain what? Do you expect me to take someone like you who can’t protect herself talk more of protecting others as my Luna? Of what use will you be to me when you have no wolf? Oh my goodness!”
Wiping off the tears quickly I tried to touch him but he slapped my hand so hard, I felt it in my brain. “Vincent…..”
“Call my name one more time and I will have you buried alive.” He didn’t sound like the one who was willing to welcome me just a few minutes ago. “Because of you, I gave out a precious land to that bastard called Richard. Just because I thought you were a treasure worth having. But you are just a good-for-nothing bitch!”
“Please don’t say that to me.” I whimpered.
“Who are you to tell me what to do? Who the hell are you?” He bellowed, his eyes flaming in fury.
I stumbled backwards, sobbing. Vincent cursed relentlessly. Pacing the room back and forth. In the middle of the mess, there was a light knock behind the door. The person didn’t wait for a response before opening the door.
I turned to see a pretty lady with a cold gaze. She stared me down before walking casually towards Vincent. I was expecting him to tell her to leave because he was with his mate. Instead, she wrapped her arm around his neck and kissed him.
“Hey, baby.” She cooed. I was still waiting for Vincent to tell her off, but instead, he kissed her back. Both of them turned to look at me. I stood still, blinking like a fool. “Who is she, Vin?”
I felt a bit hopeful as I locked eyes with Vincent, begging him with every fiber in me not to turn away from me now. He is my only hope.
“Our new maid.” He uttered with conviction.
“M…maid?” I stuttered. “Y…you mean to say Mate right?” I inquired in a shaky voice.
“Do you have a death wish?” He growled and the lady giggled. “Better not do anything stupid.” Vincent hissed making for the door with the lady hand in hand.
Still in disbelief, I hurried after them, reaching for Vincent to tell him this can’t be the end. I cannot afford to be locked away again while Richard lives freely.
“Vin…” he didn’t let the words leave my lips before shoving me away like I was some piece of paper.
“Touch me one more time and I will make your entire life miserable.” He sneered, walking away.
My legs wobbled, giving way to the ground as tears blinded me, his words ripping me into shreds.
CalvinThe courtyard of the guesthouse was in total chaos. Vincent was practically losing his mind, yelling and growling like a wounded wolf. While stomping back and forth in his just a robe and shorts. I felt the sudden urge to pull the mad man by his hair and throw him out of my house. The maids he had been harassing were all leaning against the wall with their eyes darting around in fear. If I knew he was going to go this far, I wouldn’t have allowed any of my staffs to be near him. He is such a nuisance.“alpha vincent!” I bellowed and silence settled on the court. “everyone leave.” I ordered the maids and guards. His men seem to be a bit hesitant. “leave!” I snarled. One nod from their alpha they sauntered out of the space. Derek shook his head standing next to me.“you never sai
ClaraThe silence was killing me, I had to ask calvin. “how are you feeling?”He ruffled his hair slightly, shrugging. “I don’t know. I hate myself in moments like this, Clara.”“what do you mean?”“it makes no sense that I continuously let my aunt get on my nerves, which is obviously her intention. To get a reaction from me just to feel better. And it is more distasteful that Arya that I respect so much is acting crazy too. I have no idea where this sudden obsession comes from.”“you should have thought about that before sleeping with someone you call a friend.” I said with a straight face.Calvin blinked rapidly, shock written all over his face. “w..what? how did you know that?”
Clara“I didn’t expect you two would have dinner with us today. Don’t you have a guest?” I asked calvin when I sighted him and Derek at the dinning table.Calvin pulled the chair next to him out and patted in a gesture for me to sit in. I hid a smile, tucking my loose hair behind my ear. Mouthed a thank you and took the chair. “he is not worth that attention.”“calvin.” Derek cautioned. He snorted. “whatever. The point is, he has enough entertainment at the moment. It would be a waste of time to eat with him.”“I never thought it is possible to leave a guest to themselves. Is he still the same person you want to show the herb products to?” Lena inquired sipping her wine.Derek waved a dismissive hand. &ldq
CalvinIf I knew I was going to walk into a draining meeting like this one, I wouldn’t have left clara side. We were having fun and enjoying each others company. I knew Alpha vincent was a troublemaker, I just didn’t think he would be such a nuisance. The first annoying thing he did on his entry was request for a certain kind of wine insisting it helps him think better. Only to get attended to by a maid and he yelled at her saying she acted too slow. Through it all I was on the verge of losing my cool but Derek held me back.“I have heard just how brilliant your designs are and I wanted to see for myself. They arent so bad. “vincent commented as he held up the miniature design of the intended bridge. “how solid is this design? Are we certain it wouldn’t go on a collapse in few years to come?”Derek cleared his throat to spea
Calvin“hey you.” I cooed at Clara, pulling her into my arms. I had cornered her against a wall in the hallway. She seems to have been avoiding me all day, but I wasn’t worried, because I know it will only take a short while before I lay my hands on her. She wiggled in my embrace. “someone might see us, what are you doing?”“touching my mate.” I replied wiggling my brows at her and stealing kisses off her face.Clara giggled, hiding her face in my chest. “stop, calvin.”I leaned back, holding her gaze. “tell me you really want me to stop.” I grinned, wiggling my brows at her.She laughed heartily, “I never knew you to be this goofy.”“I guess that is yo
Author’s POVArya pushed the door to the studio opened roughly as she made her way in, mumbling angry words under her breath. She threw her bag to the floor and plopped into a resting cushion, rubbing her face angrily. Her friend Kayla who was cleaning her camera lens when she walked in, stared at her with a bit of amusement. “is everything alright? You look like you wouldn’t mind beating someone to pulp.”“I really wouldn’t mind, that is how pissed I am right now.” Arya replied, kissing her teeth loudly.“what happened?” Kayla inquired, putting down her camera to join her. She sat on the couch opposite Arya.“I hate that bitch so much that I want to snuff life out of her. I don’t know how she got everyone to be on her side, but it
ClaraMaking my way towards the courtyard, I let out a loud yawn. I would do anything to lay in bed right now and just sleep off. There was a lot of work to do at the clinic, no doubt. Still I shouldn’t be this tired. But for some strange reason, the exhaustion seeping
CalvinSeeing Clara hurry away the moment our eyes met made me feel like the villain. Derek turned to me abruptly with a glare.“I was wondering what had her looking so anxious. How did I not know it was you?” he snarled.
Clara“Is everything alright, Clara? You look a bit pale.” Janet noted.I patted my cheeks gently. i noticed it when I woke up, but I was hoping the color would return after I must have had breakfast or got to work. “I had trouble sleepi
Clara“What? Beta Derek owns that large building?” I blurted in disbelief.“Keep your voice down, Clara.” Lena whispered, her darting around the restaurant like she fear someone might hear us.&ldqu
