Troy's POV“She's pregnant”, I finally breathed out when this idiot didn't get it even after the multiple hints I gave him, then after I said that, a long, long silence followed afterwards“Damon, are you still there?”, I asked as it seemed he hanged up on me and I heard him draw a breath“Yeah, yeah”, he sounded like he needed a minute to process everything. “I just- I need to speak to Layla”“Sure, hold on so that I can give her the phone-”“No, not over the phone. I need to see her”.“Damon, we talked about this man, not only will you be endangering her life, you're going to endanger all of our lives here”“It's really important that speak to Layla, please”, he begged and believe you me, I was touched. It's not everything I get begged, especially by Damon, and he sounded desperate.“No”“No?”, his voice boomed at the other side of the line. “What do you mean no?”“You'll see Layla when it's safe to see her”“Troy-”“I just wanted to let you know that she's pregnant”“I just need-”,
Troy's POV"We can't keep it", Damon breathed out and the second those words escaped his lips, Layla's face went pale before she took a step back from him"There's just too much happening, and it just complicates things", he explained and Layla kept walking back until she stopped when she felt the table behind her and leaned on it, looking like she was still processing everything with her eyes fixed onto the ground"Layla", he titled her face up so that she could look at him and tears were already building in her eyes. "If Daniel found out you're pregnant, he would make my life a living hell""So this is about you", she looked at him deep in the eye, daring him to continue justifying his actions to her"No, it's about doing what's right", he said, and she laughed in disbelief"Which is what?", she challenged him to carry on, and he shrugged his shoulders helplessly"We need to get rid of it"The fuck?Layla looked completely horrified at his words before her chin started quivering and
Troy's POVI lied to Layla about having to go away for a couple of weeks for work. The truth is, I just needed to get away from her because my feelings were getting the better of me, and they were going to end up clouding my judgement, so I couldn't let that happen. She's happy with Damon, that's all that matters.Walking into my apartment, I closed the door behind me and locked it before leaning on it, heaving a sigh while stretching my hand to flick the lights on. My apartment was just okay for a young bachelor like me, I didn't have plans of buying a house soon because it looks like I won't be settling down for some time and besides I travel a lot because of my job, so I won't get to be at home much for me to consider investing in some property. She's happy with DamonI kept reminding myself continuously in my mind as I switched on the lights and as the brightness started spreading across the room, so did Daniel sitting across the dining room table. I stopped on my tracks when I wi
Damon's POVWe were held at gunpoint by Daniel's armed men, Troy and I knelling on the floor with our hands up in surrender. I looked up and watched Daniel come down the stairs behind Layla, holding her at gun point while forcefully dragging her down the stairs and I could see she was trying to put up a fight at first, but then Daniel whispered something into her ear and she stopped, letting him drag her without any struggle."Look who I got here Damon, your precious wife", he laughed maniacally and his grip tightened on Layla's neck, causing her to wince in pain"Let her go Daniel, it's me you're after""I've noticed something", he paused to think, his eyes dropping to Layla's baby bump. "Is it me or is Layla's stomach a little bigger?"He chuckled a little, seeming amused as he placed the gun on Layla's stomach. "Is this the new addition to the family?""Daniel, please", Layla sobbed, her glowing with tears as she looked at him and Daniel's features softened in pity"Layla, sweetie"
Daniel's POVI don't know what happened before Layla landed on top of me when I was trying to prevent her from having a bad fall on her stomach. This was because her hands slipped on the gun, resulting in her falling, but she continued picking up the struggle of getting the gun from me.From there, everything happened so fast, the next thing I heard was two shots being fired and Layla grasped, her eyes dropping to her stomach to see her white shirt was slowly turning crimson red. Her breathing ragged as she placed her hand on her bullet wound and bought it to her face before looking at me in the eyes before hers rolled to the back of her head and she collapsed on her side on the floor and I quickly got to my side to shake her awake, but she had lost consciousness.Troy quickly pushed me away, trying to shake Layla up. I could see his hands stained with blood and I turned my head to see Junior lying lifeless on the floor, Angelo knocked out not very far from him."Layla?", Damon took h
Two years later.....Layla's POV“Layla, hurry up we are going to be late”, Lelo called me from downstairs. She was driving me to and from work every day since I moved back here and got myself a new apartment. I stayed with my Dad for a couple of months to nurse him back to health while deciding to do something with my life.I had a passion for literature and went back to my old job as an editor at the cities publishing company, and before I went to beg for my job back, my boss was already on my doorstep, ready to drag me back to my office as soon as she heard I was back in town“Coming”, I jogged downstairs to grab a couple of fruits to put in my bag because we were already late for me to eat breakfast. I hated doing this to Lelo, sponging off on her for a ride to work, but she insisted and told me she would gladly give me a lift until I was back on my own two feet. I wasn't making a lot of figures, but they were enough for me to keep up with the cost of living. I just recently moved
Layla's POVDylan was only arriving later on today and I had unlimited time to cook dinner for us. Lelo and Stacy were coming along with James, Stacy's new boyfriend. They have been dating for over a year now, and he involuntarily became a part of our little family. I was happy that Stacy finally found herself a decent, well-mannered guy who treats her like a queen. They are really adorable together, and Lelo and I secretly envied their love, it was genuine, almost too good to be true, but it was. There was a knock on the door, and before I could go and open, Lelo barged in and threw herself on one of the couches. She never knocked more than once. One knock was enough to let herself in and make herself at home. My Dad always wondered how she did it but soon got used to it, our home was her own.Stacy and James walked in right after her, not empty-handed of course. They came bearing gifts for Dylan and a bottle of wine. I hugged all of them and thanked them for the toys they bought Dyl
Layla's POVWhen we finished eating dinner, the girls helped with clearing the table and washing the dishes, leaving the kitchen spotless. I made it a habit to always wash the dishes before going to bed, no matter how tired or drained I was because nothing is more depressing than having to make up in the morning, late, with the sink filled with dirty dishes.Damon and James seemed to get along now, the episode at the door seemed to be all forgotten as they were even laughing and talking about sports. Dylan had fallen asleep in Damon's arms and Damon held him close to his chest as they spoke softly to avoid waking him up. Halfway through eating his dinner Dylan was already yawning and rubbing his eyes lazily. It was time for the crew to go back home, and I was practically begging Lelo with my eyes to not leave me alone with Damon, and she was dropping hints that she might have left her bathroom basin tap running and some other lame excuses on why she had to go home and cannot sleep ove
