Chris's pov

“Holy fuck” I gasped at my laptop screen in my room as I stared at the pictures of the man in front of me.

He's Fucking loaded

He was a major shareholder in a billion dollar companies, he came from generational wealth. He was worth billions himself.

He invests in companies that have potential and it looks like all his investments are always profitable.

Was he sure about wanting me to be his accountant, this was a huge opportunity. A once in a lifetime opportunity and I'd be a fool to pass it off.

My parents though. What would they say, especially my father. He wanted me to take over the family business even though I didn't want to.

Should I tell them? If I told them they'd be against it. I mean why tell them. I could just try the internship and see if I'm good enough.

I'll tell them later. I picked up the card and stared at the number and decided to call it.

It rang for a while before I heard a voice.

“Hello who is this?” his voice asked and I gulped.

You can do this Chris

“It's Chris….. Christopher em I was calling about the internship”

“Oh hey there Christopher, come over to my house tomorrow. Where do you live I'll send a driver to pick you up. Do you have classes tomorrow?”

“I don't have any classes tomorrow” I responded, shocked that the offer still stood.

“Well I've told Alvin about you, he's eager to meet you. I did my research on you and you didn't tell me you're at the top of you class”

I blushed at his statement

“You're exactly what I need” he continued and I felt happiness in my stomach.

“Send me your location, I'll send a driver to come pick you up. In the morning”

The call ended and all I could do was stare at my phone in both shock and excitement. This was it. I couldn't believe it. I was going to be an accountant for a fortune 500 company.

I fell asleep in excitement.

……..

I was in a car going to Dante's house. It was a black SUV and the driver, a guy named Tim was silent the whole ride apart from telling me his name.

We arrived at the house in the outskirts of town. It was surrounded by a dense forest. As we drove up into the driveway, the house came into view. Calling it a house was an insult. It was a Fucking mansion. It was huge. It looked like it was built in the 1800s with brick and mortar. But it also had a modern element to it.

As I walked to the door, it opened up and an old looking man opened the door. He looked around seventy.

“Welcome Mister Christopher, I'm Kerion” he spoke with a British accent bowing before leading me into the house.

If I thought the outside of the house was beautiful, the inside was magnificent. It was the perfect blend of modern and ancient. With chandeliers and beautiful authentic Picasso paintings and I swear I sighted some Leonardo Da Vinci. There were a lot of beautiful paintings.

I didn't know a lot of the painters but they looked authentic. I stared at a picture of a man that looked exactly like Dante.

It must be his father

I saw different pictures of his ancestors lined in a hallway but Kerion led me a different way. He knocked on a door and then led me into what looked like an office.

Dante sat there in a casual cashmere sweatshirt and jeans.

“Sire, Christopher is here”

“Thank you Kerion, you may leave now”

Dante waved while still going through some papers. Kerion bowed and then walked away, closing the door and leaving.

Once he left Dante put the papers down and looked up at me.

“Christopher, you look especially ravishing today” he complimented leaving me stunned. I felt the blush begin to creep on my face.

He pulled a stack of paper and handed them to me before I could even respond.

“Go through these, tell me what you think. You can sit there” he said, pointing to a chair.

I collected the papers shocked and went to sit. I looked through the papers and saw it was an accounting sheet.

I sat and went through it page by page marking where I thought there was a discrepancy in the accounts.

Time flew as I got engulfed in the work. I really enjoyed accounting. The boring repetitiveness wasn't a problem for me. I enjoyed it. That was the only quality I seemed to have inherited from my dad. His love for accounting.

I finished it up and looked up to find Dante staring at me with fascination.

I probably looked like a full geek right now.

I stood up, handed the stack to him and informed him about the discrepancies. He nodded. This was probably a test so he knew.

“You're good. I like that. Alvin was running late and so I gave you the accounting files and you found it this quick” he smiled at me.

“I've been trying to catch who's stealing my money and you found it this fast. You're even faster than Alvin” he looked impressed.

So these were real account records. I thought they were a test of some sort. I felt really proud.

“Kerion sent Alvin and Theo in with Christopher's employment contract” he pressed an intercom and spoke.

I sat shocked as an old man walked in with a younger man, both were holding a briefcase.

“Hey there Christopher, I'm Theo” the younger man extended his hands to me for a handshake.

I took a hold of hand and his hand was really cold. He noticed my shock and smiled. “Anemic here”

I nodded in understanding. The older man walked up to me and shook my hands too.

“Hey Christopher, I'm Alvin. I've heard a lot of impressive things about you. Looking forward to taking you under my wings”

I nodded. Alvin Willis. The award winning accountant. He was a Fucking legend in the accounting world. I couldn't believe I got to work with him. I tried not to show my excitement.

“Nice to meet you Sir” I said, trying to sound professional.

“Oh young Chap, call me Alvin” he patted my back and I nodded, not trusting myself to speak.

“Well Chris, here's your employment contract” Theo said, opening his briefcase and pulling out a file and handing it to me.

“It has all your benefits and compensations. Take your time and go through it before your sign” Dante said standing up and walking to me.

He checked his watch. “It's two already. You can leave. Go home and rest. Tomorrow will be a lot of work”

I nodded and walked to the door with Kerion behind me.

“And Christopher?” Dante called to me.

“Be sure to get some lunch, your stomach is grumbling”

I turned beet red as my stomach grumbled in agreement.

“Yes sir” I stammered out of the office.

…….

Holy shit. I looked through the contract. I was being paid the salary of a mid-level accountant as an intern.

Not to mention they were offering health and dental insurance. I was even being offered a car and a driver to help my commute around town.

This was way beyond what any starting accountants was paid. Hell most accounting interns rarely even got paid.

This was gold. I could quit my job at The Alley. I mean the hours weren't regular. It was stated in the contract that I'd work irregular hours but I had a driver to take me back home anytime I wanted.

I went through the confidentiality clause and it was ironclad. Definitely something you'd expect from a billionaire. It was normal.

I signed the contract excitedly. This was fool proof. At best I get a great job that I love and at worst I go back home and work with my dad.

I heard a key rustle on my door. “Chris baby are you in there”

Fuck it was Ashley. I'd been avoiding her for a while so now she was coming to my house.

Shit I couldn't let her see the contract

I put everything back in the folder and hid it under my sofa just as she stepped into my studio apartment.

“Heyyy Ashley, what are you doing here” I adjusted to ensure the file was hidden properly.

She walked up to me with a sashay and kissed me. “I know you've been busy with your classes and work and I've been busy with hospital placements so I wanted us to spend time together today”

Oh did I tell you Ashley was a nursing student. All the original mean girls somehow found their way to nursing. You'd think caring for people would turn them off but they enjoy it. They enjoy having people depend on them to live.

I used to think she was an angel. She looked like an angel with her innocent face, her blond hair and blue eyes. The all American girl. That shit was a face she put on.

All it took was proximity to her to figure her out.

She kissed me and began to pull her clothes off while reaching to grab my dick. I wasn't in the mood. Sex wasn't the answer for everything.

“Ashley stop” I took her hands and kissed them. I “You're exhausted, you've been working multiple shifts while prepping for exams. What sort of boyfriend would I be if I didn't take care of you” I shook my head pulling away from her.

"I really don't want do sex right now. I have so much on my mind. I'm sorry" I apologized.

She didn't listen going down on me and began to unzip my pants, looking at me with a smile on her face. I made me feel disgusted

"Ashley stop for fuck sake" I shouted moving away from her.

"I'm so sorry, I just wanted to make you feel good. I thought you'd like it" She looked sad and started to cry. I couldn't help but feel a little guilty.

I shouldn't have been this harsh. it wasn't her fault. I was still her boyfriend and she was doing exactly what a girlfriend would do.

I was the problem

I couldn't tell her the Truth. That I had just gotten a pretty great job and didn't want to touch her, that I no longer found her very attractive. I couldn't say that.

"it's ok Chris, I understand". She pulled away kissing me on the cheek and pulling me into a hug

This was the Ashley I had fallen in love with. Yes she was a bitch and a mean girl but she had always been vulnerable with me.

If I was someone that didn't care about others and their feelings. If I was maybe like my dad then she'd have been perfect for me.

Too bad I was try to be anything but my father

I felt a wave of sadness hit me. I stood up and went to the bathroom. My bathtub is small but clean and it could easily fit her.

I drew her a hot bath, added the bath bombs and bubble baths to the water and then went back to her.

“I've drawn you a bath, go soak off and rest, you need to sleep”

I said, leading her to the bathroom. She stripped smiled and sunk in

“This is why I love you Chris”

“I know,” I said with a smile, leaving her to take the bath.

I left back to the living area and took out the folder from under the couch. I took it and hid it in my saddle bag.

I then proceeded to hide the saddle bag too. I don't know why I was hiding it from her or from anyone but I felt like Dante was mine. This job was my special secret project that I had to do on my own.

It was as if someone knowing would jinx it for me. I walked back to the bathroom to ask her if she'd want to eat something when I saw her passed out on the bathtub.

She was really exhausted. I woke her and she drowsily woke as I turned on the shower and rinsed her off.

I took her to my room, put my shirt on her and laid her in bed. She needed her sleep. I laid beside her and signed.

What the hell was I doing?

Christopher’s POV I turned to christopher who was laying beside me a content smile on his face staring into the ceiling. The quiet of the morning and the exhaustion from the night before filling the room. We'd stayed out last night until early in the morning when we finally drove back home with my tired mother already snoring in the back. We all were going to sleep in today from the sheer exhaustion of the previous night. Dante and I didn't sleep but we didn't spend time together with each other. I lay there, curled into Dante, my head tucked against his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his not, heartbeat. He didn’t have one, but somehow, there was always this presence, this warmth under my cheek that felt more alive than anything else.I was cold but he was warm with what seemed to be an illusion of a heart beat. He was very human like. I looked more like a vampire than he did. it was funny seeing that he was my maker. “Morning, love,” he whispered, low and soft, brus

Dante’s POV I packed up the trays as I stared at Christopher and his mom talking to some random woman. I couldn't keep my eyes off him. He was beautiful. The way his face animated and the smile on it. I wanted to do nothing more than to walk over their and steal a kiss from him. The woman said something funny and both him and his mom there their heads back and laughed. They both had the same laugh. I could see traces of her in him and it made me feel even better about what I had done. After overhearing her conversation with that old witch, Mrs. Bukly, I’d made a decision. Normally, I wouldn’t have interfered. Let the humans bite and claw at each other, let them sort their own egos out. Plus this was Christopher's mom. I didn't have much motivation to help out giving that I still have not forgiven her for what she did to Christopher and I never would but even then. I still intervened something that was out a character for me. I couldn't sit down and watch that old hag thin

Christopher’s Mom’s POV That woman. That vile, pompous, arrogant, judgmental bitch. If curses had wings, they would’ve flown out of my mouth and circled Mrs. Bukly like vultures until she dropped dead in the middle of this gym. I was seething, boiling inside my chest, but on the outside, I smiled the tight, fake smile of a lady who refused to give her enemy the satisfaction of seeing her crack. I hated her audacity, the way she leaned down like I was some poor broken thing, her hand patting mine as though I needed her pity. Pity from her, of all people. The way she gloated about her pies, her wins, her fake memories of my husband sneaking back to her stall. Lies. All lies. My husband would never, he had never. I cursed her inside, cursed her powdered face, her smug lips, her entire bloodline. No wonder your children don't come to see you. Those words were on the tip of my lips but I held them back. I turned my chair, still trying to shake her poison off me, and that’s when my

Christopher's POVI loaded the last of the mini quiches into the car and shut the hood. Today was the day of the bake-off, and I was going with my mom and Dante.Luckily, they were having it in the evening at our high school gym.It was going to be the second time I was going there and the first time in years since I attended the bake off. Dante had been so excited about it you’d think he was the one competing at the bake off and he could actually eat everything.I mean, when we came down this morning, he had listened to my mom give out her famous roast of every competitor and listened excitedly while helping her with the finishing touches on the pies.Baking for the bake off was the most fun I had ever had with my mom since the whole incident of her betraying me because of Ashley. This just reminded me of how much I missed her. I mean, we’d spent the whole day just talking and laughing. Having fun.I missed that shit. I missed the time when she’d spend hours in the kitchen baking ove

Dante’s POV I watched from the background, as I always did. Not because I wasn’t wanted, but because I needed to be the shadow. I needed to give them space to heal. I wanted Christopher to have time with his mother. Time to us vampires was fleeting. it was a truth he'd learn as we grew. These moments with her were going to matter to him in a few centuries when he had no living relative left. When he was all on his own. Because he'd chosen a vampire to love. A very selfish one. I was also standing there . A reminder that I was always there, watching, listening, making sure she didn’t say something she couldn’t take back. It wasn’t the same between them. I doubted it ever would be. she had hurt him too much betrayed him in a way that was irreparable. Still, there was progress. Slow, uneven progress, but progress all the same. And she knew it. I could see it in the way she softened when she looked at him. The way her words caught in her throat before she spoke, careful now, af

  • The Vampire King's Obsession    chapter 316

Christopher’s Mom’s POV As Christy wheeled me out of the kitchen, the guilt wrapped around my throat like a rope. Tight. Unforgiving. My son’s face wouldn’t leave my head. The way his eyes darted away from me when I spoke. The stiffness in his shoulders, like he was bracing for impact. Like he expected me to wound him again. He was my son. I could tell he was uncomfortable with me and that hurt as hell. And he was right too God help me, he was right. This mess was mine. Every crack in his trust, every ounce of pain I saw in him this morning, it all had my fingerprints on it. Because I had been stupid enough to listen to Ashley. Her poisonous words had taken root in me like weeds. "He's cheating on me" "He’ll ruin himself." "He’s confused." "I don't want him to make mistakes that will hurt him." I thought she actually cared. I thought I was doing the right thing. I curse her every time I think of it. I curse myself more for believing her over my son. The boy
