Chapter Five - Hot Patient

Eleanor's P.O.V :

"GET AWAY FROM HER!" The dark hair man's boomed in the room making me jump a little.

Why was he here? Didn't I tell him to rest?

"Man... Calm down." The chocolate haired man whose name I learnt was Henry spoke holding his cousin back.

Yeah! Cousin. He told me that yesterday. The injured man, Daniel wasn't his friend but his cousin...

"So your name is Henry?" I asked the chocolate brown haired man to confirm what he had said to me as I lead him to my house. The children had hurried back to their homes as I told them to so it was just the five of us.

"Yea. This is my cousin, Daniel. The one with blue eyes is Petroka, our friend and the last ones name is Teris. He's my cousin's friend." Henry said as he carried the man, Daniel in his arms like a princess.

Yea... like a princess.

"I see. Oh! Here we are!" I exclaimed as we almost arrived to my house. I quickly ran to it and opened the door. Henry followed soon after me and Petroka and Teris after him.

"So, where do I keep him?" Henry asked with a confused look on his face as I spoke nothing but lead the way to the guest room where the children used to have sleepovers in my house. I have to give it to Henry though, he's always quick to catch on. He quickly followed me inside the room as he laid Daniel on the bed.

Daniel stirred a little as he moaned in pain. "It hurts..." He groaned. Oh god! Why does it voice sound so good? My heart is fucking beating so much faster than it was before.

Stop it, Eleanor! You have to help him first. I scolded myself as I tore my gaze away from the beautiful man and went out to get the medical supplies. But, before I left the room, I heard a sniff behind me.

"You'll get better, brother. You have to. For me. For you. For aunt. For our family."

It was Henry's voice. The poor guy was sobbing uncontrollably. I have to hurry! I can't let him lose his brother like I lost my mother.

And, so I did. I ran downstairs gathered all the medical supplies and hurried back upstairs. I saw Petroka cleaning Daniel's wounds with water when I entered and Teris consoling Henry. Poor him. It must have been hard to see his family like this.

Upon sensing my presence, Petroka got up from beside Daniel with the bowl and cloth as he gave way to me to apply medicine. Which I did. The wounds were quite deep.

"This might sting a little. So, bear with me. Won't you, Daniel?" I cooed Daniel in a soft voice as I stroked his smooth silky black hair. Damn, it was so soft. Ugh! How good it would be if I could run my fingers through them all day.

The heck! What is wrong with me!? He's a patient. How can I have such thoughts for a wounded man writhing in pain. Shaking my head, I immediately started started applying the medicine on his chest and I would be lying if I said I wasn't feeling anything. It felt as if electricity coursed through my veins each time my hand came in contact with his beautiful skin.

In order to avoid myself from doing anything inappropriate which could cause Daniel to look at me like a pervert. I tried to be as quick as I could be. Once, I was done applying the medicine. I helped him sit up straight which earned me a groan from him but either way he didn't protest much which made it easier for me to bandage him. After, I was done with the bandages.

I looked at his back as my entire soul felt so heavy. Scars. His back was covered in scars. God! What has he gone through to end up like this? Realising I've been staring for too long. I quickly decided to stitch the long wound on his back. It was definitely one from the long nails of a vampire.

Fuck it. I hate it. I hate seeing Daniel like this. And, I hate vampires. I hate them with every single shread of feelings that I owned.

After I was done stitching his wound, I let him relax on the pillow as I quickly put some distance between the bed and me. I quickly checked the water supply on the table, kept a few medicines for him to alleviate his pain. Then turned to look at his beautiful flawless face which sent tingles down my body.

"Daniel?" I called him as he looked up. His dark blue eyes held me captive as I forgot to breathe for a moment.

Assuming, he was listening to me I told him about the supplies and to rest, if he needed anything to call me and not to strain his body too much as the stitches might open. But, I didn't even get a nod as a reply.

"Daniel?" I called him again but no response. So, I rose my voice a little but sadly it came out louder than intended.

And, the look he gave me was just so clueless that I felt a bit sad. He wasn't listening, just staring at me while thinking about something else. Or maybe, someone else. I don't know why my stomach twisted at that thought. So, I decided to immediately make an exit before anyone could catch my pained expression.

When I came down I saw the children surrounding Derek, Chief Christian's son who was holding some flowers in his hands and was looking at them with a helpless expression on his face.

"Hey guys! What happened?" I asked as I approached them as their sad faces greeted me.

"We left the cake in the woods, El!" Pheobe exclaimed in sadness as realization dawned upon me. We left the cake on the trunk of that tree in the clearing. Slapping my forehead I said, " Why don't you guys stay here? I'll go and get it. Yeah?"

Their eyes instantly brightened up as their expressions brought a smile to my face.

"Umm... there's no need for it. I already brought it. I was about to say that to the kids before you interrupted. It's just outside. Let me bring it in." Derek said as he walked over to me and held out the flowers for me. They were pretty roses.

"Thank you." I expressed my gratitude as I took the flowers from him. He acknowledged it as he replied with a small nod and a happy birthday which was even less than a whisper. And, then quickly went out to fetch the cake.

I kept the flowers on the table and said to the children," Why don't you all take a seat?"

"Yes, El!" They replied in unison as they quickly took their seats. Once, they were seated Derek brought the cake which he kept on the table beside the roses. As, it was getting late and the kids had to go back home. I immediately cut the cake and gave each one a slice which they ate while filling the room with their giggles and my heart with warmth.

Once, they were done. We all quickly said our goodbyes and the kids left, leaving me and Derek all alone in the living room. I decided to pick up the plates than talk with him. But before I could, his hands stopped me.

"Derek?" I looked up at him with a questioning gaze which was replied by a rather strange answer which made me jump back putting as much distance as I could between him and me.

"You know, I love you a lot El. But still bringing unknown men to the house is not acceptable." What the fuck!? What is wrong with this guy? Were we even something? What the hell gives him the right?

But, before I could open my mouth to speak, he cut me off as he closed the distance between us and put his hands on my shoulders. "El, do you think you make the right choice?"

The heck? It's more right than having you in my house, right now. He opened his mouth again to spew some nonsense but was cut off by Daniel's loud voice.

Which brings us back to right now which Daniel holding Derek by his collar becoming the wall between me and him.

He looked really cool in that moment, honestly. Like a hero. My hero.

What is wrong with you, Eleanor? Say something. Stop them. My subconsciousness scolded me as I opened my mouth to speak but was cut off my Daniel's loud, hot, roaring voice.

"I'LL FUCKING KILL YOU!"
