Misunderstandings

NICHOLAS' POV

"What is it that Diana desperately wants to hide and you're helping her to?" He asked again.

"Is that the first thing you should ask after finding out who I am?" I replied before slowly turning to meet his gaze.

His shoulder stooped as he dropped his head and stared blankly at his feet which were hiding within a white sneakers.

It took him a while before he could raise his head again and when he did, his eyes were puffy.

"I'm sorry, Nicholas. I forsook you and...and…" He paused as a heart wrenching cough disturbed him which he used his white handkerchief to cover.

"You shouldn't be sorry because it doesn't matter now. I'm all grown up now and I know the exact punishment to give a betrayer and a murderer.

I expected him to understand what my words meant and without doubt, I knew he understood well but his reaction proved otherwise.
