The Masquerade Ball I

“Can I ask you a question, Emma?” I ask. Three days have passed since that incident, and despite the letters, the second prince is sending, I still haven't visited the imperial household. I pretended to be sick, but what I really needed was some rest, and my family let me have it.

I support myself by resting my chin on my hands and my elbow on the table. Emma is standing in front of me, and she appears to have seen a ghost by the way her mouth is open, and her eyes are wide.

I groan and shake my head before gazing into her eyes.

“Milady, are you sure?” She says in a curious manner. I give her the sweetest smile I've ever managed and tell her, "Start acting like me tonight at midnight because I have somewhere I have to be."

“Milady, I'm sorry to say—-“

“Emma, don't worry. Just remain in my bed. Everything will be alright. Got that?”

“But Milady---”

“Are you sure that's a yes, Emma? You see, I don't accept a no for an answer.”
