Ch 7: Invisible to the Eyes

Dear mum,

Mum, how are you doing?

I've been doing well in the Tanaya household! The president can be a little bit annoying though.

Wait, no he's very annoying!

I am so exhausted, dealing with my new husband's antics!

I wonder if you still remember me? The doctor said your dementia is getting more severe.

The next thing I know you might have already forgotten me as your daughter.

Even so, I hope that your health improves mum.

I would do anything to save you, mum. Dad is now selling DVDs and opened an online shop for figurines. I'm not sure that it will help your medical expenses, but I want to believe in dad. Even if he's already betrayed the company and gave our rights to the Kikanasih Company.

I heard that Eka staff has been taking care of you in an overseas hospital. I'm so grateful for Eka's help, despite his annoying attitude. Indonesia might be a nice place to stay, but you need better medical treatment outside Indonesia.

I think Eka did a good job to take care of mum, I'm not even sure why he accepted our false marriage in the first place. He didn't gain anything, other than the company asset and me. He's a mentally unstable man, I can't understand what he's thinking.

Nevertheless, if you're alright then there's nothing to worry about! I pray for your speedy recovery mum.

Sincerely,

Rina Suliwati

"Rina!" Yosua snapped her out from her thoughts. She just wrote a letter to her sick mother in Singapore. Even fully knowing that she won't be able to reply to her. Her thoughts have been in disarray, she could feel her chest tightened as she thinks of her mum on the hospital bed. Her dad has been regularly visiting her mum despite his financial issues.

It seems Eka worked behind the scenes to get her dad able to visit her mum. Rina scratched her stranded hair, her sad expression made her best friend Yosua worried.

"What's wrong Rin?" Yosua asked the confused woman next to her.

Both of them are sitting in a nice bustling cafe in the city, the smell of coffee intoxicated Rina. As a producer, she used to supply herself with instant coffee at home to keep herself wide awake for work. However, nothing beats the fresh smell of coffee beans in that one particular cafe.

The Wonderland Cafe, the cafe that Yosua, Rina, and Aldi used as headquarters since their school days. Rina slurped her white coffee, the smell just addicting to Rina. While her best friend Yosua, enjoyed his orange juice while reading his script papers.

"Is that script for a movie?" Rina asked her brown-haired best friend.

"Yes, it's for the newest romance movie" Yosua fixed his glasses while flashed his best smile.

Rina watched her best friend making some scribbles in his papers, a smile showing on Rina's face. She adores the way her best friend concentrates on his works.

"So what's on your mind now Rin? It's not like I asked you to meet up with me to do nothing but stare at my face" Yosua grinned playfully.

Rina twirled her newly maroon dyed hair, she scratched her neck awkwardly.

"Since when are you into dyed hair?" Yosua asked her.

"It's not me, it's Eka's maid Nabila" she sighed. "She accidentally found me looking at some dyed hair cosplayer".

"And then?" Yosua asked.

"Well, she insisted that she wants to dye my hair cause it looks lovely" Rina smiled as she remembered Nabila's help.

Yosua closed his script pages and gazed at Rina's embarrassed expression. His expressions look entertained with a hint of flirt and seducement.

"You seem to have a lovely maid from the Tanaya household, how about Eka himself? I thought you would prefer to be with your new husband than me?" Yosua grinned playfully to Rina.

"That's enough of him, he's just weird" Rina tried to avoid the topic of his new husband.

Both of them laughed merrily as they talked about the past. However, Rina couldn't help but remember Aldi's presence in the cafe. His long lost crush, and the cause of her heartbreak. She never cared about Eka's antics, even if he turns out to be an insane psychopath. However, Aldi is a special case.

"Are you still bummed about Aldi going out with a dumb rich woman?" Yosua exhaled.

"No," Rina puffed her cheeks, clearly to contain her disappointment.

"It's Aldi's decision, I'm sure he knows the risk of dealing with a rich woman," Yosua frowned. "I know he's dumb".

Yosua tried to cheer her up, I know he means well. However, she couldn't see anything positively by this point. Yosua then proceeded to bombard Rina about my marriage life with the selfish president. This made her wonder what's so special about that narcissistic husband of hers? He looks like a selfish brat who came out of nowhere to bully her.

"What's so interesting about that self-centered president?" Rina twirled her bangs.

"What? Come on now Rina! She owns lots of TV stations at this point! He's the President of the Kikanasih Company! The biggest TV station company!" Yosua giggled.

Rina still couldn't understand why women and men loved to kneel under his dictatorship. It is something that she hates the most. Rina looks outside the window, distressed by the President's behavior at home. His behavior is similar to that wild beast who craves sexual intimacy.

"Sorry, you don't seem to like President Eka huh?" Yosua frowned, realizing how annoyed Rina is.

"No, he's a strange man who needs help" Rina spoke fast. She stood up as she saw a cute looking balloon outside the cafe. The pink rabbit-shaped balloon attracted the Producer's attention, she immediately walked outside ignoring Yosua calls.

"Oh my God, it's so cute" Rina held her breath as she saw the exquisite balloon that was sold by the street vendors.

Yosua came out hurriedly, leaving the money on the cashier table. He ran toward Rina who was still amazed by the balloon.

"Geez, your liking for rabbits never changes," Yosua patted his friend's head.

Yosua bought the balloon from the vendor and gave it to Rina.

"Wait, I have to pay for it!" Rina ransacked her bag to find her scarlet wallet.

"It's fine, it's on me" Yosua smiled kindly to her.

Just when she received the balloon, she felt a cold gaze behind her. Rina could feel her spines tingling and the surface of her skin sweated profoundly. She felt as if she's being watched by someone. The Producer turned around, trying to look as natural as possible to find the eyes that had been watching her movement.

"What's wrong Rin?" Yosua asked the panicked Rina.

"Nevermind, we should go home" Rina tried to sound as natural as possible.

Since she became Eka's wife, strange things tend to happen near her. She thought maybe it's Eka's bodyguard or someone who Eka assigned to watch her over. However, sometimes she felt a murderous intent from afar. A pair of cold eyes, that's aiming to kill anyone that relatable to Eka.
