“Master Kerr sure is a lucky man… Who would’ve known such a great boon would befall him, I mean, draconic power! Master Kerr is definitely going to excel back home,” one of the guards lamented his jealousy. “Master Kerr will definitely be the new heir to the Winged Serpents, I mean come on! Draconic power! Although the Pearl Spider’s attack capabilities were mediocre, its speed was alarmingly quick, often attacking in groups, even other beasts feared them. ‘These Spiders prefer to ambush in groups, so why is there only one?’ Zephyr thought as he quickly scanned the room for answers. The answer came in the eight or so Spider carcasses that littered the cave floor. It was obvious they had been cut down by a great blade. ‘It would seem Kerr did away with them, that blade of his sure is something…’ Zephyr grimly thought.Zephyr let out an Earth-shattering fist, smashed the Spider to a pulp before he quickly picked up his pace. He summoned Lightfoot once again to ease his journey. After about 10 minutes of swift steps, Zephyr stopped, but not on his own accord. A large gust of energy had come suddenly, it crushed Zephyr’s fortitude, and halted his progress. Zephyr realized something, not only did Kerr seem unaffected, but he was also very energetic. “That’s it! It must be the nature of the Winged Serpent school!” The Winged Serpents were, by nature, focused on snake-like elements in their teachings. Naturally, snakes and dragons were similar in both shape and style. If one trained hard enough, they may transcend snake-status and evolve into a dragon-styled fighter. Through this method, one may bypass the Way to achieve dragon-hood. Whether achieving mastery over it in this school led to one becoming a dragon, Zephyr did not know, but what was clear was that Kerr, and potentially his kin are unfazed by this draconic power due to their innate training.Zephyr squinted at Kerr, at his level, Kerr could focus his energy into venomous attacks, possibly even capable of corroding materials. The Ouroboros flew at Zephyr and sped up like lightning — carrying with it cunning deceit and absolute poison to stop him. Simultaneously, the golden ray of mystical energy found itself in contact with Zephyr as he reached out for the draconic energy. A great roar ensued, Zephyr felt as though he was being split open, not by the blade, but by the immense force thrust upon him by the golden kindle. Zephyr tried to focus his Might, to recite the Way, but before he could do so, his body instinctively absorbed the energy.Zephyr coughed, the blow from the Ouroboros had hit hard, he felt as though his back had split open, his insides reeled from the blow. He found his lips matted with blood, the cave floor painted with his freshly expelled blood. Zephyr could feel great roars that rose from within, he felt as the dragon struggled and trashed inside him. Even though he had been studying the Way for a while now, Zephyr was never a dragon in the first place. Therefore, the draconic powers within him naturally resisted. “Hmph!” Zephyr tried to control the rising urges, a trickle of blood leaked out from his mouth. Zephyr had already taken a severe hit from Kerr and is now struggling with the draconic energies within. He had to fully absorb the energy, fully incorporate it into his very being, otherwise, he might not see the light of day. Zephyr was on the run, Lightfoot could only get him so far, and Kerr was still on his tail. Suddenly, a great change erupted within Zephyr. He felt a great dragon rise from within, and stirred everything in its wake. Zephyr focused his all into controlling and maintaining the transition. After all, draconic energy was not to be messed with. Commoners who ever find themselves in position with a strand of this divine power could already be improved manifold, moreover, having a power as great as this?Slowly, Zephyr bridged the gap between himself and the draconic powers, from within, a strange feeling sprouted. It was an indescribable feeling, like a hug from a mother, everything Zephyr did was immensely calming. Zephyr felt as though he had achieved dragon-hood, completely tuned with the Earth and sky. He could feel every fibre of muscle in his body being filled with incredible power, it pulsated endlessly. He could even feel all his energy channels eagerly burst open, ready to absorb more draconic energy. The injuries he sustained from Kerr healed quickly, strengthened even.

“I’ve broken through to a Strength of level eight, although there's a difference of two levels, I can already feel my power boiling over. Hell, it might even be stronger than an actual Strength of level eight,” Zephyr nodded approvingly as he felt every drop of power in every inch of his muscles. The true energy within him brimmed. Even though he was much stronger than he was before, the two scales he had had further augmented it, thus allowed incredible fortitude. The Way allowed it’s user to conjure 30,600 individual dragon scales, each of them contained an insurmountable amount of power, much like a sliver of draconic Might.Zephyr burst forth a fist, his scales shined brightly at the act of it and transferred unimaginable powers into his arm, through to his fist. “Hmph!” Zephyr flashed a wry smile; he had not stopped there. Zephyr dove through the water curtain, out into the Forest, and went after Kerr, still mid-flight. Zephyr reminded Kerr who he was dealing with, he stomped onto Kerr, and it sent him crashing down into the ground below. Kerr let out a scream of pain, both hearing the snapping of bone as they crashed into the dirt, it even sent out shockwaves that ruffled the trees. As the dirt kicked up, the leaves fell gently down onto the cracked grounds below. As the dust clouds dissipated, it revealed Zephyr as he stood upon Kerr above a web of cracks, like a spider with its prey.Kerr coughed a fit, and spewed blood out onto the ground, his looks showed of the disbelief he felt. He stared up at Zephyr, eyes full of hatred. He could not believe how an insect like Zephyr had bested him, and now standing atop him.
