Chapter Seventeen (Dane’s POV) Decades before…

The sky rumbled and lightning flashed ominously, I knew what was coming and we needed to get the hell out of there. Taking a deep breath I pressed a kiss to her forehead and muttered.

“Trust me when I say, I truly hate to break this up, but we need to leave now!” I said, causing her to withdraw from me. She gazed up at the sky and directed a frightened gaze at me.

“More of him coming for my ass,” I said and got up, reaching for her wrist. I drew her close to my body and added, “I know of a place we could lay low for a bit, and I need you to hold onto me, link your mind with mind, and portal us there.”
