Chapter 7

After several months~

After observing the mortal world for some time now, I could say, I have already adjusted to their lifestyle. And all I could say about is humans are already complicated as it is, they even want to complicate the simplest matter. *sigh* I got lost in my train of thoughts when Clarise came in.

"Hey, you okay? You seem out of it these days."

"Yeah ... It's just that I'm nervous about the upcoming entrance examination for the school that I applied to go to," I said half lying. "Well okay then. Good luck later by the way!"

And yes, I have decided that I will go to a mortal school while I'm here since I found out that mortals have also been studying their behaviors and the ways how their brains work, I really wanted to study more about it and also, since I've saved up some money from working in a restaurant near here and I was also considered some kind of 'stay-in intern' here in the station I also got money there I also sold some pieces of jewelry that I brought with me. So now I basically have a hefty sum. But since they said that the money that I have right will still not be enough if I want to go to college.

But even if I get enough money to go there, I still have to connect with the higher-ups for my official papers here in the mortal world, and the nearest MMDT officer here is a bit far from here, and according to the leader of the ministry of magic, ( which by the way has been wanting me to just call him Gramps), It's a woman in her mid-30's working at some mall named Ophelia Maestas, and she seemed to be rumored to be some hard-headed badass lady. And if my suspicion is right on who she really is, then I guess getting my papers would be smooth sailing with the person I have in mind.

I just decided to go out and get some fresh air just so that I could think properly.*sigh* And maybe I could also get some work done...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When I got back I was exhausted as hell. Damn that shapeshifter! A large pain in the ass as always. After all that everything just went exactly the same way as always. It was a good day's catch of course.
"Hey, Lilan! Wanna come with me? I gotta go to a mall downtown." Clarise said peeking er head from the door. "A downtown mall? Do you mean the XX mall?" I said making sure if the goddess of luck is really on my side today. "Yeah, that one. I gotta go there now, you coming or what?"
"O-oh yeah, I'm coming! Wait for me!" I said hurrying. Oh, my goddesses! That mall is where that MMDT officer is working at!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

When we were finally at the mall, I was so amazed by all the shops there. There was a very beautiful dress that I wanted to buy but sadly I was on a very tight budget. Instead, I bought books about psychology and a few novels as well, there was even this novel that had a very pretty cover and the story seemed great as well based on the synopsis on the back but sadly it was too pricy, when I was about to put it back Clarise bought it for me saying it was her gift to me for helping out a lot in the station. Because of this, I started to reminisce about the times when Ryan and I would always go into our little forest haven to read books under the big oak tree, and I couldn't help but smile at the thought.

When we were at the department store I couldn't shake off the feeling of connection somehow. It felt like someone I know was there.  "Miss Ophelia!" I shouted which made Clarise jump in shock. So I was right! She is Ophelia Maestas. "Miss Ophelia? Who's that?" Clarise asked, quite confused. "That's Miss Ophelia!" I gleefully pointed at the woman in a business uniform walking towards us.

"Pri- I mean Lilan! How have you been dear?" She said greeting me back.

"I've been great Miss!" I said excitedly. I didn't know that seeing a familiar place after a long time can be this exhilarating. "Oh, that's good to hear! But please stop calling me Miss, that makes me sound old." She chuckled lightly. "But Miss, technically you are indeed older than me, so I presume that it's just right for me to call you Miss."  She just laughed at my response while shaking her head.

"And who do we have here Lilan?" She asked motioning at my, now confused at forgotten, company. "Oh! Excuse me, this is Clarise. She helped me after I ran away from home when my mother and father died." I said to give Ophelia a gist of the story that I have come up with.

"And Clarise, this is Miss Ophelia she was once my tutor, mentor and you could also say my babysitter,"  I said as I chuckled lightly as I reminisced at how many headaches Ryan and I gave to Ophelia.

Ryan... Oh, how I missed that guy, my best friend...  And now, my dear Mate... *sigh* "Oh, is that so? Well, I shall thank you for taking care of dear Lilan then. How about some coffee? My treat." She said quickly catching up to my story as always, she got both me and Ryan out of trouble a lot of times with that skill of hers.

"Sure we would love that!"  I said excitedly "Then shall we?" Miss Ophelia said motioning us towards the coffee shop. "Ah, yes indeed we shall..." I replied.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Thank you a lot Clarise for coming with us,"  I said when Ophelia went to order food for all of us. "Oh, it was nothing really. But now I guess you're going to leave the station now huh? Now that you've met someone you know." Clarise said sounding quite sad.
"Oh, um, actually I've been hoping that I could still stay there. And I promise to be less burdensome!" I said. I really enjoyed their company during my stay. Every day was so different from yesterday and tomorrow.
"Of course, Lilan you will always be welcome in our station, but I've also been thinking, maybe you want to come with me?" She said, satisfied with my response. "Come where?" I said confused. "To my home," Clarise announced.
"Really?!" She just nodded in agreement. "Of course, I would! That would be a great pleasure of mine!" I said as I smiled from ear to ear.
