Dickson's POV
Five years later. "Mr Dickson, Daisy Reed is the top investor in this project. She has agreed to meet with us at a fancy restaurant across town." My heart races extremely fast at the mention of Daisy Reed, Daisy? As in my Daisy? The same lady I divorced five years ago? "Can I see a picture?" I ask my secretary hastily. She nods her head in agreement and taps a few buttons on her phone screen. She turns to me and hands me the phone. I stare at the screen in awe, a photo of Daisy smiling. My jaw drops at how beautiful she has gotten over the years. She looks like she is doing well, financially and emotionally. After Daisy and I could not bear a child. I had no choice but to divorce her, out of popular demand from the pack elders. Daisy was thrown out of the house and ever since, I never got to see her. I tried searching for Daisy but I never found her, it was like she did not want to be found, she just left without any traces. Seeing her again makes me feel emotional, it rekindles old feelings that I thought I had buried over the years. I suddenly feel ashamed at the thought of meeting her, as curious as I am to see how she is doing, I would rather ask someone to do that than for to me to meet her myself. "Is she married?" I ask my secretary. She shrugs and responds. "I am not sure about that sir, do you want me to find out?" "Yes, please do. Find out everything about her. What is she up to now? Is she married with kids?" I ordered. My secretary nods her head at me. She clears her throat and pushes further "What about the meeting? You are supposed to meet her at a fancy restaurant in the next thirty minutes." She says. I sigh heavily. "You meet up with her. I am swamped with work. Just make sure to gather information about her as I had requested earlier." I state. My secretary nods her head and excuses herself from my office. I go back to working on my laptop but my mind remains on Daisy and her wellbeing. Somehow, knowing that she is living an okay life, it feels like a burden has been lifted off my shoulders. I feel less guilty knowing that she is doing well. Before the day ends, My secretary arrives back at the office. She tells me that the meeting went well with Daisy and that Daisy is more than excited to invest in my company. I can not help but ask. "What about the information I told you to gather? Were you able to at least find one or two things about her?" I ask with my brows furrowed at her in curiosity. My secretary nods her head at me slowly and speaks up in an uneasy tone. "Well first of all, Miss Daisy is a very secretive person. There is not much on the internet about her but I found out that she is not married, although she has kids." Daisy has kids? How come? "How old are they? Was she married before? How come she has kids with no father?" I push further. "She has Quadruplets, they are five years old and no, she has not been married since five years ago. Not after her divorce with youSir." Rita, my secretary says. I see that she has caught up with what is going on. Everything seems suspicious. Daisy has not gotten married since our divorce which was five years ago. How then did she have Quadruplets? Through a one night stand maybe? Then what sort of coincidence is that they happen to be five years old? Could it be that those kids are mine? I gulp a lump down my throat and my hands suddenly become shaky as I imagine that Daisy hid those kids from me, why? For what reason? Does that mean she actually wanted to divorce me? "Is it possible for you to arrange a meeting with Daisy? Send an email to her that the CEO of the company wants to have an urgent discussion with her." I say. Rita nods her head and walks away. Two days later, Rita is able to set up a meeting between I and Daisy At a small restaurant. I feel anxious as I approach the exclusive restaurant. I stare at Daisy from the glass doors. She looks extremely stunning in a corporate dress. She sits eloquently and her eyes remain fixated on her phone. I brace myself for the worse as I push the restaurant doors open. I approach Daisy and halt in my steps right in front of her. I force a smile on my face and wave at her as she rises to her feet and stares at me in what looks like awe. "Dickson." She mutters. She points to the empty seat in front of her and gestures to me to sit, which I gladly obey. I sit down and so does Daisy. "It has been a while. Have you been well?" She asks. I nod my head in agreement and direct the question to her. "What about you? Have you been doing well? What about your kids? Are they doing okay? I heard you have kids and you are not married." Daisy looks taken aback by my sudden discovery. She scoffs and raises a brow at me. "Really? I thought we were to talk business but I should have known when your secretary insisted that it was an urgent meeting." Daisy snaps at me. She rises to her feet and attempts to walk away but I hastily grab her by the wrist causing her to gaze at me. "Let go of Dickson. We are only business partners. My personal life has nothing to do with you." I ignore her and ask the question I have been meaning to ask since I saw her. "Am I the father of those kids?"I will burn them all pieces by piecesRosa's POVThe underground hideout was cold. The walls were rough stone, damp with moisture, and the air smelled like metal and dust. I paced slowly, waiting. The light above flickered.I had sent the message. He would come. And then, I heard the door creak open."Lycan," I whispered. He stepped in, his shirt wet from the rain above, his jaw tight like he had been running."You told me it was urgent."I nodded. "It is. But first... I need you."He blinked, surprised. "What?"I walked to him slowly, closing the space between us. My fingers touched his chest."We keep fighting. We keep running. But tonight... I want to stop. Just for a little while."He didn’t speak, just looked at me. His hand slowly reached out and touched my cheek."Are you sure about this?"I nodded. His lips met mine. It was soft at first, unsure. But then the hunger took over. I wrapped my arms around him as he pulled me closer. His hands moved down my back, and I pressed my b
Daisy's POVThe air smelled like metal and damp stone. I blinked slowly. My head hurts. My arms ached. My whole body felt like it had been dragged through gravel.Where was I?It was dark. The only light came from a single bulb swinging from the ceiling. I was tied to a chair. My wrists hurt. My ankles were cold and scraped.I tried to speak, but my voice cracked. My throat was dry."Hello?"No one answered.I closed my eyes, trying to remember what happened.I had met Mira in the park. She came quietly, her eyes wide. She told me she knew a place I could hide. Somewhere Rosa couldn’t find me. Somewhere safe.I followed her.We went into an old building. It smelled like mold and dust. I didn’t ask questions. I just wanted to rest. Mira had always been kind to me.But now I wasn’t sure. What happened after we went inside?I remembered a drink. Tea, maybe. Warm and sweet. Then everything went black.A sound snapped me back. A door creaked open.I looked up. A man stepped into the light.
Rosa's POVThe city was louder than usual. Sirens, honking cars, voices shouting over the rain. But inside my apartment, it was quiet. I sat on the couch, laptop open, phone buzzing every few minutes.People were still talking. Still sharing. Still guessing.Daisy was the topic everywhere.Good.I took a sip of cold coffee and scrolled through the latest comments."Is she dangerous?""Why won’t she speak up?""This girl is hiding something. I feel it."Exactly the kind of attention I wanted. My phone rang. It was Cole."She’s still not responding," he said."That’s fine. The silence is louder than words.""We think she’s staying at that motel on East Street. Jasper drove by and saw someone who looked like her.""Don’t approach her," I said. "Just watch. Let’s see who visits her.""Got it."I hung up and leaned back. My eyes were tired, but my mind was awake.Everything was working. Then my door opened. Mira walked in, soaked from the rain."You shouldn’t just walk in here," I said."I
Rosa's POVIt was raining when I woke up. The sky looked heavy, like it knew something bad was about to happen. I walked to the window and watched the drops hit the glass. The city never slept. Neither did I.My phone buzzed. I grabbed it and checked the message. It was from one of the accounts I used to spread rumors."The video is going viral."Good.I got dressed slowly, picking a grey suit this time. Sharp lines. Cold colors. It matched my mood. I had no plans to stop.Downstairs, Lycan was eating breakfast. He looked up when I walked in."Morning," he said."Did you sleep well?"He nodded, but his eyes looked tired. "The video... it's everywhere now. People at the gym were talking about it.""And what were they saying?""Some think it’s fake. Others think Daisy's hiding something."I sat across from him and poured myself some coffee. "Let them think. The doubt is enough.""Rosa, what if you’re wrong about her? What if Daisy isn't who you think she is?"I set my cup down slowly. "
Rosa’s POVI never slept much. My mind didn’t let me. Not when I was planning. That night, I sat in my office with the curtains closed and lights dim. Just me and the sound of the city below. I placed the flash drive into my laptop and watched it load. The screen blinked, then filled with folders.DAISY - BACKGROUNDFIRE INCIDENT - CHILDHOODSCHOOL RECORDSHOSPITAL FILESPSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENTSI smiled. Andre had done well. I clicked open the first file and leaned back in my chair. There it was—her life, every dirty secret she thought was buried. The past always crawled back. Especially when you poked it hard enough. The fire from her childhood was worse than I imagined. Not an accident. Not entirely. There were signs of matches, fuel, and something else. Intent. Maybe not proven, but enough for suspicion. Enough to make people talk.“Poor little Daisy,” I murmured. “Survivor. Victim. Liar.”She built her life on ashes. Now, I would burn it down again.I opened a new document and s
Rosa’s POVI stared at the photo again. It was crumpled now, the edges soft from how many times I had held it. Daisy’s face smiled back at me, fake and full of lies. I knew who she was now. Not just some mother, not just a woman trying to protect kids. She was something else. Something dangerous. She wanted something from me. And from Lycan.I didn’t understand why, not yet. But I would find out. No one goes after me and thinks they’ll win. I’ve fought harder people. I’ve survived worse. Daisy was no different. If she wanted war, she’d get one.I walked through the empty house, my heels clicking on the cold floor. Lycan was still asleep in the next room. He didn’t know what I knew. Not yet. I’d tell him when the time was right. For now, I needed to think. Plan. She had the kids now. I saw the news. They were found, rescued from the fire. Daisy was everywhere — on the screen, in the headlines. They called her a hero. I called her a threat.I stepped into the garden and lit a cigarette.
Chapter 34Daisy’s POVThe sun was too bright, glowing so bright and casting a dark hue in the sky. To rise as we left the burning estate behind. Smoke curled into the sky, and the smell of fire clung to our clothes. I held Ella close, her small arms wrapped tightly around my neck. Darlene walked beside me, her hand gripping mine firmly. Kayden followed silently, his eyes scanning the trees, always alert.Xavier led the way, his shotgun still in hand. He glanced back at us, his eyes meeting mine."We're almost there," he said softly. We reached the edge of the forest, where Mira and her team were waiting. Paramedics rushed forward, checking the kids for injuries. Mira approached me, her face a mix of relief and concern."Daisy, are you okay?" she asked.I nodded, though my body ached and my mind was exhausted."We found them, Mira. They're safe now."She placed a hand on my shoulder, squeezing gently."You did good."The paramedics led the kids to an ambulance, and I followed, never l
Rosa’s POVBlood tasted like metal.I wiped it from my mouth, my hand shaking. The hit to my temple still throbbed, pulsing behind my eyes like a second heartbeat. Smoke choked the air, and firelight danced across the broken hallway behind me. The west wall was gone just debris and flame and a hole where there used to be safety. If you could call this place safe.Kane stood in front of me, calm like always. Too calm. Like the blast hadn’t rattled the entire compound or scattered his precious plans across the floor. And then her voice cut through the chaos.“Wrong again,” Daisy said.I didn’t even get to shout before she pulled the trigger. The shot echoed. Sharp. Final. But Kane didn’t fall. The bullet clipped his shoulder. He staggered back, cursing, blood splashing against the wall. Daisy moved fast, kicking the shotgun into her grip from where Xavier had dropped it near the threshold. She didn’t hesitate.Another shot. This one went wide, tearing through the door frame beside me.I
Daisy’s POVI’ve always believed fear has a sound. It’s not the screaming or sirens or cries in the dark. No—it’s the silence that follows. The cold, echoing hum of stillness when your world has cracked open and nothing comes out.I sat in my car outside Mira’s precinct for ten minutes, gripping the wheel like it was the only thing anchoring me to reality. My ears rang. My mouth was dry. My mind? A straight line of fire. I didn’t hear my phone buzz. Didn’t hear the officer knocking on the window. But I heard the click of the safety on the gun inside my purse.I’ve never hunted anyone before. But I’ve been hunted. And that makes all the difference.-Detective Mira’s POVWe found the SUV burned, stripped, and dumped in a riverbed outside Raven’s Hollow. No prints. No plates. Just ashes and shadows. But someone had been sloppy. One of the tools in the trunk had a faint trace of blood. Forensics was already working on it. And the driver of a landscaping truck parked across the school had
