Daisy's POV

"I choose Rosa Clair as my mate."

I hear Dickson's voice echo loudly through the speakers. I stagger backward in shock as everyone roars in abrupt cheer. I cast a glance at Rosa, she flashes me an evil smirk as she makes her way towards the center of the crowd where Dickson, my boyfriend of four years stands with hands stretched towards her direction.

I gulp a lump down my throat, my entire body becomes shaky and my breathing is hitched. Why Rosa? My own step sister? Why would Dickson choose her as his mate?

I feel like a sword has been pierced right through my heart. My heart aches and my wolf howls in agony.

Dickson and I have been dating for the past four years. Two years ago, He had to go for his alpha training as it is compulsory to prepare him for his title as an Alpha.

Dickson finally returned today and it is his welcoming ceremony where he picks his mate, the one who will become his Luna. Why then did he pick Rosa?

I watch as Dickson pulls Rosa into a tight hug and plants a small kiss on her lips. They look so much in love as if Dickson and Rosa have plotted this for years.

I can no longer take the horrible sight in front of me. I turn around and scurry out of the chamber hall with tears rushing down my cheeks. I make my way up the stairs that leads to my room.

"Daisy!" A familiar deep voice yells, causing me to freeze in my steps. I turn to gaze at Dickson with anger burning through my veins. I gaze at him, his face is expressionless and his eyes remain on me.

"How could you do this to me Dickson? After everything we shared?' I yell at him, allowing the tears to flow down my cheeks. Surprisingly for me, Dickson chokes out a bitter laughter and shakes his head at me.

"Did you really think you could stand a chance with me?" Dickson spits out bitterly.

I gasp in shock at his sudden change in attitude. Dickson was never like this to me. He was always so sweet and now, he looks like an entirely different person.

"What is that supposed to mean?" I snapped at him. Dickson eyes me with disdain and shakes his head in what looks like disappointment.

"Daisy, you are too weak for me. You are an orphan and your werewolf abilities are nothing compared to that of your sister. Did you really expect me to pick you over her?" He snaps back at me.

His words hurt, they sting like hell but I have no choice than to embrace his words.

"We dated for four years Dickson, is this how you have really felt towards me?" I ask, knowing fully well that his next words are going to hurt even more. I brace myself up for it.

"Yes. You have been nothing but a weak orphan to me. I only kept you by my side out of pity and I will no longer be needing you by my side." Dickson's voice is laced with so much anger and disgust. I can not help but wonder if I had done anything wrong to him for me to receive such an insult.

Without wasting any more time, I turn around and scurry towards my room. I push the door open and break down into sobs. I cry my eyes out and Dickson's words keep replaying in my head.

I slowly shut my eyes and almost fall asleep when my ringing tone blares out loud. I groan in frustration and reach for the phone. Without gazing at the caller ID, I answer the call reluctantly and press the phone close to my ears.

"Hello?" My voice is rough from crying and my eyes are extremely swollen.

"Hello? Is this Daisy?" A feminine voice rings out loud. I pause to gaze at the caller ID and I realize the call is from Dickson. Why is it a female talking? Is this one of Dickson's schemes to torture me?

"Hello?" The feminine voice repeats.

"Yes? This is Daisy, how can I help you?" I ask.

"Apparently, your friend drank too much at our bar and I do not think he is in the right state of mind to go home himself, could you please come pick him up?" The lady asks.

Oh. Why me? As if the lady could read my mind, she continues "He keeps calling out your name and you are the last person he contacted." She says.

"Please text me the address. I will be there soon." I say, hanging up. In less than a minute, the lady sent me a text of the address. I sneak out of the house and board a taxi to the bar. Just as the lady had said, I met Dickson sitting carelessly on one of the stools outside, looking wasted.

I rush towards him and hastily help him up his feet. He smells like alcohol and cigarettes. "H-ailey, my o-ne true mate." Dickson stutters with a dirty grin plastered on his face.

"Why did you drink this much?" I snap at him but then I realize he is too drunk to understand anything I say.

I decided to take Dickson to a hotel downtown instead of taking him home. I help him lodge into one of the rooms and when I attempt to leave, Dickson pulls me back by the wrist.

He rises to his feet and pins me to the wall. I feel his hot breath dancing around my skin, it sends chills down my spine.

"Dickson, stop." I mutter in a low tone and try to push him away from me but his grip is too firm.

Dickson plants kisses around my neck. His eyes settle on my lips and in a haste, he kisses passionately. I become swayed by his charm. I kiss Dickson back.

Our kisses eventually lead to a one night stand, one that will hold a lot of consequences.

"That’s where you’re wrong. I was born in this city. Just like her."Rosa raised her blade. "You were banished.""Banished," Silas repeated. "But not broken."Zuri stepped closer to me. "Mom, don’t let him touch you."Silas tilted his head. "The child speaks the truth. She sees far.""Leave now," Rosa warned."Or what?" he asked. Rosa’s POVThe last time I walked this far into rogue territory, Lycan was alive. Now I walked with his name burning inside me like a vow.Every step was a promise.A warning.A threat. The trees here were twisted, darker than I remembered. The air carried something foul—like blood that had dried long ago but never been washed away.Vera walked behind me. Two of our strongest warriors, Greer and Imani, followed closely. Quiet. Focused. We were looking for a cave the scouts marked. We were looking for **him**.Ignis.But I wasn’t just here for revenge.I was here for answers. And if I had to tear through a hundred rogues to get them, I would.\*\*“Are we close?” Vera asked, her voice low.I glanced at the map. “Just past that ridge.”She pulled her dagger tighter to her belt. “Good. Because I don’t like this place.”I looked around. “Neither do I.”Imani sniffed the air. “Wolves. Close.”“How many?” I asked. She frowned. “Too many.”I drew my blade.“Stay ready,” I warned. “This reeks

Daisy’s POVThe air was colder than usual. Maybe it was the wind. Or maybe it was fear.We left camp before sunrise.Zuri, Rosa, Vera, Lycan, Dickson, and me.Our destination was the **Crimson Wastes**—a dead forest burned in an ancient war, where Rosa believed Ignis might be hiding. No birds sang there. No animals walked. Just ash. Trees like skeletons. Smoke in the air, even though nothing burned.Zuri walked beside me, her hand in mine.“I’m not afraid,” she said.I squeezed her fingers gently. “I am.”She looked up at me. “Why?”“Because fire doesn’t choose randomly. If Ignis is watching you, it’s for a reason.”Zuri went quiet.I didn’t say more. But I could feel something changing inside her—growing stronger. And it scared me.Rosa’s POVWe reached the edge of the Wastes by noon. The land was black and broken. The trees had no leaves. The ground was cracked. The sky looked darker here.Vera pulled her jacket tighter. “This place smells like death.”“It is,” I said. “No life grow

Daisy’s POV / Zuri’s POV / Dickson’s POVDaisy’s POVI was cutting apples in the kitchen when Zuri screamed. Not crying. Not whimpering.Screamed.The knife dropped from my hand.I ran.“Zuri!”I threw the door open. She was on the floor of her room, holding her head, shaking.“Zuri! Baby, what’s wrong?”Her eyes were wide. Her lips trembled.“He’s here.”“Who?”She pointed to the window. “The man from my dreams.”I rushed to the window. Nothing.“Dickson!” I shouted. He came running.“What happened?”“She saw something again. She says he’s here.”Zuri clutched my hand. “He’s not outside. He’s… inside.”Dickson turned. “Inside the house?”“No,” she whispered. “Inside someone’s head.”Zuri’s POVI didn’t know how to explain it.He was whispering again. Not in my ears, but inside my mind.“He says the moon is dying,” I told Mom.She stared at me. “Zuri, what does that mean?”I looked at her. “He’s coming when it turns black.”Dickson knelt beside me. “Zuri, focus. Daisy’s POV“What We Choose To Feel”It was the silence after storms that always scared me most. The stillness wasn’t peace. It was waiting.I sat alone on the edge of the porch, the night heavy with dew. Stars overhead blinked lazily, uncaring of the chaos that had passed.Zuri was asleep.Tobi too.For the first time in what felt like years, there were no screams, no knives, no blood pooling in corners of rooms we once called safe.Just this moment. And me.Then the door creaked behind me.I didn’t have to turn to know it was him.“Couldn’t sleep either?” Dickson asked quietly.I shook my head.He stepped beside me, barefoot, shirt clinging to him from the heat of the house. There was a tiredness in his eyes, but something more—a tightness in his jaw, a quiet storm behind those eyes.We didn’t speak for a while. Not because we had nothing to say.But because we were finally ready to say everything.“Zuri told me something today,” I whispered. He glanced over. “What was it?”“She sai

Tobi and Zuri’s room was at the far end. I opened the door slowly.Zuri was gone.My heart stopped. Then a whisper.“Mom?”She stood by the window, arms wrapped around her stuffed bunny.“Zuri!” I rushed to her. “What are you doing?”She looked up at me. “He’s watching us.”I knelt beside her. “Who?”“The man from before. The one who hides now.”My blood turned cold.“Lycan?” I asked carefully. She shook her head. “No. Someone worse.”Dickson’s POVThe air had that old scent—metallic, bitter, wrong.I stood on the porch while Daisy checked Zuri again.Kelvin approached, gun slung over
