This was a different life, William thought to himself; different indeed! Marriage had always been a scary path for him, but, he was married to the most beautiful girl in the world-- to the love of his life. The newlyweds lived in a one bedroom apartment on Love lane. William was informed of his father's death, it had been ten years since he last saw his Father. The old man did not witness his son's wedding. Old man Johnson hated the path in life his son had chosen, he was a well-respected man in the society; a feared one. Everyone knew about the Johnsons on Mermaid street. One day, when William decided to leave his parents in pursuit of his freedom, Mr Johnson threatened his son that if he leaves, he wasn't to step his feet into the mansion again, despite the threat, William left, his action had broken his Father's heart and William never stepped his feet into the mansion for a long time. At the mansion, everyone sat in the living room, it was a large room with a high ceiling, large red drapes hung all over the room. Large blue couch-chairs and sofas took their places in different positions of the room. A thick blue rug rested underneath their feet on the ground, it covered the whole room, matching with the chairs and drapes, they all gave the room a dark, warm peaceful feeling. There were four table lamps in the four corners of the living room, they were the only source of light in the room. The lawyer, Mr Edward Peters scanned through the documents he had spread out on the large, brown centre table, with a little torchlight and his reading glasses. It'd been a week since the burial, it rained all through the week, but somehow William and Amelia managed to move their belongings away from the little apartment into the mansion, their new home! Everyone was settled in and life in the mansion had begun. The old red, brick mansion had been passed on from parents to children over the years, it was a tradition. December 20th! Only a few days to the popular celebration-- Christmas. It had snowed all through the night, the next morning was chilly. Mermaid street looked stunning with the combination of the snow on every roof top, the paved cobbled roads, the lined up houses on both sides of the street, and on every house, there were red and green flowers and lights. The street glowed in its glory! After all, it is the most popular street in London, its name, unique! The schools were on holiday, the Rye railway stations, were filled with people, the trains brought in people for the holiday and some traveled out of the town for the season.
