Chapter 5

Julian (Simeon) Pov

Allison.

Or, as I had known her for one unforgettable night: Red.

Seeing her downstairs in the foyer, standing next to Sarah, had felt like a sudden, violent jolt to my system. I had spent the last two months trying to track down the sharp-tongued, captivating woman who had vanished from my bed before I woke up, leaving nothing behind but lingering scents of vanilla and cherry—a deadly combination—and a bruise on my ego.

To find out she was the daughter my new stepmother wouldn’t stop raving about was a twist I hadn’t expected, but one I was absolutely going to explore

Allison choked out, her voice trembling as she tried to find her footing. She stepped slightly in front of her friend, a pathetic attempt at a shield. “What do you think you’re doing?

“Sarah is on a call with my father, completely occupied,” I said, walking slowly into her space. The room was shrinking with every inch I closed between us. “And downstairs, I was playing by her rules. Up here?” I closed the gap. “We’re playing by mine.”

I let my eyes trail down her body, watching the way her chest heaved with each breath. She was terrified—her pulse visibly fluttering against her throat. Yet beneath the panic, I could see that same fierce spark in her eyes that had driven me mad at the bar. She wasn’t as brave as she wanted the world to think.

All my attention on the pretty little deer—or fox—right in front of me, and I couldn’t wait to sink my teeth into her. A wicked smirk pulled at the corner of my mouth.

As I stood towering over her, the intoxicating scent of her hit me instantly, obliterating two months of frustration. I reached out, my fingers gently catching a strand of her hair, twisting it around my finger as I brought it to my nose, forcing her to tilt her chin up to look at me.

“What do you want, Julian, if that is even your real name?” she said. Defiance earned a laugh from me. There’s the brave girl I know. My hand let go of her hair, instantly wrapping around her waist and pulling her flush against my chest. I forced her chin up with my other hand, making her maintain eye contact.

“Settle down. That’s no way to greet your new stepbrother,” I said.

Allison’s eyes flared with pure rage. She didn’t look like a trapped deer anymore—she looked like a dog ready to bite. “Stepbrother? You have got to be kidding me. You lied about your name at the bar, and you’re lying to my mom, pretending we just met.”

“I didn’t lie about anything, Red,” I said, my grip tightening on her waist, anchoring her small frame against mine. “Simeon is my middle name. I just didn’t feel like sharing the family legacy with a beautiful stranger who was planning on slipping out of my bed before sunrise.”

“Let me go,” she hissed, her hands pressing hard against my chest. “I mean it, Julian. I’m leaving.”

She wrenched herself out of my grip with a sudden burst of energy and bolted toward the door. In two strides, I easily overtook her. Just as her hands reached for the door handle, I slammed my hand flat against the door above her head. The heavy thud vibrated through the wood, cutting off her escape. I pressed my body completely against her back, trapping her between the door and me.

“You’re not going anywhere,” I growled against her ear.

Allison spun around, her back hitting the locked door, her eyes wide as she found herself cornered. The air between us was practically vibrating, thick with a dangerous, intoxicating heat that neither of us could deny.

Slowly, I leaned down, trapping her between my arms on either side of her head. My eyes dropped to her lips—the lips I had been thinking about for the last couple of months.

“Do you have any idea what it’s been like?” I growled as my face hovered inches from hers. “Two months, Red. Two months of waking up to a cold bed, wondering where you went. I missed these lips. I missed the way you taste. And now you’re living under my roof?”

A breathless gasp escaped her mouth. Her defiance melted into pure, unadulterated desire as my breath brushed against her skin. She looked up at me, completely consumed by the roaring tension building between us.

I didn’t wait another second. I slammed my mouth down onto hers.

The kiss was explosive—a desperate, possessive reclamation of that night at the bar. Allison let out a soft moan against my lips. Her hands instantly flew up to grip my tailored jacket, pulling me closer instead of pushing me away. I tasted the sweet, sharp hint of vanilla and cherry as her mouth parted for me, destroying any boundaries we were supposed to keep. My hands slid down to her hips, lifting her slightly against the door as the heat between us threatened to burn the entire room down.

The sharp, heavy sound rattled the very door Allison was pinned against, sending a violent shockwave through both of our bodies.

“Ally? Darling, are you in there?” Sarah’s cheerful voice carried straight through the door, sounding entirely too close “I just wanted to check on you before I head down to the office with your stepdad!”

We both froze as we heard the door knob slowly twist. Allison’s breath hitched in absolute horror. Her hands were still tangled in my shirt, her lips swollen and flushed from my kiss. My body was still completely flush against hers, my hand tightly gripping her waist, blocking the very door her mother was standing on the other side of.

Chapter 16 Julian POV The storm outside was still raging with a relentless, violent fury, but the air inside the grand conservatory had settled into a heavy, quiet heat. It smelled of rain, warm leather, and the sweet, undeniable scent of our absolute surrender. I lay flat on my back on the plush leather sofa, my chest heaving as I held Allison tightly against my side. Her head was resting on my shoulder, her thick red hair spread across my bare chest like a sheet of pure silk, her small, delicate hand splayed over my heart. Her breathing had finally slowed — soft, even, and completely relaxed for the first time since she had arrived at this godforsaken estate. I ran my fingers slowly down the bare, smooth curve of her spine, feeling the microscopic shiver that still ran through her skin every time my calloused hands made contact with her. Every touch felt like a lawless, beautiful sin that I had absolutely no intention of repenting for. It was the kind of transgression that bu

  • The Wrong Kind Of Desire    Let It Burn

Chapter 15 Allison POV The air was thick, charged, and hot from the storm of the night before inside the grand conservatory. It was earthy, aromatic, pungent, and sweet with a strong fragrance of crushed jasmine emanating from the adjoining greenhouse. The sky was fractured with lightning, each streak flashing through the sizeable and heavy glass panels with a flickering spark of silver light. The thunder came next in no time at all, a low, guttural boom that shook the windowpanes and vibrated right through the floorboards under my bare feet. My body shook. I stood in the middle of the dark glass room, my arms wrapped around my elbows. I had come here to avoid my mother’s omnipresent and suffocating attention, but the energy of the storm outside matched the sheer turmoil I felt inside myself. I was unraveling. All my years of logic-based barriers I had erected were falling down, and I couldn’t get myself to rebuild them. Behind me, the heavy mahogany doors opened quietly with a

Chapter 14 Julian POV Every time I touched her, it felt like a lawless, beautiful sin that I had no intention of repenting for. The kind of transgression that burned through my veins like the finest whiskey — smooth at first, then igniting everything in its path. I sat in the heavy leather chair of my study, the one that had belonged to my father before me, its worn edges creaking faintly under my weight as I stared blankly at the corporate merger documents spread across the massive oak desk. The rain hammered against the tall windowpanes with a furious, relentless rhythm, mirroring the dark, possessive thoughts that paced through my mind like a caged predator. The papers were a mess of legalese and financial projections — distribution clauses, asset reallocations, and non-compete agreements that could make or break Vance Dynamics. But none of it mattered. Not really. My amber eyes traced the lines without seeing them, my mind replaying the stolen momen

  • The Wrong Kind Of Desire    No Turning Back

Chapter 13 Allison POV With Julie gone, the mansion didn’t feel like a luxury estate anymore. It felt like a hollow, gilded cage, and I was the bird trapped inside. Her side of our shared bedroom was painfully empty. The mattress was stripped bare, the closet doors left wide open, and the silence in the room was deafening. I paced the length of the hardwood floor, my bare feet making silent contact with the cold wood as I stared at the blank space where her suitcases had rested just twenty-four hours ago. Every time I closed my eyes, I was dragged straight back to the pool — to the devastating, shattered look on her face when she caught us. She had left at the crack of dawn without saying goodbye, leaving me completely alone to face the consequences of a forbidden desire I had no idea how to control. The guilt was a physical weight, pressing down on my chest until every breath felt like a struggle. I had betrayed my best friend. I had lied to

  • The Wrong Kind Of Desire    No Escape

Chapter 12 Julian POV My father was sorely mistaken if he believed a mere piece of paper and a corporate merger could ever restrain me, or if he underestimated what I was prepared to tear to shreds to protect what was mine. Standing on the balcony, I watched the early morning fog roll across the estate’s sprawling lawn. Looking down, I spotted a black taxi parked at the front of the driveway. Its trunk hung open, and a man stepped into view, loading a pair of suitcases inside. Julie suddenly appeared in front of the taxi. I could tell she was angry and disappointed. She opened the door, took her seat, and didn’t glance back at the mansion. She didn’t even wait for my dad and Sarah to get back to say her goodbye. As the driver turned to leave, I looked up to see Allison staring from her bedroom window as the car drove off, heading to the main gate. I took a sip of my coffee — black, no sugar, no milk, just the way I liked it. The hot, bitter taste traced down my throat. Another pr

Chapter 11 Allison POVThe morning sun was like a joke, shining so brightly through the sheer curtains of my bedroom. I sat across-legged on the bed, staring at the floor, my fingers following the outline of my collarbone, where Julian's mouth had burned last night. I was very affected and shaken. All my logic-based walls, I had erected in months, had crumbled the moment his lips touched mine.Julie was towel drying her hair as she walked out of the bathroom. "You have been staring at that wall for 10 minutes”. She looked at me as if she was playing with me, yet curious as well. Are you sure you don't have that headache anymore? You look... flushed."I put a quick smile on my face and replied 'I'm fine' quickly with my hand at my side. All the things we're going to have to get into in our two weeks here." You said you had a list of a lot of things that we wanted to do?"Julie's eyes were immediately illuminated. Of course, your mom's new home is super nice. We're definitely looking
