The wedding that was about to take place turned into chaos. It was all because the bride mysteriously disappeared, and the commotion caused the Marino family to be in a state of frantic panic.
“You have to replace your sister and get married, Bella,” said Veronica, her adoptive mother.
“Why me, Mom?” she looked at her adoptive mother with a sorrowful gaze.
“You can’t refuse in a situation like this because there’s no one else but you who can replace Bianca to be Dominic Costa’s bride.”
“But Mr. Costa only wants Bianca. How could he possibly want to marry me?” She felt like her adoptive mother had gone mad for asking her to replace her sister in marrying Dominic Costa, who clearly wanted Bianca as his bride.
“I’ve already told you, you can’t refuse, Belladonna. I’m the one who raised you and took care of you. So you have to repay me by marrying Dominic Costa. Show your devotion to me as my daughter. If you don't marry him, our family business will be ruined!"
“But Mom? Isn't that fraud?”
“We will talk to Dominic Costa, so just do it. You must remember that I am the one who raised you, and if it weren't for us, you would have been dead on the streets at that time.”
Belladonna merely lowered her head and forced herself to hold back her tears.
Their first daughter, her older sister, was supposed to marry. But she unexpectedly left, claiming she wanted to pursue her career, and because of her disappearance, the Marino family was forced to find a replacement bride. Tragically, it was Belladonna who had to sacrifice herself to take her place.
She was only an adopted child of the Marino family. During a heavy snowfall, Phillip Marino found her in a thick pile of snow when she was still a baby. If her adoptive father hadn't found her, she would most likely have died.
Belladonna was a lovely twenty-two year old with slightly curled blonde hair and teardrop-shaped emerald green eyes. Her gaze was always melancholy, and she was a gentle girl. However, no one knew that she had a rare disease.
She never told anyone about it. She only found out a few weeks ago, when she went to the hospital for a checkup, that her illness was causing her to lose her memory. Her memory would deteriorate every day, and if she did not receive proper treatment, she would forget everything, even herself.
“Do it, Bella. Do it for this family. Bianca and Dominic Costa's wedding is coming up soon. So you have to replace her, as she will likely leave to pursue her career,” her mother added. “You have to show your devotion as the daughter I raised, and you have to repay me in this way.”
Belladonna lowered her head again upon hearing her mother’s words. She did owe a debt of gratitude to that family, even a debt of life. However, marrying Dominic Costa was not a good choice, especially since that man would surely turn her down.
She and Bianca were polar opposites. They had different body types. Bianca was drop-dead gorgeous, with long, straight hair. She also had a perfectly proportional body; after all, she was a model. Perhaps that was why Dominic Costa wanted Bianca. As for her, she and Bianca were like night and day.
“Do it, Bella. You have to save our family business by marrying Dominic Costa,” her adoptive father demanded this time. Of course, there was no way she could refuse his order.
“But I’m sick, Dad!” she pleaded weakly. She had to tell him about her illness so he would understand the rare disease she suffered from.
“Don't lie and pretend that you're sick, Belladonna!” Veronica went over to her daughter and grabbed her hand. “There's no time left, you have to get dressed right away because the wedding is about to start. Don't let Dominic arrive before you're ready.” She dragged her daughter to a room right away so she could get dressed for the wedding.
“I'm not lying, Mom. I'm really sick!”
“Enough!” her mother shouted, stopping in her tracks.
"Just this once, Bella. I beg you to replace your sister and marry Dominic. If it weren't for our family business being on the brink of bankruptcy, Bianca would never agree to marry him. Everyone knows who he is. You should understand why your sister ran away from this marriage, and I hope you are willing to take her place to save our family business."
“Dad?” Belladonna turned, looking at her father. She seemed to be asking her adoptive father for help. Still, he couldn't do anything and remained silent because now everything depended on Belladonna. Whether she was willing or not to replace Bianca and marry Dominic Costa.
“Belladonna!” her mother shouted again because they didn't have much time left.
She had no choice but to replace her sister and marry Dominic, even though she didn't want to. However, she owed a debt of gratitude to that family, and as a child they had saved, she was obliged to repay the Marino family.
The wedding dress that was supposed to be worn by Bianca now clung to her body, despite the dress not being quite right for her, as it had been specially designed for her sister, who had a perfect figure. However, it didn't look bad on her either.
She shouldn't have done it, as she knew that she was bound to face big problems in the future because of the marriage. But for the sake of repaying the debt, she was powerless and couldn't refuse her father and mother's wishes.
“Madam, Master requests Miss Bella to hurry, as the groom has arrived.” When a servant delivered the news, Belladonna swallowed the lump in her throat hard. If she were honest, she was extremely scared.

Outside, a man stepped inside, looking dashing in his black tuxedo. He wasn't coming to a funeral, but to his own wedding.
Dominic Costa stared intently around him, making anyone who looked at him dare not look back for long. All heads bowed as he walked across the room, and no one dared to speak. His men followed behind him, no less intimidating than Dominic himself.
As soon as he arrived, the atmosphere became tense. Everyone felt an overwhelming pressure, and no one dared to speak because they were all afraid of him.
Dominic was the most influential businessman in the city. He controlled all business, both in high society and the underworld. He was known as the most notorious mafia boss of the Costa family, so no one dared to challenge him.
Phillip Marino was deeply in debt to Dominic. He couldn't pay back the millions of dollars he owed him. Therefore, Dominic offered a marriage proposal, but what he truly desired was Phillip's biological daughter, Bianca Marino, whom he secretly admired. But what happened?
"Estelle, how can I make a lot of money— fast?" Belladonna’s question hung in the air, leaving Estelle staring at her in sheer bewilderment. It was the first time she had ever talked about money."Why? If you’re short on money, I can help you," Estelle replied, then quickly added, "Just tell me how much you need. I'll lend you some money if you need it." As her best friend, Estelle was ready to move mountains for her, especially where her finances were concerned."No need, Estelle," replied Belladonna, turning down the offer. A ghost of a bitter smile played on her lips. "I do need the money, but I can’t take it from you." She knew Estelle was kind, always the first to reach out when she was drowning."Don’t sweat it. If you really need it, I’ll lend it to you. So just tell me how much you need?”"Thirty-five million dollars," Belladonna said, her voice devoid of hesitation."What?!" Estelle’s scream echoed in the room, hearing the huge amount needed by Belladonna. "Are you insane? Wh
Dominic merely watched as Belladonna walked away. For some reason, a flicker of caring for her had ignited within him— a caring that shouldn't exist. He wasn't supposed to care about her, a woman he never wanted. Perhaps he was simply bored, getting carried away by the mood.Back in the warehouse, Belladonna wasted no time getting ready to leave, though she still desperately wanted to sleep. She reached for her phone on the table and snatched it up. A reminder chimed, alongside several unread messages from Estelle. But it was the string of notifications from her mother— missed calls and a blunt asking her to call back— that caught her eye.She was tempted to ignore it, but eventually she had no choice but to call her back and dial the number, wondering what she wanted. "What is it?" Belladonna asked the moment the line connected. "I can’t always pick up your calls.""Finally, I thought you were upset and forgot about us, so you wouldn’t answer my calls," Veronica’s voice came through,
Helena was very surprised to see Dominic coming out of the warehouse. Fearing being scolded, she didn't dare question him, but she could easily guess that he had spent the night with Belladonna. A faint, secret smile played on her lips; she felt that this was a good sign for their relationship and hoped things would get even better.Shortly after, Belladonna also followed him out. She knew she had to bathe him, and she did not want to be scolded or face his punishment. Please, let him not punish me today— I’m so exhausted, she silently prayed.Dominic moved quickly to switch off the heater that was still on in his room, so that Belladonna wouldn’t doubt him and find out that he was lying to her. As he waited for her, a dark impatience simmered within him. He couldn’t help feeling eager to bathe with Belladonna.Belladonna was still drowsy as she scrubbed Dominic’s back. Her sleep had been cut short, and yet she had been forced to do this ritual so early. She grumbled under her breath
“Pour me a drink, then get lost!” Dominic ordered, yet his expression was grim. His mood turned darker, and it was all because of Belladonna. He came to realize he shouldn’t have come to her workplace. He felt like a complete idiot for acting like that. Regret washed over him as he knew his actions had surely made her big-headed, making her think she actually mattered. As if waking from a sleep that had clouded his brain, Dominic then told Belladonna to get out.She didn’t push back. She was about to turn and leave, but before she could make it out, a flock of call girls that Dominic had summoned swarmed in. She snapped her head around as her eyes flicked across him as they crowded him, settling at his side to begin serving him.“What a freak,” she muttered under her breath, pulling the door shut.Watching her walk away, Dominic couldn’t help but curse at himself. He’d come there to get under her skin, yet he was the one looking like an idiot. She hadn’t even cared at the sight of tho
Hearing her words only caused his expression to darken; he loathed the idea of her wanting to break free from him. In his mind, he was the one who should be the one to dump her, not the other way around. He would not allow himself to be dumped by a woman, and it should be him— not Belladonna— who ended their relationship.“Well then, I'll let you try, though you know it’s impossible.” A smirk played on his lips. “Show me your efforts to break free from me, bella mia!” Dominic would watch just how long she could keep it up. It was clear to him that her efforts would be nothing but a complete waste.Belladonna said nothing. She knew he was mocking her. She was even mocking herself, because in truth, what she wanted was utterly impossible. But she had no choice left but to try.Turning her face away, she had no desire to argue anymore. Silence stretched between them; neither of them made a sound until they finally pulled up at the restaurant. Belladonna swiftly grabbed her sling bag. She
It stung. The ache flared up all over again, raw and pulsing. The bruises from last night hadn’t faded yet, and now they were worse than before as Belladonna and Dominic had spent in that bathroom for what felt like hours. Only after she had served him was she finally allowed to leave the bathroom, though she was still not yet freed to leave the house. She felt like a call girl that Dominic had paid for. The only difference? She wasn't getting a dime.Helena had been waiting for her downstairs, holding the pills she had to take. "Good morning, Miss.""Morning." Belladonna snatched the pill, already knowing it was for her. “Are these birth control pills?” she asked before swallowing them."It is, Miss Belladonna. You should know better than anyone.""Good. At least I won't have to carry the child of a monster like Dominic!""Are you alright, Miss?" Helena asked. It was a foolish question. By the look on her face, Belladonna was anything but fine. The dark circles under her eyes were
Belladonna had just arrived at Estelle's house. She wanted to take a shower at her house. Lucky for her, she left right away, so she didn't run into her husband, whom she didn't fully remember yet. She hadn't even seen his face clearly because the room was dimly lit.“You're really something, Bella
It had been almost a week since Dominic went away. During that time, Belladonna had enjoyed her life since no one was tormenting her. She had forgotten about Dominic's existence as she had never seen his face again. However, Belladonna still returned to Dominic's house because Estelle always remind
“Are you okay?” asked Estelle, who had been overhearing Belladonna’s phone call with Bianca.“I’m okay. Well, though my marriage is so miserable, I don’t want anyone to know what my marriage is really like, especially Bianca. Let her think that I’m happy with my marriage, so I don’t look pathetic.”
“So you want me to be his pet, is that it? You want me just to give in when he tortures me so cruelly, and I have to take it, Helena?”“It’s not like that, Miss Belladonna. I’m sure you won’t be tortured if you don’t go against him. Try to hold on and don't go against him. It's for your own good; o
