The Zanders Empire sextuplets
Chapter 5
Aretha's POV
My body was thrown across the room and I was sprawled on the ground, tears welled in my eyes and I blinked them back, hoping to stop them from streaming down my face.
I wasn't here for tears, I wasn't here to put on a display of pity, I just needed him to claim it lest I'd be out in the streets before daybreak.
"Get out," he said, but I firmly refused, I shook my head in refusal, still sprawled on the ground.
" You think you've got the guts to face me right?" Is this a joke or something, get out young lady, before I lose the last bit of diplomacy within me.
" I cannot leave Mr Zanders, I don't need you to take responsibility for the child, I just need you to show up to my aunt lest I'll be out in the streets by tomorrow," I said coughing choked breaths from my lungs.
I couldn't fathom how dangerous the Zanders were but I knew they weren't a small family to deal with, he could take my life in the blink of an eye and no one would be able to do anything about it.
I staggered to my feet and stood nimbly in front of him. "Mr Zanders," I called.
" I'm fucking pregnant with your child, I screamed in his face, trembling with the need for him to believe I was telling the truth, I don't need your money, I just need for to be please show up to my house and tell them you did it, I begged, falling back in despair to my knees.
He closed his eyes as if considering my words, and opened them afterward a while.
" Xavier," he called and I saw a man enter the room with a gun in his hands.
" We have Britney with us," the man said as he stood beside him.
" Bring her in," he ordered.
A woman was dragged in and I recognized her almost immediately, she was the lady that came to the hotel with him, she was supposedly the one who drugged him, leading to what happened that night.
She fell to her feet and I saw that she was battered, bruised, and injured.
She was wearing a black shirt and a pale blue shirt, and her hair looked disheveled.
I took a glance at her, not feeling an ounce of pity for her, if she hadn't done what she had done, I wouldn't be here, on my knees begging this cruel monster to just show his face to my aunt.
" Mr Zanders," she pleaded scrambling over to his knees.
" I'm sorry, I shouldn't have tried doing what I did, but I promise nothing if the sort is going to happen again," she pleaded holding onto the lengths of his trousers.
" Let go of me," he growled, kicking her backward and watching coldly as she sprouted out blood.
Her face was getting devoid of color and the bone-crunching sound filled the room.
Xavier was reeling his feet into her hands, her screams filled the room.
" Who asked you to, Mr Zanders asked, tugging her chin upwards with the barrel of his gun.
" Tell me, he growled again, with Xavier exerting more force on her already distorted fingers.
" Fuck, she screamed in pain, scrunching her face in pain. " The Ryker's" she moaned in another round of pain when Xavier shifted his feet from the first hands to another set of fingers.
" Mr. Ryker asked me to, she said in between stuttered breaths.
Xavier exerted more strength on her fingers and she screamed in more pain.
" Now tell me, young lady, do you still claim that I'm the father of the baby you're supposedly carrying," he asked turning back to look at me.
" You can have a DNA test done," I said with certainty, I wasn't willing to give up, it was my last resort to having a family.
" I know something else about the test results in your han....," the secretary was about to say when a bullet was plugged into her chest.
" Fuck," I screamed in shock, as I watched her body go numb and fall flat to the ground with a thud, I never imagined seeing the live action of unaliving a person.
A stash of cash was thrown in front of me, and he towered above me.
" Take her out of the mansion and for the sake of your family and the baby you're carrying, do not ever appear in front of me, if I see you, you'll end up the same way she did," he said motioning to the body of the secretary beside me.
" Mr Zanders, please," I begged and a gunshot flew beside my arms, a cut grazed my arms and my eyes grew in shock.
" I'm only letting you go because you saved me, I had a nice time with you and nothing else if you do not leave at this moment, I wouldn't mind killing you and towing your body away by myself," he threatened and I knew for a fact that it wasn't just a threat, he'd do it and there was nothing anyone could do about it.
" Make sure she takes the Money with her Xavier," he said and turned to walk away.
I blinked again, holding in the tears that threatened to fall from my face when he walked out on me. I was done for, the school, my aunt, my dreams, and my life, it was ruined, I sobbed silently to myself.
I stood up from the cold floor I knelt on as I was being led out of the room with Xavier.
" Take care of yourself young Lady, and listen to Mr Zanders's warning, do not appear in front of him ever again." He said as if he was giving me a friendly reminder.
The chauffeur appeared in front of me and after making sure my hand gripped the
box of cash in my hands, he let go and walked back into the house.
Chapter 20Zander's POV "Thank you for your contribution, we'll make sure to get back to you once we've found the best teams we can find," I said, gesturing for the man to leave. He nodded curtly and turned towards the door when my phone rang.He paused, glancing back at me."Lead him out Xavier, and you come back," I ordered, my eyes narrowing at the unnamed number flashing on the screen."Is it still the same person?" Xavier asked and I nodded, swiping the green button."It took you a while to pick up the call, Mr. Zander, how long were you going to stew about the billions you've lost these past few days," The voice mocked, laughing scornfully over the phone."And how did you know about that?" I demanded, gripping the phone tighter."I know many things that you think I do Zander," the voice said again, chuckling darkly."You must realize that whoever told you about what's happening in my company will go down with you," I said, my tone sharp and filled with menace at nonchalant laug
Chapter 19Zander's POV "Mr Zander," Xavier called, stepping into the office. "What's the news?" I asked, turning to look at him."We've managed to pull down all the news and information that spread the news about you," He said and I turned with a bitter scoff."You think that's going to change anything?" I asked. "I believe that it will, various content come up on the Internet and it'll be soon forgotten," Xavier said, looking up at me."I'm pretty sure you know very well how the company stocks have been dropping in the past few days, I'm losing billions because of this fucking news Xavier," I said, barely holding back my anger."Have you gotten any leads on the call and who leaked the news?" I asked, but he shook his head."We've been reaching a dead end every time we were close to finding out the person who posted it," he said, making me clench my fist."We think it might have been made from a burner account,""And the call?" I asked again."There has been no lead about it, decry
Chapter 18 Aretha's POVI woke up to the soft beeping of a monitor and the faint murmur of voices outside the door. My body felt heavy, but the stabbing pain in my abdomen had dulled to a manageable ache. The sterile scent of the hospital filled my senses as I blinked, adjusting to the dim light of the room."She's awake," a female voice said softly. My eyes darted to the figure sitting by my bedside—Doctor Liam. He had already changed into his scrubs, and his eyes were shadowed with fatigue."How are you feeling?" he asked, his voice gentle as he leaned closer.I swallowed, my throat dry. "Better... I think." My hand instinctively went to my stomach. "The babies...?""They’re fine," he assured me, a small smile breaking through his exhaustion. "You gave us all a scare, but they’re strong. Just like their mother."I let out a breath I hadn’t realized I was holding, tears pooling in my eyes again. Relief, exhaustion, and gratitude all mingled together, leaving me speechless."You need
Chapter 17Aretha’s POVThe house felt unusually quiet as I sat on the bathroom floor, throwing up everything that was in my stomach. My eyes were getting blurry and I could feel myself losing strength. The thought of falling unconscious in the bathroom irked me together with the disgusting sight of the puke splattered across the sink.I switched the flush, watching the puke go down the drain, and moved to leave the bathroom, holding the door knob when I felt my knees buckle to nothing. It turned to jelly as I fell back to the floor, clutching my stomach protectively.I winched in pain, batting my eyelids to hold back the tears that brimmed in my eyes as I gripped the door again, moving to get up. My fingers grazed the wooden frame of the door, but I fell back again, hitting my back against the tiled walls.I could see the splinters from my fingers on the door and the throbbing ache of my fingers a painful sensation shooting through my body.I shifted slightly, hoping the discomfort w
Chapter 16Aretha's POV "I wrapped my hands around my body, the biting winter seeping through my coat made my body shudder, a nauseous wave hit me as I stepped down from the car and approached the hospital's entrance."Miss Aretha," a familiar voice called out, pulling my attention.Doctor Liam, my attending doctor called from a distance as I stepped into the hospital, a smile washing on his face as he strode towards me."Doctor Liam," I greeted, accompanied by a slight bow of my head."You shouldn't do that, you're in your first trimester and unnecessary strain could lead to complications," He cautioned, moving to take my bag from me."I know you have other important things to do, you should leave to do that and not waste your time with me," I said, haggling the bag from him."Every patient is important," he said with a small smile."But you, Miss Aretha, are most important to me," he said, managing to tear a laugh from my lips.My eyes didn't evade the countless numbers of girls, p
Chapter 15Zander's POVI stared down at the ruin my office had turned into. Papers were scattered everywhere, chairs overturned, and shards of broken glasses glinted on the floor. The once-spotless symbol of my dominance...power now mirrored the storm raging inside me."Fuck!" I roared, slamming my fist into the desk with all the force I could muster. The wood splintered beneath my hand, a jagged crack running through the center. Pain shot through my knuckles as blood seeped from the fresh wound, staining the ruined surface. I didn't care. The pain felt like a perfect escape from the burning emotion inside me.The sharp, intrusive buzz of my phone cut through the chaos, vibrating on the floor where it had landed in my earlier fury. I bent down, picking it up with bloodied fingers, and glared at the screen. The number was blocked.I frowned my instincts immediately on high alert. Few people dared to call me directly, and fewer still would do so anonymously. But now wasn't the time to
