78: confession

I was still trying to process what he had said when the children started to cheer they had already heard what he said.

"Yes Mommy, please let's stay in this big fancy room." They both started jumping on the bed, playing and giggling at the big bed. I turned to look at him.

"Why would you say that in front of them? Now I can't say no,"

he whispered in my ear. "Are you sure you can't say no because of them or because you don't want to?"

I found that in the end, he was right. I could easily change my mind if I wanted. A part of me wanted to stay in this room with him. "Fine, but only because the children want it," I told him. "And don’t hold me like that in their presence." I warned him.

"You two must be very hungry." I turned to face them with a smile.

"Yes, Mommy."

"Okay, I'll go make you something to eat. Don't worry. You don't have to stress about that, I'll ask One of the guards to prepare something for them to eat."
