View MoreâAira? Sweetheart? What are you doing there?â I immediately turned and saw Mom looking at me.
âIâm washing the dishes, our maids are busy cleaning the rooms, and the other helpers are cleaning-- â
âSweetheart, thatâs why we have a helper for them to clean and do the housework here. Let go of that! Look at the dirt on your hand!â
Mommy pulled my hand near the sink and washed it. She took the soap and soaped my hand. Then she took some alcohol to put in my hand.
She made me stand by her side while our helpers were in front.
âWhy did you let Aira wash those plates!! Do you all want to be fired!â Irritation filled Momâs face.
âMommy, itâs not their fault. Iâm just bored, so I washed...â I didnât finish what I was about to say when Mommy faced me while gazing at me.
âWhy is it that when youâre bored, youâre cleaning or youâre washing things, when youâre bored tell me because we can go shopping, weâll buy everything you want?â I scratched my left eyebrow.
Our helpers all bowed and I could even see the shaking hands of others. Is it my fault? I shouldnât just wash! I couldnât just ignore all those plates.
âI still have a lot of clothes. I want nothing. You bought and gave me everything already.â
I mean, I only want one, but I know they canât give it. I only want a normal life like other people.
Everybody said that Iâm lucky to have a beautiful and caring Mom, also a loving dad. Ever since I was a child, they give me all the toys that I want, and they buy me everything that I want. They spoiled me because Iâm their only child.
Yeah, right? Iâm lucky to have both of them. But why do I feel like I donât belong here, that I donât deserve all of this?
Iâm not happy at all. I think everyone treats me nicely because my mom and dad are successful in business.
âWe should give everything because youâre our one and only daughter. In this mansion, youâre a princess and a princess shouldnât do anything like this.â
âOkay,â I frowned.
I slowly approached her and hugged her. âIâm sorry, donât be mad at them Mommy. Itâs not their fault.â
She combed my hair using her right hand.
âAll right, go back to your work,â Mommy said to the maids and hugged me back.
I pressed my lips together and spoke. âMommy,â
âHmm?â
âCan I come out?â
âWhat do you mean? Why do you want to go outside?â
âI just want fresh air.â
âThereâs air-con here--â
âFresh air Mommy,â I repeat.
She blows a loud breath. âOkay fine, but let Yaya Celine come with you, okay?â
âOhm, okay,â I replied.
âYaya Celine, monitor her, understood?â Mom says seriously.
âYes, SeĂąorita Kiara.â
âThanks, Mom!â I hugged her even tighter and rushed out. I almost fell, but thankfully Yaya Celine held my hand.
âThanks, Yaya Celine!â
We both walked into the garden. I saw our gardeners. I waved at them, so they waved at me too. We have a large garden and many flowers. Mommy loves flowers, and so do I.
When we got to the gate, our two guards were there, looking at me, blinking.
âDo you have permission, Senorita Aira?â Yeah, they wonât open the gate for me when I donât have any permission from my mom.
Mommy is very strict with me. Sheâs just worried that something bad might happen to me when I go outside alone.
They're scared that might happen again 10 years ago, I got kidnap and yeah, they did pay those guys who kidnapped me just to get me safely back to them.
âYeah, mommy says that Yaya Celine will come with me to watch over me,â I said, smiling at them. They nodded and opened the gate.
âSenorita, I thought we were just going outside the garden. Your Mommy will scold me for this for sure.â
Yaya Celine is 40 years old. Sheâs been working for our family for a long time.
âI said that Iâm going outside. You heard she agreed, didnât you?â I asked, and she just shrugged.
âI think your Mommy misunderstood you,â she said softly.
âSenorita, where are we going?â Yaya Celine asks.
âI donât know,â I answered and looked around.
We are now on the road where there are many people and vehicles.
âSenorita, you might get lost,â I looked at her hand because it was holding the hem of my dress. I raised my eyebrow when she immediately removed her hand.
âIâm sorry.â I look at her, confused.
Why is she saying sorry? She did nothing wrong.
âWhy are you saying--- wahh! Look Yaya Celine, thereâs an Ice cream!â I pointed to the man who was selling Ice cream.
âSenorita, youâre not supposed to eat outside food. Your Mommy says that you're not allowed to eat outside.â she said.
âThen Iâll buy an Ice cream and eat inside so itâs not forbidden.â I giggled.
âYour Mom said, all you have to eat is home-cooked or maybe cooked by professional chefs... if you want to eat Ice cream, let me tell her so she can call--â
âWhy would Mom have to buy some expensive Ice cream when thereâs a cheap one in here? Itâs only 5 and 10 pesos, I think it tastes the same.â
âThatâs why Senorita Aira, itâs cheap and maybe you might get sick. You donât know how they made that thing.â
âWhy would I get sick? Donât overreact, eating cheap Ice cream is not deadly, Yaya Celine.â
Gosh, she acts like mom. In food, mom wonât let me buy any food that is not cooked by her or a chef.
âDo you have money?â I ask.
âPardon? I donât have any money, Senorita Aira.â
âWhat?? I also donât have money. How can I buy Ice cream if I donât have one!â I just frowned and scratched my head.
I walked towards that old man and looked at the children who were buying ice cream from him.
âDo you want to buy it?â The old man asks me.
Can I buy it without money? I think thatâs not possible.
âDo you want to buy?â he repeated.
âSorry, I left my money at home. Ohm, can I just pay you later?â
âSenorita, nothing is free now. If there is, thereâs a replacement,â she whispered in my ear.
âWhen was the last time you ate ice cream?â I scratch my shoulder.
âI donât remember when,â I answer while my eyes are on the ice cream that heâs selling.
âWhat flavor do you like?â He asks and smiles at me kindly.
âChocolate please,â
When he handed it to me, my smile widened.
âIâll pay you later-- â
âYou donât need to. Iâll give it to you for free. Thatâs the only ice cream left.â
Wait, did he just say that heâll give this to me for free? Really? Heâs too nice to give this to me, even though weâre strangers. Once I see him again, Iâll give him money to buy land and build his own business!
âIâll go ahead first, goodbye.â he smiled at me and so did I.
âBy the way, thank you!â I waved at him.
âOh, isnât he nice to give me free ice cream?â Yaya Celine just shakes her head and turns her gaze to other people.
âI think we should go back home now, Senorita Aira.â
âDo you want some?â trying to change the topic.
âNo, Iâm fine.â
âMom will get mad if sheâll know that I am eating this right now, Yaya Celine?â
âOf course she will get mad at me.â
âWhy? Why is she getting mad at you?â
Iâm the one whoâs eating this cheap but delicious ice cream, not you.
She didnât answer my question. Maybe she didnât hear me. But why does Mom always get mad at Yaya Celine or other people, even though itâs my fault? She always blames others, I feel sad and sorry for them.
We started walking.
âYaya Celine, I have a question-- â
âSenorita, youâre going to fall-- â
âSweetie, donât cry, youâll get ugly if you cry.â Daddy stopped the car, got out, and got in the backseat. He hugged me and brushed my hair using his right hand.âOnly 1 month.â I heard Momâs voice.â5 months.â We both look at each other. She took a deep breath and said. â2 months.â I pressed my lips together and said. â4 months.ââOkay fine, 4 months after that youâre going home!â I want to jump right now, Iâm so happy!âYes! Thanks, Mommy. Youâre the best! By the way, Iâm going to study there.ââWhat? You mean, you want to go to the school near your Grandmaâs house?ââYou have no friends there Aira, and you donât even know what kind of attitude they have.ââMaybe theyâre kind,â I said.âMaybe, weâre not sure.â âMom, donât overreact. Iâll be okay.â I murmured and held her hand.âAlright, weâll visit you three times a week. And donât worry about things at school, your dad and I will handle it all.âMom doesn't look happy with this but anyway my mom will be okay with this, she just n
I woke up early because I have classes right now. Mommy prepared my uniform, my bag, and my food. Mommy doesnât want me to eat food in the cafeteria. Well, Iâm used to this since middle school. After we ate, they both took me to school.âBye Mom, bye Dad. I love you!â I kissed their cheeks and waved at them both.âGoodbye, be careful, okay? Weâll fetch you after your class.â Daddy says, then waves at me too.âGood morning Aira!ââGood morning!ââMorning Aira!âThe students greeted me when I entered the university. My name is Shaira, but everybody keeps calling me Aira. Mom and Dad call me Aira too. I never heard someone call me Shaira. It would be nice if someone would call me Shaira, not Aira.âAira, do you want some?â My eyes widened because some girl was in front of me. Sheâs holding an ice cream right now. I stepped back a little when I noticed the flavor of Ice cream she was holding right now.âAira, isnât this your favorite?â she kindly asks. Everybody knows me, but I donât kn
âAhhh! Oh my gosh!â I suddenly fell into a canal on the side of the road. Thankfully, I already finished eating my ice cream before falling into this canal. I slowly turned to Yaya Celine. She was covering her mouth now while looking at me. âAre you okay Yaya Celine?â I asked worriedly. âI should be the one to ask you, Senorita!â She says.âAre you okay?â Her voice was full of concern. She held out her hand to me and helped me climb. Itâs not deep. But my ass hurt a lot and then the canal smelled so bad, like terrible.I looked at Yaya because sheâs now covering her nose. The other people looked at me, and then the others were forcing themselves not to laugh.Looking at my dress that used to be pink, now it looks like it turned black...?âDo I smell so bad, Yaya Celine?â I gaze at her, blinking. Oh yeah, I smell so bad. Even my nose is hurting because of this smell. How much more of Yaya Celine?âNo, you smell so good even though you fell in the canal, Senorita.â I canât help my smi
