“What were you doing with Darius?” he growled beneath his breath.

“I wasn’t doing anything with him! I was on my way home when he dragged me there.”

“Lies!” Caius snapped, his breathing hard and uneven.

“Caius, I swear—I didn’t even know it was Darius,” I pleaded, trying to step closer.

“I said stay back!” His growl thundered through the night, harsher this time.

Tears blurred my vision. My chest tightened as I clenched my fists and turned, running away.

Chapter 132Selene’s POV“Well, everyone believes it. I almost thought it was true.”I smacked my lips and walked out of the restroom.“Where are you going?” Mary called after me.“Well, I have to clarify things before people start spreading false—ahhh!” I yelped as my feet slipped, my body tilting.Strong arms caught me before I hit the ground. My heart thundered in my chest. For a moment, I had braced for the worst.Banana peel. Seriously? Who even eats bananas in the office and drops the peel on the floor?Out of the corner of my eye, I caught sight of the two women I had met in the elevator earlier. One of them—the one I had caught from falling—stood at the entrance glaring daggers at me. She turned sharply, heels clicking hard against the floor as she stormed off.I finally blinked and looked up—straight into Director Caius’s face. The office erupted in applause.“Are you okay?” Caius asked, his voice low but steady.I stepped back quickly, nodding. “I’m fine.”“Wow, you’re the m

Only after taking a slow sip did he finally set his gaze on Chris.“Yes, I did.”“Then why is he still alive?” Chris demanded.Darius exhaled heavily. “Be calm. It’s not easy to take down Caius.”Chris slammed his fist on the table, the sound echoing through the room. “I do not care. You are werewolves—tear each other apart if you have to! All I want is Selene,” he growled, his voice dropping deep with obsession.Darius swirled his drink lazily before setting it down. “Are you done?” he asked flatly. Then, without warning, he stood and punched Chris in the face, sending him crashing to the ground.“

My eyes searched his, desperate for him to believe me.Instead, he flicked my forehead lightly and chuckled. “You are one naughty little wolf.”I couldn’t help but smile.“I told you to always carry the protective tools I gave you around.”I sulked, frowning. “Well, someone was too busy smooching at the other end of the room, and I forgot to grab my bag.”He smirked. “My little wolf is jealous.” His face inched closer to mine.My cheeks burned, and I leaned back, but he only closed the gap even more.“Director Caius…” I whispered, my voice trembling.“When you saw me and Mary,” he asked softly, “what ran through that naughty little mind of yours?”My lips twitched, but I couldn’t bring myself to answer. Chapter 128Selene’s POVI walked down the street, trying several times to stop a cab, but not a single one was in sight. What a bad day.Why did I even run away like that? I palmed my face, groaning at myself. I made it so obvious.I shouldn’t care who he goes out with, who he kisses, or who he loves. But why did I feel that way when I saw him and Mary in such a position?I clutched my chest tightly and exhaled, trying to convince myself it was just exhaustion.Once everything is over, it will all be done with.My parents’ graveyard wasn’t far from the neighborhood, so I decided to stop by.I entered the cemetery and sat on a flat stone beside my parents’ graves.Staring at the carved names, I smiled sadly.“I hope you’re not upset with your daughter for not bringing flowers today?” I muttered softly.“Mom, Dad… soon I’ll finally have peace. • The chosen luna   Chapter 127

Chapter 127“You came for the report too sir?” Director Caius nodded at Mary's words, his eyes on me. I diverted my gaze avoiding his eyes. Mary glanced at both of us and excused us. “Wait.” Director Caius said all of a sudden. He looked at Mary then walked closer.“What's your name?” She looked dazzled but recovered immediately.“It's Mary, I work in the same department as Selene.”Director Caius had a hard expression. I looked at the both of them the atmosphere becoming awkward.“Why are you here?” I asked breaking the tension.“I came to check the site. Is that a crime?” He said causally. He was a werewolf anyway, he would no better how to deal with a situation like this.“Mary, can I see you?” Director Caius furrowed his brows walking to another room.I was baffled, my eyes fluttering and closes at his retreating figure. What the hell does he have to say that he can't say right here? How ridiculous to even think I took his words serious. No wonder he was just staring at her.“
