"What is it?", I asked. My once warm, lust filled body turned to ice with panic. Grayson roughly ran his hands through his hair, I inched off the desk as I could hear his panting quicken with anger. 

"The rogue mutt... They've lost his scent. He's gone underground".

"That's a good thing, isn't it? He's hiding because he's scared and is probably waiting for the heat to die down before running off again, right?", I asked, a hint of hope rang through my voice. 

"Or, he's laying low and scheming something. Don't be so naive, Laila! You saw the hatred in his eyes, he threatened you for fucks sake!". 

I shivered as Grayson's words echoed throughout the office. 

"We have to leave. We need to get you back to the packhouse, back to safety. I'll have Jaxon double the guards when he gets back".
