Chapter 25

The door to the room burst open, causing Kirk and the guard to jump up out of their seats. I watched as Laura looked toward the latest addition, her eyes filled with recognition and something else as she smiled at the stranger. 

I turned my head slightly to get a view of whoever had just entered the room. I was expecting to come face to face with the wolf responsible for my being here, why else would the men behind me jump up with respect, or was it fear?

As my eyes roamed up the long legs of the man before me, I could feel my mouth fall open in pure shock as I looked into the eyes of someone I knew. Hope filled my heart as I thought I was being rescued, but that hope was soon crushed as it dawned on me, this wasn't my rescuer... He was my captor.
