Ariel opened her eyes with much difficulty. She was wondering where she was, and why the bed in the afterlife was this soft. Smiling, she flapped her legs on the bed. She may have been stupid and died a careless death, but at least she was glad she had made it to heaven.

She rolled on the comfy king sized bed and giggled in excitement. She was in heaven. The immaculate white sheets and the big white shirt she had on was proof. Axel emerged shortly with a cup of hot coffee. Ariel sat up in shock. Why was the man from her dream in heaven? And why was he looking at her like she was the dumbest thing he had ever seen.

She looked at the shirt she had on, and touched her body. Her eyes widened in panic, the red dress she had on prior to now had been replaced by this sexy spicy smelling shirt with big sleeves.

Had he changed her clothes. She crossed her arm over her chest, feeling violated. There was a pervert in heaven as well. “My servant changed your clothes if that makes you feel any better.” He informed her as he handed her a cup of coffee. She took it politely. Ariel was surprised she was not dead, and she was not in a hospital, despite being beaten up with a bat by several thugs. She tucked away the painful memory at the back of her mind and aggressively gulped down the tea. “I'm not surprised you were a wild dog in your past life.” He scoffed, taking a look at his tab. His stocks had skyrocket by thirty percent. The wealth he had accumulated his entire life time was spreading, and he had got the girl who could lift his curse and aid his return to the sky. After a wedding, the gods would assume she had forgiven him and they were cool, he just had to get rid of her after a few months, what other bond could be stronger than marriage. “You'll marry me.” He quickly offered the shocked Ariel. “I'll protect you, and I'll give you a lot of money beyond your wildest dreams. What a poor girl like you needs the most." Feeling insulted, Ariel snapped.

"I don't need your money, and I'll never accept a dime from you."

"That's all I'll be taking from you in return for saving your life. If the marriage works you can take your leave, I won't be needing your services anymore.”

She scoffed, what on earth did he mean by if the marriage works? The marriage would not need to end if it works.

Ariel wondered if he was nuts, who on earth proposed marriage like that? He dropped a strange quill and paper on the bed. "Sign on the paper if you accept."

“I'll be back for your response in two hours. Think hard, and consider everyone you need to.” He purposely added and left the room. He knew she had someone she was fond of. He left her to ponder on his offer.

He was right, Khan, her little orphanage friend turned brother, needed a kidney transplant. She would also need money and power to get back at a popular singer like Bianca, and her wealthy fiance Damien.

Ariel lost both parents before she turned seven years old. She had a harsh childhood, she was forced to grow up so fast that she could not afford to be a child. She worked two shifts in a night club and a bar, and sang for Bianca in her spare time during Bianca's concerts. But one thing she never lacked were fashionable clothes and gifts. Bianca loaded her with so much gifts to divert her attention from the fact she was being cheated. What started off as a singing trial between two best friends hand woven itself into a deal between a celebrity and a ghost singer. Bianca took her on fancy vacations and restaurants. Ariel who had received the bare minimum all her life felt like taking her place would be betraying Bianca. All Bianca’s gestures seemed so huge to her. She knew Bianca was not earning much, she was doing the little she could to compensate her. But even that was a lie, Bianca kept her real income carefully hidden while she fucked her boyfriend (Damian). The thought of both of them and the nights she spent composing love singing to Damian upset her stomach.

If she left this man, she had no idea where else she could go. Bianca and Damian were going to finish what they started. Ariel was confused, her life was crazy right now. A handsome stranger who looks like a representation of the word “sexy” pops out of nowhere and offers to solve all her problems. Accepting his offer would be crazier, but that was what she was going to do. She had to survive first and plot her revenge later.

By the time his tall intimidating frame walked back into the room, she already had her answer. He scared her senseless, he had a very powerful aura she had never felt before. His eyes sparkled with mischief, he could seduce anyone without even trying. His deep voice was like brown rich honey and warm milk. He looked like a representation of a Greek god from mount Olympus. His clothes latched unto his sexy muscles and broad shoulders. His amber eyes were staring deep into her soul. He was one fine ass man. Ariel swallowed hard, he was insanely hot, she was losing her mind. Her cheeks flushed, they were bright red. What was this man doing to her?

“I accept your offer.” But on the condition you won't touch me.” She replied proudly, trying to gather what was left of her dignity. She had just agreed to marry a man she had never met. Hands in both pockets of his black pants, Axel slowly walked up to where she was sitting on the bed. “Why are you coming close, go back.” Ariel asked in fear, slowly shifting back on the bed, she was panicking. But he won't budge. Afraid, she launched a pillow in his direction, but it missed.

He was already close. He grabbed her throat violently and slammed her on the duvet. He leaned against her body and whispered in her ear. “I hate your kind, you're nothing but a measly human. Don't feel so special. If you're going to be my wife, I also have my rule. “Never come 10 feet close to me, or your head will roll.”

He let go of her and stood straight. Ariel's breath hitched, she was panting hard. She was terrified.

“If you ever think of running away from me, I'll tear down the earth to find you.” Ariel confirmed her hunch was right, the man standing before her was no ordinary man, she was too stunned to speak.

“Happy married life to both of us Ariel, welcome to hell.” He smirked.

Rain was sobbing behind the counter when Ariel barged in like she was running from a wild beast. “Where is he?.” She asked the distraught aunty Rain, fearing the worst had happened. “I can't find him, he is missing.” Rain cried in response, blowing her nose with a towel. “When did this happen?.”“This afternoon.""He went out to play with the other kids but he never came back. I'm panicking, what if something bad happens to him? He's just a baby.” She sobbed. Ariel's heart sank to her stomach. She desperately hoped he was still alive. This was all her fault, that psychopath had probably gotten his claws on Khan. Desperate, she ran out the door in search of Axel, he could not have gone far, he was still around, and he could help. She wondered why he had not saved Khan, it was piece of cake for him. But if Khan dies, it'd be too late. Nothing could bring him back. Ariel had a hunch the serial killer had kidnapped Khan. But Axel was the only one who'd know what

Ariel was walking out of the cozy cafe with her iced cappuccino, when an expensive Ford mustang screeched to a halt in front of her. Startled, she stopped and fixed her gaze on its doors in confusion to see who’d emerge from it. A polite gentleman dressed in a black smartly tailored suit steps down and opens the back door. “Miss, sir Jaques wants to see you, he asked me to pick you up.” He beckons on her to get in.“I'm busy.” She lied.“That's fine, he expects you to decline. But I'll lose my job if you don't come.” Ariel was stunned, was he seriously trying to blackmail her?“I need your help, miss, my boss means every word.” Ariel was silent. Whatever approach he applied was working. A part of her wished to meet Jaques. The mysterious young man that had piqued her curiosity in the board room.“Please.” The man pleaded desperately, hoping she'd comply.Ariel looked at her hoodie and jeans, she was underdressed. “I need to get changed.” “That has already been taken car

Bianca moved through the stench in the dark alley with her left hand placed over her nose. The old man's base smelt like death, she could hardly bear the stench. He was propped up against the wall when she saw him. He shoved a smoke against his lips and flicked the lighter on. He swipes a glance at her, and walks towards an abandoned container in the alley, scratching his festering wound as he walks. Unlike the foggy darkness outside, the interior was bright. But Lucius kept some places dark. There were different murder weapons on the table, knives, axes and an empty gun. Lucius had emptied the bullets, the gun was not an active participant in his job, shooting someone would draw attention. Bianca looked at him sternly. “What do you want?.” “I don't like when you look at me like that.” “Like what?.”“With disgust.” He puffed a gust of smoke and cocked the empty gun. “Because I am disgusted.”“You never look at your mother like that.” “She's nothing like you.” Sh

Ariel stepped back as he walked towards her. He hands her a file when he got to where she stood. “You can't tell him your name is Ariel. You were the last person to see his father alive, everyone is looking for you.” He informed the puzzled Ariel. She quickly tore the file open and glanced through the birth certificate belonging to the twenty three years old girl called Celine Bryce. “Who is she?.” “She died today, she has been bedridden all her life. Her father disappeared when she was a baby. She was raised by her aging mom. That's all you need to know about her.” “Is this even legal?.” She asked in despair. Axel glanced at his Patek Philipe grandmaster chime watch. “You have twenty minutes.” He reminded the absent minded Ariel. Realizing herself, she shoved the file in her bag and bolted out the door. Kyle was waiting patiently in the lounge when Ariel walked in. He waved to spare her the trouble of looking for him. Ariel began to regret the plain white silk blou

Ariel woke up worried. She had two problems on her mind. The disturbing news Rain had shared, and the fact she no longer had a job. “I'm cooked.” She sighed and threw herself back on her bed. She was still deep in thought when it dawned on her she had not called Jaques. She was unsure about the whereabouts of his business card. She had been so mad at Axel that she may have likely lost it. Brushing off negative thoughts, she reached for her purse and searched. She was right, it was gone! She sighed in disappointment and was about to toss it aside when she saw a familiar business card. She had gotten it from the man at the club, the late Blue Rail 's CEO's son. She looked at the numbers on the card, this could probably be the answer to her plight. She quickly reached for her cellphone and thumbed the digits. Ariel watched it ring, she was a ball of nerves. Shortly after, she could hear a curt male voice from the other end. “Hello?.” Kyle answered the phone curiously. The sound o

Ariel and Axel walked out of the board room quietly. The silent click of her heels against the tiled floor was the only sound that could be heard in the empty hallway.‘Maybe I should call.’ Ariel thought to herself as she stared at the intricately designed business card in amusement."You're going to call? Axel asked her. She was startled. How did he know what she was thinking about?“I read minds as well.” He said, sparing her the trouble. "It's not like that.” She replied quickly. “Why're you trying to explain, I don't care. You can die if you want.” Her heart welled with anger, it dawned on her. Why was she explaining? She had saved up all she wanted, she just needed extra cash to give Khan's aunt to sustain themselves after the surgery, and she could figure something out, she had no need to put up with him anymore.“I quit!!.” She announced angrily. He paused on his stride, but he didn't turn back. Axel could tell she was clearly pissed, and it made hi
