CHAPTER EIGHT

" What the f**k are you doing Arya?" Asira asked.

" I want to know if he would accept me even though he thought I was weak. I know that I have a wolf but I still haven't turned yet so I could pass as wolf-less.

He just stood there staring at me since I finished speaking not moving an inch. I should have known he's going to reject me; well... I'm prepared for it. What is taking him long though, and his eyes keep shifting and changing colour. I can hear his and wolf thoughts but I don't want to...

" Sorry, he begin. I was trying to control my wolf. He wanted to murder your pack for the way they have treated you. I don't care that you don't have a wolf but we have to tearing you though. Being queen Luna means you'll have to be extra careful with threats." I just don't understand something, how do you recognize me as your mate if you don't have a wolf? Kaid asked.

I looked at him surprised. " Doesn't he care that I'm not what he thought I was?"

" I told you," Asira said smugly.

So...I know you told me , but I just wanted to be sure. I replied.

" I don't know, I just do. It's the same with my first mate , I told him. He emitted the most dangerous and powerful growl I have ever heard.

" How are you going to tell him you have a wolf now, and why did you mention Kory's name. Asira scolded me.

"Oops .... sorry, I'll tell him about us when we turn and I didn't know Kory's name was going to piss him off. I defended myself.

She huffed and retreated to the back of my mind. I knew she was right. Kaid is the king , so his instincts are extremely powerful. I just had to poke the bear.

I knew his next question was going to be who my ex-mate was when Kory entered disrupting our conversation.

" Your majesty, sorry to interrupt you but Elder Messiah is here looking for you, what should I tell him, he stated his head slightly bowed.

Why is an Elder here all of a sudden? I thought.

The elders are the oldest wolves amongst us. They are supposed to be the wisest and even the strongest. Seven of them confirm the council, alongside with the king and they form and guide our laws. Only kaid is stronger than an Elder. They hardly come to our pack as we are not one of the strongest.

" I'm coming out now." He looked at me and said nothing. I knew he had to go. If Elder came all the way here then it means there's something important he had to discuss with him. He left the office and closed the door.

" You made him mad. What did you expect?" Asira taunted. Before I could continue speaking with her Kory stormed into my father's office . He looked furious, as soon as he closed the door he approached me with an incredible speed and shoved me hard against the wall, choking me.

" What did you say to him Arya?" He asked then adds; He's face was red, I could see his furious. The veins in his forehead popped and his eyes constantly changed color. " Answer me"! He yelled at me. But I couldn't; I literally couldn't. He wasn't letting air pass through. I started seeing black dot in the air and I knew this was probably my end.

Alpha kaid pov

I was sitting at the infirmary waiting for my mate to wake up. The previous incident still fresh in my memory.

As I was speaking with Elder Messiah I had an eerie feeling. My wolf was restless meaning there's something wrong with Arya. I didn't want to be rude to the elder; he told me some important issues that had happened but I wanted to get back to my mate and see what was wrong. The elder seemed to notice my discomfort and anxiousness, so we decided to postpone the meeting even though we didn't finish our conversation.

I was about reaching the office when christabel suddenly appeared before me. Any time I see her it always makes my skin crawl. She doesn't give me a good feeling, in fact she always puts me and my wolf on the edge. She looks nothing like my mate even though they were said to be sisters. She started talking about the reason why I should stay for the banquet they had prepared; her main argument being that the people here have missed their king and they would like to have little chat with me.

I had tried being nice initially, but I was getting exasperated by her bullsh*t talk when I felt a sting at my neck . I knew it came from Arya, she was hurt. so I did the only one thing I could. I left christabel at her spot and went straight towards the office.

As soon as I entered the office, I had to control myself from not killing Alpha Kory.

He had Arya by the neck and was pressing her against the wall. I saw f***king red, how dare him mistreat her like that. Even though they don't know she's my mate, that doesn't give them the right to mistreat a pack member like that.

The growl I emitted with the combination of my aura was so strong that it made Kory fall to his knees. That made him loose his grip on Arya and she started falling. I moved as fast as I could to avoid her hitting the ground. And then..I asked where the pack doctor was.

And here I am next to my mate waiting for her to wake up, I calmed myself not to go into the house and kill Kory.

I wondered what she meant when she told me she didn't have a wolf.bi didn't tell her at that moment because I didn't want to stress her off more Could feel her wolf inside her. Maybe she's dormant but we can find a way to wake her up only if Arya wants it though.

I won't force her to wake her wolf if she doesn't want to . I couldn't care less if she doesn't have a wolf,

. Wouldn't have mattered if she was human, she's still my mate and I would do everything in my power to protect her.

As I was thinking about how to approach the issue with her, I felt Arya stirring in her sleep I approached her to calm her with the mate bond when she snapped her eyes open and I could see the terror in them. She was looking around the room to see where she was. Her eyes continued roaming the surrounding until it landed on me. And she closed them again, it seems she was having an inner conversation and I didn't want to interrupt. If she hadn't told me about not having a wolf I would have thought that she was talking to her.

As I admired her beauty, a sudden knock interrupted us. I could hear how Arya heartbeat started to increase. I could tell who the person behind the door was; I had keener senses that most wolves, so I knew it was Alpha Kory; the last person I want to see right now.

I controlled my breath and heart beat so as to not alert Arya and let her continue with her inner turmoil. I wanted to discuss something with her, but it'll have to wait until she's ready. I walked to the door and opened it before he could knock again. I would ask him to leave and if he disagreed I would force him. Nothing could disturb Arya until she's healed.
