LOGINFreya's p.o.v
Today will be my last day at Madame Selene's manor as her maid or slave. I am now been handed over to the Alpha king. According to her, I am his mate and he will be solely responsible for my well- being henceforth. If Madame Selene can trust him enough to give me to him, I believe I can trust him too, even though I have never met him or know what he looks like. I will soon be transported to the court where the mating ceremony would be happening. I looked at myself once more in the mirror in my room as Evelyn and Elina as well as my other human mates in the manor came to bid their final good bye. My mind drifted back to my experience at the wild the other time as I gaze upon the satchel hanging down in my room—the strangeness and everything that revolved around that moment. I couldn't bring myself to tell anyone about it because I don't want Madame Selene feeling so sad and guilty. Thankfully, no one was home when I arrived and the other maids were busy with their chores. Thus, the opportunity for me to change my torn clothes. "I'll miss you so much, Freya," Elina sobbed as she kissed me by the cheek, and giving me one final hug. "I'll miss you too, Elina," I said, my eyes darting around to others whose eyes are now soaked with goodbye tears. "All of you." ~~ The sun sets and the moment finally arrived. I was carted away from the manor and after a while, I arrived at a court. Selene came to receive me as the cart stopped and I emerged. It felt like time stood still as we walked into the inner part of the court. The isle we were walking on seems to divide the room into two parts and the seats placement tend to loom beside us. There were many lycans present —plenty of them. Majority of them were elderly. But then, my gaze shifted from their roaming eyes and murmuring mouths to the shiny thrones gleaming bright ahead of me. I swallowed hard as we approach the thrones and as we got closer, my eyes caught the attention of a tall, strong, yet young looking man. He should be in his early twenties at least. He was standing beside one of the thrones. His eyes were blue—icy blue and so hypnotizing that they had me blinking subconsciously. His hair was jet black and his jawline, a perfect chisel shape. Perhaps, he is the Alpha king? I mean, he is obviously the only one standing beside the throne. A strange coldness I had experienced the other time recurred as I got nearer and nearer to him on the throne. Perhaps, it's because I was somewhat nervous. I got an up close view of him at the throne and God, never have I ever thought of meeting or seeing a Greek god while alive. Selene bowed slightly at the Alpha King before leaving the throne. His gaze fell on me and I knew I just couldn't hold or maintain such eye contact. I looked at him again to find him smiling while stretching his arms at me. My brow arched in embarrassment. His hands felt so hot in my hands and I quickly withdraw due to reflex. "Are you OK, Freya?" he asked with true concern on his face as my eyes opened wide in shock. "I'm fine. It's nothing," I replied as my eyes met with Madame Selene who seem perplexed from afar in the crowd. "Nevermind." He reached for my hand again and this time, it felt hotter but the short distance to the throne made be hold it in. I nearly cried after we settled on the throne. An elderly lycan came down to the centre of the inner court and then he began to speak. "My fellow Lycans from every corner of Luparia. This is the moment we all have been waiting for, the reason why we all are gathered here tonight. Our dear Alpha King Lucien has been truly favoured my the moon goddess and tonight, the mating bond will be initiated." My throat kept bobbing as I feel Lucien's eyes steal quick glances at me and I began to sweat under my gown. "Dear Freya," he shouted my name. "Do you accept Lucien, the Alpha King of Luparia and leader of the Shadow pack as your mate and protector?" Unsure of what to do, my eyes met with Lucien's and I could tell those eyes hold a lot even though his smile proved otherwise. And that smile is just so captivating. "Am I to say anything else aside yes?" I gathered the courage to ask him. He grinned. "Actually, you may reject it by simply saying a no too." I looked away and face the crowd seated in the court room. "Yes, I do." My eyes scanned for Madame Selene and I could see her smile at me. She seemed really pleased and that is all that matters to me. "Dear, Alpha Lucien. Do you accept Freya as your mate and to be her protector at all time, come what may?" A curl formed on Lucien's lips and he nodded. "Yes, I do." The full moon shone from outside the court through the large windows in the room and I felt a strange wind blow towards me, it was cold— extremely cold that I began to shiver slightly. Lucien noticed and he touched me, "It's the mating bond. Just...stay still." His touch warmed out the cold , but as soon as my body temperature turned normal again, it start to feel a bit off and I felt the hotness building up again from his prolonged touch and I just couldn't understand why my body was responding that way to his touch. I slowly drifted my hand away. "Freya, are you OK?" "Ye...Yes," I stammered, sliding my hair behind my ear. "Uhm... will that be all?" "That's was basically the first step..." Lucien tried to explain, but a masculine voice cut him off. "How could you even think of going ahead with the ceremony without me—the future King?"Freya's p.o.vIt seemed like a kind of gathering was going on with everyone chanting and slurring out curse words, their hand in the air and in protest. I trudged through the gargantuan crowd in the market square to the very free center. And there, I saw him. Lucien. But he wasn't alone.HIs eyes were fixed intently on a figure tied to a pole with a pyre under. The clear clench of his jaw was sufficient enough to understand the turmoil residing in his heart."You broke your promise," Lucien said as though he could feel my presence even without looking my way. At first, I was confused but as I tried to speak, Cassius interrupted me from nowhere."I'm so sorry, brother. But she wouldn't let us not. We had no choice," he retorted with utmost respect.Lucien's gaze softened the moment his eyes met mine and the sinister laughter from the figure tied to the pole filled the atmosphere."Oh, so you consider him your brother now, Cassius," she mocked, "pathetic hypocrites. You and your finishe
Freya's p.o.vI stormed into Alpha Reid's throne room with Amarantha, Ryka and Akira running behind me, hoping to stop me. Alpha Reid and Cassius seem to be in the middle of a conversation as I barged in but the moment they set eyes on me, they halted without hesitation. And I could see it in their eyes, the whatever secret they all seem to be holding back about Lucien because neither Lucien nor Kael seem to be around."Your honor—," Alpha Reid tried to be cordial as though all is well, but the awkward smile on his face was such a terrible enemy."Where is he?" I felt my anxiety taking over again. "Your honor," Cassius chimed in, "Lucien is fine. It's not as you think —""He didn't go to Shadow pack without me, did he?" I glowered at them all, cutting him off curtly. The betrayal on their faces and silence was all I needed to take that one ride down to Shadow pack."We couldn't afford to endanger the future heir, your honor," Akira finally revealed. "Alpha Lucien wouldn't let no one
Freya's p.o.v"I have seen it too, your honor," said Akira, "the dark days of Luparia. The day Zephyrine rules."Akira's revelation only had me swallowing, wondering and hoping that what she had indeed said about my dream was true. She had made me realize that my dreams about Lucien being killed by Zephyrine and her controlling the storm could have different interpretations. In Luparia, dreams may have different meanings and may not even be as they are shown or even remain as mere dreams with absolutely no meaning. Just like I had thought Lucien would hate me if he found out about my true identity. The atmosphere in the chamber room shifted, the warmth of the sun's rays unable to pierce the icy dread that gripped my heart. A chill ran down my spine as the words echoed in my mind, refusing to be silenced: Lucien's death. The connection was undeniable, a thread of foreboding that seemed to tighten around my chest, making it hard to breathe .My mind was a whirlwind of questions, each o
Zephyrine's p.o.vBleurgh!I retched into the bowl in my hand, the blood smeared on my hand like a crimson glove.Damn it! That bitch Luna. How the hell did this even happen? I could I have possibly have come in contact with her tears insomuch I let it flow through my veins.Ever since that night I had taken the mead from Lucien's goblet that night, I had been nothing but more of a mere lycan and less of a great witch that I was. And I know was all because of her.Freya! Her tears is not only Lucien's strength and weakness but also my weakness as well. Lucien has been gone for weeks without trace and so is Kael. I still can't seem to wrap my head around the fact that this could have been planned out and neither a coincidence. But by whom?Kael didn't sell me out, did he?I mean...he had come back the night before Lucien went missing and had also disappeared alongside him the morning after without any trace. Not them. Not Freya.Lucien didn't get cured did he?Hopefully, that bitch is
Lucien's p.o.vI should have listened to my wolf.Anger, rage, madness and every other negative emotions converged into a raging sanctuary inside of me.I had thought my wolf was losing it when he swore to abandon me following Ravenna's presence. Axel had felt it too. The strangeness. He felt so uncomfortable with her around but I guess my thirst for an heir blinded me insomuch I couldn't care less if I was wolf less. But then, one morning. That morning, I felt the difference. The truth.I had been jinxed! I had been enchanted by that wretched witch whose abode shall be ruined by my hands. Neither purgatory or Gehenna would be able to receive her.Freya.She had tried to warn me. To make me see. But I had hurt her instead. I had killed her Aunt in the most cruelest way unimaginable. I had hurt her whilst she was with my child. Our child. And for that, I Lucien Salvatore will never forgive myself. If Ravenna thinks she's one hella of a witch sent by the curse, then I'd make sure to he
Kael's p.o.v Freya laid still on the bed, the breathing movement of her chest the only evident sign she was still alive. Lucien continued with whimpering, holding her hand as he sobbed. "Freya, my forever. Please, open your eyes. Please, tell me that you forgive me," he cried as his lips trembled effortlessly, his tears dripping over her on the bed. "I never meant any of that...Just please, come back to me," his hand cradled her belly gently. "Come back to us." Both mates were a pitiful sight to see and the more Lucien spoke, the more his tears fell. I have never seen the Alpha King be so broken my whole life. For the first time after Freya's state, she was able to make the slightest movement, a twitching hand movement. Lucien's excitement piqued. "Freya. Freya," his tone was of a squealing child as Freya's eyes fluttered open. Akira, my mother and I inched closer to them by the bed. "Lu—Lucien?" that was the first word she muttered. Despite the ugliness he had made her
