Liora couldn’t stop shaking.

The ride home in Dax’s car was silent.

Rain blurred the windows.

She stared at her hands—the engagement ring catching the streetlights like it was mocking her.

Kael was alive.

All this time.

Three years of guilt eating her alive.

Three years of forcing herself to move on.

And he was alive.

---

Dax pulled into their apartment garage.

Turned off the engine.

Didn’t move.

“You okay?” he asked softly.

She couldn’t look at him.

“No.”

---

He sighed.

“Vortigern said he’s dangerous now. Changed.”

“Don’t let him get in your head, Liora.”

“He came back swinging. Hurting people.”

“I know,” she whispered.

But she didn’t.

---

That night, she lay in bed beside Dax, eyes wide open.

He fell asleep fast, arm draped over her waist—

safe.

steady.

But her mind was back in that cold room.

Kael’s silver eyes—harder than before, but still the same ones that once looked at her like she was everything.

The chains burning his skin.

The way he said:

“You let them throw me off a cliff.”

She pressed a hand to her mouth to stop the sob.

---

Memories flooded in.

Two months before the fall.

Middle of the night.

His apartment.

She woke to his hands sliding under her nightshirt.

“Couldn’t sleep,” he whispered.

“Need you.”

She rolled toward him, smiling in the dark.

“Take me then.”

---

After, he held her tight.

“I’d burn the world for you,” he murmured.

She believed him.

---

Back in the present, tears soaked her pillow.

She slipped out of bed carefully.

Dax didn’t stir.

---

In the living room, she sat on the couch, hugging her knees.

The ring felt heavy.

Wrong.

She loved Dax.

He was good.

Kind.

He healed her when she was broken.

But Kael—

Kael was her storm.

---

The next morning, Dax left early.

Liora called in sick.

She couldn’t sit still.

By noon, she was driving.

Rain started again—light this time.

She told herself she just needed to see the warehouse.

But deep down, she knew where she was going.

---

The Crimson Shadows’ compound loomed on the edge of the city—

cold concrete, guarded, unforgiving.

She parked a block away.

Heart pounding.

A guard recognized her.

Let her in without questions.

Being Dax’s fiancée had perks.

---

Inside, the halls smelled like metal and smoke.

She found the lower level.

The room where they kept Kael.

Two guards stood outside.

“Vortigern said no visitors.”

“I’m not a visitor,” she said steadily.

“I’m family soon.”

“Five minutes.”

They exchanged looks.

Shrugged.

The door unlocked.

---

Kael sat in the same chair.

Chains tighter now.

Fresh burns on his arms.

Head bowed.

He looked up.

“Liora…”

---

The guards closed the door behind her.

She stayed ten feet away.

“I had to see you again.”

---

His voice was rough.

“Come to say goodbye before the wedding?”

She flinched.

“No. I… I don’t know why I’m here.”

He laughed quietly.

“Sure you do.”

---

Silence stretched.

She stepped closer.

Close enough to see the new scars.

The strength in him.

The cold that hadn’t been there before.

“You hate me,” she whispered.

“Yes,” he said.

Then softer—

“And no.”

---

Her chest hurt.

“I never told you everything. About why I worked for them.”

He watched.

Silent.

---

“My little brother,” she said, voice breaking.

“He got sick. Rare blood condition.”

“Only black-market magic could help.”

“Vortigern paid for it.”

“And I owed him favors.”

---

Kael’s jaw tightened.

“I tried to keep you away,” she said quickly.

“When I found out about the warehouse, I begged him to stop.”

“He laughed.”

“Said it was perfect timing.”

---

Tears fell freely now.

“I didn’t know he’d kill you.”

“I thought he’d scare you. Make you leave.”

---

Kael closed his eyes.

“You should have told me.”

“I was scared,” she said.

“Of losing you.”

“Of them hurting my brother.”

---

He opened his eyes again.

Silver.

Stormy.

“And now?”

---

She looked at the ring.

Then at him.

“I don’t know.”

---

She stepped closer.

Reached out.

Her fingers brushed his chained hand.

Electricity ripped through them both.

Kael sucked in a breath.

“Don’t,” he warned.

“Don’t touch me unless you mean it.”

She didn’t pull away.

“I never stopped loving you,” she whispered.

“I buried it.”

“But seeing you again…”

---

Footsteps.

She yanked her hand back.

The door opened.

Dax stood there.

“Time’s up.”

His eyes moved from Kael to her.

“Let’s go.”

---

She hesitated.

Dax softened.

“Please, babe.”

---

She looked at Kael one last time.

He didn’t beg.

Didn’t speak.

Just watched her.

Those broken silver eyes.

---

She turned and walked out.

The door closed.

---

As they passed the guards, Liora slipped something small into one hand—

a copied key.

She didn’t look back.

---

That night, deep in the compound, chains rattled.

Kael tested the lock.

Click.

Liora’s gift.

---

He slipped into the shadows.

Free.

But one thought stopped him cold.

She helped him escape.

After everything.

Did that mean she was choosing him?

Or setting him up?

---

Because if Vortigern found out—

Liora would pay the price.

And with the wedding days away

and revenge burning hotter than ever—

Kael wasn’t sure he could save her in time.

Shadowhaven City never truly slept. Street lights glowed soft yellow all night long, rain made the roads shine, and every dark alley held its own secrets. Beneath the busy streets, old families with special powers fought quiet battles—some could turn into wolves, some could do magic, and some ran dangerous gangs that controlled the night. Kael Vaelor was only ten years old when his whole life fell apart. It was a stormy night. Thunder boomed and rain hammered the windows of the big family house on the hill. His dad, Thorne Vaelor, was the leader of the Silverfang clan. They were wolf shifters with silver eyes and strength that made people respect and fear them. But that night, fear came knocking. Kael was supposed to be asleep, but he crept to the top of the stairs to listen. His mom, Elara, was talking worriedly with his dad in the large living room below. “They wouldn’t dare attack us here,” his dad said, his voice deep and sure. “Not in our own home.” His mom sounded scared.

  • The last silver fang's Revenge    Chapter 4: The Man in the Mountains

Three years had passed since the night Kael fell.Deep in the frozen mountains, far from Shadowhaven City, snow fell soft and silent around a small wooden cabin. No roads led here. No one came unless they were meant to.Inside, fire crackled in the stone hearth. A man sat on the floor, shirtless, sweat pouring down his back even in the cold. His body was covered in scars—old ones from that warehouse fight, new ones from endless training. Muscles hard as steel. Silver eyes sharp and cold.Kael drove his fists into a heavy log over and over, knuckles bleeding, breath steady. Pain was nothing now. Pain was his teacher.Across the room, an old man watched. Master Ronan. White hair, face like carved stone, eyes that saw everything. He had found Kael half-dead on the riverbank three years ago—body broken, barely breathing, washed miles downstream.Ronan had dragged him out of the water, carried him through the storm, and brought him here. For weeks, Kael hovered between life and death, burn
