I looked at Mercy with confusion as she stared into space with a thoughtful look.
“I am not sure, but I think it was because of your energy caging the demon. When the demon was pulled into the Gate, the binding was also pulled in. I think the Gate recognised the energy as a part of you and tried to pull you in too,” she said.
Her words made sense, but it was painting the Gate as a sentient being. I shuddered as I remembered the Gate getting closed. Now that I think of it, it sounded pissed off when it couldn’t get me…
“It was my fault! While doing summoning and banishments, we have to draw a circle of salt to keep the evil inside it. I didn’t put up a ward or the salt circle because your cage was so powerful and I was confident that the demon couldn’t escape from it.
