“I heard you asked for me, sir,” I chirped the moment I walked into the office, plastering an award-winning smile on my face.

“I thought you wouldn’t come, Aria,” he said, a smirk resting comfortably on his lips as he stood up from behind his desk and walked toward me.

“Why would I ignore the call of a superior, sir?” I breathed calmly.

If this was the game he wanted to play, then who was I not to play along, uhn?

“Drop the bullshit, Aria,” he said after bursting into laughter, and a frown spread across my face. What exactly was amusing about all this?

“I have no idea what you mean, sir,” I pressed forward.

“This wasn’t the tone you used with me earlier,” he said, stepping even closer. “What? Are you scared now that you know who I am? That’ll be disappointing, don’t you think?”

I finally let out a sigh, my hands flying to my waist.

“What exactly do you want, Conan?” I asked, my frown now obvious.

His smile grew. “That’s more like it,” he whispered as he finally closed the distance between us. “It’s nice hearing you use my name, though,” he added.

I took a step back. “Why was I called?”

The games were starting to tire me out. Was I getting fired or what? Like, wrap it upppp.

“I have an offer for you,” he started, closing the distance yet again. This time, his hands flew to my waist and held me firm.

I tried to squirm out of his grip, but he didn’t budge. Eventually, I just stood there, waiting for him to spell out whatever nonsense he had in mind.

I exhaled, forcing my eyes to meet his.

“What offer?” I asked.

His eyes sparkled.

“You seem like the kind of girl I’d like in my bed, Aria. At first glance, you look like someone who listens well.”

I almost burst out laughing. He couldn’t be serious.

“So how about you let me have you, and I make your work life a lot simpler?” he finished.

This time, the laugh slipped out.

So he was serious.

Where did he think we were—high school?

“And what exactly can you do for me?” I said, trying to indulge him, but even my fake amusement was failing me.

“I can give you everything and more,” he whispered, his breath hot against my neck. I felt his hand move from my waist downward, and just as I was about to swat it off—

The sound of the phone ringing filled the room.

My eyes darted to the phone on his desk. “You should get that, sir,” I said, finally managing to push him away.

He shot me a look but moved to grab the phone. The moment he saw the caller ID, his eyes widened and his hands flew to straighten his clothes like a man caught doing something he shouldn’t.

“You need to get out of here. Now!” he yelled.

My eyes widened as he pushed me toward the door with one hand while lifting the phone to his ear with the other.

What now??

It wasn’t like I wanted to be here in the first place. There was no need to chase me out like some cheating mistress.

Rich people were different, alright.

I walked out of the office without sparing him another glance. I was almost at the end of the corridor when a man passed by me—and one glance at him made me stop in my tracks.

My head instinctively turned as I stared at his back like it was some piece of art.

His perfume lingered in the air, rich and clean, and I took another quiet whiff as I watched him step into Conan’s office. If I thought Conan’s suit was custom made, then this man’s was on another level entirely. I barely caught a look at his face, yet I could tell he was handsome.

Who was this stranger?

Was he the reason Conan shoved me out like contraband?

And why did his scent feel so familiar? Something I knew by heart but couldn’t place.

By the time I made it back to my seat, my knees were weak. My thoughts lingered on that one man. Why the hell didn’t I look at his face properly? I had one job, ONE—and I still somehow fumbled it.

Way to go, Aria.

I spent the next few hours trying to place where that scent could be from. Even while working, the feeling wouldn’t leave me. Thoughts of Conan no longer bothered me; this new stranger seemed far more interesting.

Was he a new manager Conan brought in? A business partner? A consultant?

Many questions filled my mind as I walked over to the marketing department to drop the last file for the day.

I was about to turn the corner when that suit caught my eyes again. This time, I froze immediately, waiting for him to reach me.

Miracles don’t happen twice.

There was no way I was missing his face again.

In no time, he was in front of me—and God, how wrong I was.

He wasn’t just handsome; he was breathtaking. How could a man look this good while being this masculine? His jawline alone deserved its own highlight reel. Maybe I really was staring, because his deep voice pulled me out of my trance.

“You’re the girl from Conan’s office, aren’t you?” he said, his voice rich and smooth.

I couldn’t even come up with a response.

“So he already has hoes around him on the first day,” he added casually.

My brain finally rebooted at the word hoe.

“I’m not a hoe,” I called out, my voice coming out lower than intended.

His gaze swept over me, slow and assessing. For some reason, I felt the need to adjust myself under the weight of that dark stare.

“Cover up properly before you argue about that,” he fired back, nodding at my half-buttoned shirt.

A frown crossed his face as he watchedme and i swore i heard him mutter the word cute before he walked past me without another word.

My hands immediately flew to my shirt, gripping the fabric tightly as I tried to process what just happened.

Who was this man, and why did his gaze affect me like that?

One thing was certain though;

Now he was far more interesting than whatever Conan had to say, especially if i heard right.

  • The mafia boss is the man of my dreams    Chapter 154: EPILOGUE

Angelo’s POV Three months had passed since the last attack on Knight's businesses, meaning we had enjoyed three solid months of nothing but absolute peace and the usual routine checks for all our other allies. After the whole bloody fiasco with Conan, our partners seemed to have become a lot more compliant and significantly less likely to act out. I guess Knight joining hands with those ruthless black-market dealers showed the them exactly to what terrifying lengths he would go to fish out a single enemy. That display alone was more than enough to add a new layer to his already fearful reputation. Too bad the monstrous man the entire city feared was currently busy living up his domestic love life with Aria like there was no tomorrow. The two of them hadn’t changed one single bit; Aria was still delightfully snarky and unyielding, and of course, Knight willingly gave in to her every single whim. Such a fierce mafia boss he is, alright. It took close to a month of relentless arguing

I was pinned flush against the wall, the side of my cheek pressed cold against the glass window while Knight towered heavily behind me. His large hand was firm on my exposed hip, while his mouth buried into the side of my neck, sucking on the sensitive skin like there was no tomorrow. My lips parted as i breathlessly whispered to him. With the blinding heat of the room and the intensity of the position, I would have thought this was just another one of my dreams—if my eyes weren't wide open, staring out at the blurred city lights.Turns out Knight meant every single word when he promised to recreate my dreams. The literal second the medical bandage came off his shoulder, he had stripped me entirely naked and pinned me straight to this window frame."I don't have a balcony like the one in your dreams, love, and it would take time to build it, so this will just have to work," he whispered darkly against my ear, his breath a hot contrast to the glass as his free hand slowly roamed the cu

Angelo’s POVA situation like this was not one I ever expected myself to be in, given the fact that I had always fallen for people I knew were undeniably interested in men, too. This was the first time I was entirely responsible for making someone else question their sexuality, and honestly, it wasn’t the best feeling out there. But I couldn't help it. I couldn't stop myself from falling for him, even if I knew he might end up feeling absolutely nothing for me in return. Those two kisses we shared were more than I could have asked for, anyway. It had been two long days since that second kiss—since he told me to my face that it didn't make him feel a single thing—and I hadn't seen him once since then. It was funny, really, considering we were both staying in this mansion together. Aria had prompted me to go up and talk to him multiple times, but I refused every single time. I had promised to stay away if he didn't feel anything for me, and that was exactly what I was doing: honoring my

Knight’s POV"Do you think they’ll be able to sort things out anytime soon?" I asked softly, my fingers mindfully playing with Aria’s hair."Angelo told me that Jean claimed he felt absolutely nothing for him, even after what he would call a pretty great kiss," I added, thinking back to the brief conversation I was able to have with him before he walked off to go clear his head."Can you keep a secret, chairman of Edge Group?" Aria called out suddenly, shifting out of my embrace."What kind of secret are we talking about, love?" I asked, meeting her gaze. "Is this about the entire situation?" I pressed further, and she nodded in confirmation. "Okay. If that’s what it’s about, then I can definitely keep a secret. It’s not even my place to say anything, anyway."Her grin widened at my response."Okay. So..." she began, sitting up straight against the headboard. "Jean lied about not feeling anything," she breathed with a small chuckle. "He seems to be catching a bit of feelings, but he’s

  • The mafia boss is the man of my dreams    Chapter 150

I had been sitting here on the mattress beside Jean for close to ten minutes now without either of us uttering a single word. One would think that after his explosive initial outburst when I first got here, he would be totally talking my ears off, but no. He chose now of all times to practice absolute silence.I gave him one more look before letting out a small sigh. "Do you want me to leave and come back when you’ve gathered everything you want to say?" I asked softly. He immediately shook his head. "Just... just give me a moment, Aria. I’m trying to think of how best to say all this without sounding completely embarrassed," he muttered with a heavy sigh of his own."I have seen you in way more embarrassing situations, Jean," I breathed with a small laugh, nudging him. "Kissing a man again cannot be that embarrassing to mention now, can it?" I asked, raising my brows."Kissing him again isn’t even the major issue, Aria," he breathed, finally turning to face me. "The real issue is...

  • The mafia boss is the man of my dreams    Chapter 149

I went after my sister the exact moment Angelo went after Jean. Knight squeezed my hands gently, his dark eyes soft with unspoken reassurance before he let me go. I was completely certain I would need every single bit of that reassurance, especially going by all the heavy shit Jean had spewed before walking off. I knew this confrontation would happen sooner or later, but frankly, it was my fault it was happening on these terms, and this soon, so i had to find a way to salvage the situation.I couldn’t even pick a side if I wanted to, because both of them were entirely right from their own perspectives. Jean had done everything he possibly could to prove himself to her, fulfilling his due diligence in every way—a fact I could gladly testify to. On the other hand, my sister was right for wanting to protect her own feelings, even if it came at the expense of Jean’s. She was self-absorbed, but I could never blame her for choosing herself first, even if the way she went about it was entire
