LOGINFour years ago, Jessie Monroe made the biggest mistake of her life— she fell into the arms of a stranger who felt like danger and desire wrapped into one. One night. One choice. One secret she never planned to reveal. Now she’s a hardworking single mother trying to rebuild her life… until she walks into Diaz Enterprises looking for a job and comes face-to-face with the man she never thought she’d see again. Dominic Diaz. Billionaire. Cold. Magnetic. Unforgettable. The moment his storm-gray eyes land on her, he freezes. He remembers her the girl he spent one wild night with… the girl he left sleeping in his hotel bed before dawn… the girl whose body and lips have haunted him for four long years. Jessie panics. She can’t let him get close. Not when she has a four-year-old son with his eyes… his smile… his DNA. Dominic wants answers. Jess wants distance. But fate wants chaos. Because Dominic Diaz is not a man who lets go and Jessie Monroe is running out of places to hide.

Tomorrow, I turn eighteen, and I've made a promise to myself the moment I do, I'm leaving this godforsaken town. I'm heading to another city, somewhere far away from here, where life feels like it has more to offer. I live in a small town outside of Illinois with my mom, Elaine, and my little brother, Jason. He's eight years old. Our dad passed away when Jason was just three, killed in a car accident. Ever since then, it’s just been the three of us. But Dad? We don’t talk about him. It’s a forbidden topic. Mom refuses to bring it up I guess it’s too painful for her. Instead, she buries herself in work, pulling endless shifts as an ER nurse. That means she’s never home. Most of my time is spent babysitting Jason or hanging out with my best friend, Ava. My life revolves around school, studying, and home. There’s not much else to do in a town like this. Ava’s been my best friend for as long as I can remember. She’s like a sister to me. We’ve shared everything from her first heartbreak over that jerk Jordan, to her first kiss. I still remember the night she cried her eyes out over Jordan. We ate tubs of ice cream and watched classic old movies until the tears turned into laughter. After that heartbreak, Ava changed. She became this wild, carefree girl who doesn’t care about relationships anymore. I guess you could say she’s living her best life now, doing whatever she wants without looking back. I’m walking to my favorite coffee shop to meet up with Ava. She’s got some surprise planned for my birthday, but honestly, I’m not that excited. I know Mom is working a double shift tonight. What’s the point of celebrating if the one person I want to see isn’t even going to be there? Still, this is supposed to be a special day. Eighteen is a milestone. You only turn eighteen once, and it marks the start of adulthood. The day I can finally leave this town behind. Lost in my thoughts, I don’t even realize I’ve reached the coffee shop until I hear Ava shouting, “Hey, Jess!” She’s waving at me from inside, a big smile on her face. I shake off my thoughts and walk over to her. As soon as I sit down, Ava starts talking excitedly about this new club that just opened downtown. Apparently, it’s a hotspot, drawing in celebrities and billionaires from all over the country. “How do you even know all this?” I ask, raising an eyebrow. But then I laugh to myself of course she knows. This is Ava we’re talking about. She grins. “Some guy I hooked up with his cousin works there. We can get in, no problem. VIP treatment, baby.” I shake my head. “Oh, Ava, as much as I’d love to, I can’t. Mom’s pulling a double shift, and I have to babysit Jason.” Ava waves her hand dismissively. “Don’t worry about that! I can have my sister babysit him. I’ll promise to let her raid my closet, and boom, the deal is set.” I laugh, but part of me is hesitant. I’ve never done anything like this before. But then again, it’s my eighteenth birthday. Maybe it’s time to take a risk, to do something I’ll remember forever. Ava leans in closer. “Come on, Jess. You only turn eighteen once. Let’s make it a night to remember.” Looking into her hopeful eyes, I can’t help but smile. Maybe she’s right. Maybe it’s time to start living really living. “Alright,” I say, my heart pounding with excitement. “Let’s do it.”Dominic POV The car rolled up to the airport and Leo stepped out first. John was already standing there, casual, hands in his pockets like he had all the time in the damn world. Leo opened the door, and John slid inside. And of course—Hayley pounced.“Hi, I’m Hayley,” she purred, leaning in so far she was practically sitting in his lap.Good God.I bit back the urge to tell her to sit her ass down. The woman had zero self-respect. She flashed him some playful smile, twirled her hair, touched his arm…I rubbed a hand over my jaw, irritation burning through me.Pathetic.This was the person they expected me to marry?A walking embarrassment?I’d sooner let the Diaz bloodline die out than tie myself to someone this desperate.By the time we reached my place, I’d had enough stupidity for one day.“Leo, take Hayley home,” I said, already stepping out.She shot up straight.“What? No! I’m staying. I want to stay with you—”I didn’t even look back.“You’re going home.”My voice left no roo
Dominic POV I stood there for a moment, like the breath had been knocked straight out of my lungs.Jess looked pale—too pale—but there was still something about her that dragged my eyes over every inch of her. The faint flush on her cheeks, the way her chest rose a little too fast, her fingers gripping the folder like it was the only thing holding her up.Something in my chest tightened.I shouldn’t notice any of that. I shouldn’t care.I forced my voice steady.“You can take the day off. You’re not looking well.”Her lashes fluttered like the words surprised her. She looked up at me slowly, and for one stupid second, our eyes locked—hazel to gray—and the rest of the office fell away.“Thank you, Mr. Diaz.”Mr. Diaz.Anyone else saying that sounded stiff. Distant. A title. From her, it sounded… soft. Like the start of something I had no business wanting. The way her lips wrapped around it did not help.Heat slid down my spine, slow and unwelcome.I took a half-step closer before my b
Jess POV I woke up feeling… wrong. Not tired. Not hungover. Not stressed.Just wrong.A heavy, dragging feeling weighed me down like my bones were glued to the mattress. My head throbbed, my stomach twisted, and my mouth was dry like sandpaper.“What the hell?” I muttered, pressing my palm to my forehead.I hadn’t eaten anything weird.Didn’t drink last night.Didn’t do anything except stress over—ugh—Dominic Diaz.I groaned.“Great. I’m allergic to him. That must be it. One look at that man and my whole immune system collapses.”I tried to sit up, but a wave of dizziness slapped me so hard I fell right back into the pillows.Jesus.I rubbed my face and turned toward the alarm clock. And froze.“OH, HELL NO!”I shot up like someone set me on fire. The clock was basically screaming at me — I was late. Not just late. Late late.“LIAM!” I yelled, sprinting down the hallway like a madwoman. But instead of chaos, I found him standing in the living room, fully dressed, curls bouncing, lunc
After last night’s disaster with my father, I needed something—anything—to pull my mind out of the power games he thinks he still controls. The man walks around like he’s the alpha of this entire city, expecting everyone to bow the second he breathes in their direction. Not me.Not anymore. This week is critical.I just secured a project I’ve been chasing for six damn months. Six months—and Jess has been here less than a week, and I land the second biggest deal of my career. If that woman wasn’t an angel sent from heaven…If this wasn’t fate…I don’t know what the hell you’d call it.I stepped into the shower, letting the hot water slam into my shoulders, trying to wash last night’s anger off me. My father’s voice—cold, commanding—echoed in my skull. His demands. His plans for my future. His expectations like a chain tightening around my throat. He still thinks he owns me.He still thinks he can control my life. He’s wrong. When I stepped out, steam rolled across the room. I walked to
