Debt ridden

I rushed into the house when I accidentally heard a commotion from outside, and the first sight I saw when I opened the door was a house that looked like a broken ship. Shards of glass scattered on the floor, as well as items that appear to have fallen, are not in their place, and I know who is the culprit who makes all the contents of the house a mess, Father.

It's been a few days since I've seen my father behave differently; he often gets angry and throws tantrums. It's all allegedly because of his father's collapsing company, which put him in debt in order to save the company he had built from scratch. But the result was nil; the company still didn't improve, but my father had piled up debts, not to mention the employees who demanded their salaries.

I stepped slowly, and I swung towards my room. But, when I crossed the living room, I saw a strange sight: I saw my father kneeling in front of my brother. He begged desperately, and I don't know what made him do that.

"Dad begging Gita, please help daddy; this is the only way we can get out of this problem. Do you want to see daddy in jail?"

I was immediately shocked; I couldn't bear to imagine my father, who had been the backbone of the family, going to jail, but I was still confused. What did my father ask from Gita, my father's eldest daughter, and my sister, but we are different mothers?

"Why should I?" Gita crossed her arms and looked at Agam bravely. "Dad, you have succeeded in getting rid of Mother, and now you also want to get rid of me? by marrying me to a foreign man? And make me a debt taker?" Gita stared at Agam with a squint.

"And what did dad say earlier? For the sake of family? "You will live quietly here, enjoying the results of my sacrifice, while I?" Gita didn't seem to believe her father's request, who asked Gita to marry a man she didn't like at all. "I don't want to!" rejected Gita outright.

"You all have hurt me! Because of you, my mother died! Gita looked hysterical. "Why didn't you ask him to get married?" Gita pointed at me, making me flinch in shock. Gita threw it at me. Is this how to save yourself? By making me the victim?

I was about to answer Gita's words, but Mother's hand, which immediately held my shoulder, made me speechless.

"You agree. Well, if Anyelir gets married," Mother said without asking me first, making me stare at Mother in disbelief. This is my mother, right? The woman who gave birth to me? I never thought that Mother would hand me over without asking for my consent first.

I can see Gita's triumphant smile; she seems to be laughing at my next fate. I have known for a long time that Gita never liked me or my mother.

Then they were legally married in the eyes of the law exactly 1 month after the departure of Gita's mother.

If I were in Gita's position, maybe I would have done the same thing, so I don't blame her because she hates me. But I still can't stop thinking about my own mother's thoughts. I know she feels guilty towards Sis Gita, to the point that you do everything you can to win the heart of her continued daughter, but not at the expense of me too, right?

"Mom…" I stared at my mother, protesting.

"I beg Anyelir, just this once you sacrifice for the family." My mother's eyes looked at me pleadingly.

Sacrifice? Wrong; more precisely, I sacrificed to save my husband, mother, and daughterand daughter. I stared at my mother, who still insisted on asking me to marry a foreign man to replace Gita.

"Never mind Rose, no one will help me; just let us all be destroyed," said Daddy Agam.

as if directed at me, even though her daughter is not only me but Gita too.

"Okay, I'm willing." With a straight face, I accepted my parents' request.

"Really, honey?" My mother seemed not to believe the answer I gave.

"This is what you want; now it's up to you. I've given you the answer." I swung my feet, leaving my parents, who smiled with relief because soon they would be out of all this trouble.

When I got to the room, I threw my bag in any direction. I felt like I wanted to scream out loud. I know mom and dad were wrong because they secretly got married behind Gita's mother, to the point that Gita really hated father and mother too. It didn't even end there; I also became an outlet for Sis Gita's anger because I was born from the womb of the woman who stole my fatheGita.

All this time, mother has been trying to win Gita's heart and hopes that Gita will accept her, even to the point that mother cares more about Gita and prioritizes everything about Gita than me, her own biological daughter. I don't have a problem if my mother loves Gita; it's just that I want you to be fair to me too, but in fact, you seem to be looking for a safe place by yourself.

When I was daydreaming, I heard a knock on my bedroom door, which I had not locked before, and soon I heard my mother's voice asking permission to enter. I struggled to regulate my breath, trying to suppress my emotional feelings. I slowly stepped towards the door. I see my mother's smile, which I rarely see since we moved into this house, not because she never smiles happily; it's just that she never smiles at me again.

"What's wrong, Mom?" I lazily asked; I was still patient and asked in the politest possible tone.

"May you come in?" I shifted my body away from the door so that my mother could enter my room, and I closed the door to my room again.

"Mommy knows you must be very angry and disappointed with your mother's attitude, but..."

"Whatever it is, I don't want to hear Mommy's defense." Just say I was impudent for interrupting my mother's words, who wanted to defend herself, but I also wanted to rebel; I wanted them to know how I felt.

"Anyelir, listen to Mommy; all this time you have felt guilty towards Gita because of your mistake. And Mom couldn't bear it if she had to marry a man she didn't love; all this time she had suffered because of Mom and Dad's mistakes, plus she had to lose her biological mother. I want to give love to Gita; I hope you can understand, dear," said Mother while shedding tears.
