Chapter 28

Silas' POV

I sat in front of my laptop, trying to make sense of what I was seeing. I have been staring at my laptop for quite some time now, finding what I was seeing unbelievable.

"There is something you guys should definitely know." I blurted out, my eyes still fixed on the laptop but I could now feel Lucius and Jax's eyes on me.

"What's that?" Lucius asked.

"Something is weird." I stated. "Remember how we had journeyed from our secret cabin to fighting through territories and eve

Chapter 33Soraya’s POVWe ran down to the hospital like it was an emergency because it was!Our boots pounded as we slammed through the double doors leading into the main ward. The nurses awoke to look at us, and a doctor yelled for us to stop, but we ignored them completely, hoping on getting to the Alpha’s room before that syringe met his IV line. When we rounded the final corner into the intensive care hallway, Jax suddenly pulled back on my arm, forcing me to a halt. "Look,"The two pack guards stationed outside the Alpha’s door were slumped against the wall fast asleep on the ground."They’ve been drugged," Silas muttered, stepping over one of the prone men.By my father’s pawn no doubtI grabbed the metal handle of the hospital door, pushed it open, and slipped into the room with the triplets right behind me. The figure in the dark scrubs was leaning over the bed, their gloved hand holding the syringe inches away from the clear plastic tube connected to the Alpha’s arm."Get aw

Chapter 32Soraya's POVThe calm dinner evolved into a chaotic crime scene. At the words poisoned my heart rate doubled and PTSD kicked in.Beside me, Lucius, Silas, and Jax rose in unison, their bodies tense, instantly forming a protective barrier around me as if I was the one whose life was being threatened.Guards poured into the room and within minutes, the distant wail of sirens cut through the night, growing louder and louder until an ambulance screeched to a halt right outside the front entrance.A trolley was pushed in by two male nurses, pushing past the guards to get to the Alpha’s seizing body.To me it happened in a blur as the nightmare of being framed replayed in my mind.Thankfully the triplets were there and they held me, noticing my panicked reaction.Silas handed me a glass of water and I gulped it down in one swallow. It helped enough to bring me back to the present but my heart rate didn't settle. One of the guards walked up to us as the Alpha was carried away, his

Chapter 31Soraya's POVI looked at the wall clock, my heart pullementing in my chest. It was just a few minutes past eight and the dinner was to happen at nine. They really were early and I looked a mess.I looked down at my stained outfit, catching a faint whiff of the chicken sauce I’d helped make earlier. There was no way I would let them see me like this.“Stall them for a while, tell the maids to serve them wine and shoe them to the table, I’ll be down in a few.” I said removing the band from my hair preparing to go take a bath.Worse, my mother's words made me intensely, painfully self-conscious. I had spent weeks surviving in the mud and blood with Lucius, Silas, and Jax. They had seen me at my absolute worst, broken and bruised. But tonight, standing in my childhood home, the thought of them seeing me looking like a ragged servant made something inside me recoil.“Ma’am they said it’s important,” the maid insisted but I shook my head."Tell them I'll be down in fifteen minute

Chapter 30Soraya's POV I could swear my heart stopped. In a fraction of a second, my survival instincts kicked in, and I ducked under the heavy oak desk still holding a part of the blueprint. With my other hand, I desperately reached up, guiding the hidden panel back into place beneath the drawer. Heavy footsteps echoed through the hardwood floor. My lungs burned as I clamped my mouth shut, holding my breath so tightly my chest throbbed. The footsteps moved closer, and through the narrow gap beneath the wood, I saw the dark brown sole of my father’s shoes stop barely two feet away from my face.I closed my eyes, my pulse hammering so loudly in my ears I was terrified he would hear it.Above me, a drawer slid open. I heard the rustle of papers, followed by the sharp, metallic *click* of a key turning in a lock.He stayed there for what felt like an eternity, and I was scared I would faint before he left. However, the drawer slammed shut then the boots turned, walking back toward

Chapter 29Soraya's POVI saw the accident even before it happened. My mom looked stressed moving her neck from side to side, her hands busy as she barked orders. In the chaos, it didn’t surprise me when she reached into the oven and looked away speaking to a maid before mistakenly touching the hot pan, forgetting to wear mittens.“Ouch!” She cried out with a hiss pulling back her and her hand turned blistering red.The dish slipped and smashed against the oven door before shattering on the floor."Mom!" I rushed into the kitchen and grabbed her, gently pulling her burned hand away. "You need to sit down, I’ll get the first-aid kit."I was about to leave but her voice stopped me in my tracks."No, no, don't!" she cried out, her voice pitching into a dramatic, breathless sob that made my chest tighten with immediate guilt. She cradled her burning arm tightly against her chest, her eyes wide and watering as she looked around the messy kitchen."I can't be hurt right now. I just can't. D

I blurted out, my eyes still fixed on the laptop but I could now feel Lucius and Jax's eyes on me."What's that?" Lucius asked."Something is weird." I stated. "Remember how we had journeyed from our secret cabin to fighting through territories and even getting attacked on the way.""Yes, I don't think we can erase that memory away from our head." Jax said."At least not anytime soon." Lucius added. "So what's the weird thing?""I just found out something about the conspiracy and the person involved will shock you guys to the core.""Stop beating around the bush, Silas and jump straight to the point." Jax grunted. "Who is behind the conspiracy?""Soraya's mother." I let out."What?" Lucius gasped. "Did I just hear you say Soraya's mother?" "
