LAUREN'S POV

“Fine, Lauren, you win!” The teen warrior who was older than me cried, “Seriously, why are you so strong? You are only 7!”

“No. You are too weak. A good warrior in my father’s pack should be as strong as I am.”

I knew what I said was not exactly true. He was full of potential and expected to be the strongest warrior in the future.

It was a serious battle which is normal among wolves.

“Another victory isn’t it, my little cupcake? Congratulations!”

It’s my mother’s voice.

My father came, too. He hugged me, “Today is our little warrior’s birthday, remember? The party is ready.”

In the pack house, everyone was happy and in a celebration mood. Being the daughter of the alpha king, my pack members adored and showered me with gifts.

“Thank you, everybody! I am the happiest person in this world!”

It was indeed a happy day for me until the unexpected happened. My uncle whom I loved so much showed up and I was happy to see him, but he turned my birthday party into a funeral.

A day I will not forget, he took the life of my parents and made me an orphan on my birthday.

“No! Uncle Roco!”

I thought I was a strong warrior but when facing their attacks, that’s the only word I could say.

“Lauren, this tunnel is linked from outside our pack to my office, you can open it and close it with a drop of your blood.”

My father demonstrated this by using a drop of his blood. I knew he was showing me an escape route.

Before my father died, he handed me to his beta and his mate. "Drake and Rhoda, take my little girl as yours, protect her as I will, and make sure she comes back for the throne." My father asked them.

"Lauren, led them to safety. Papa loves you so much." He said before he took his last breath. I tried to wake him but I was dragged away by my father's beta.

“No! I don’t want him to die!”

I shouted and then I woke up, with tears in my eyes.

“Same nightmare, Lauren? “

That’s my wolf, Jada. She felt my emotions and dragged me out of the contemplation of my childhood experience.

“You are the one who knows me the most." I nodded, "I will never forget that day."

I could remember what was going on next.

The younger version of me was crying but understood what was going on and she let them out of the pack through the tunnel. She escaped the pack carried by my father's best friend and his beta, and they comforted her as we walked.

She cried her heart out because she would not see her parents again, but she, or I, could still see the bloody killing scene, even today.

Every birthday I don’t celebrate but mourn my parents and train myself a whole day.

But I still feel lost sometimes: How strong I should be for revenge?

Until the Moon Goddess showed up in my dream when I was thirteen. She said, “Lauren, you are the only royal remaining. At the right time, I will lead you back to your father's pack. You are destined to rule.”
