Wedding Or A Funeral

[Amya’s POV]

Blood...

It staind everything around me; my arms and my hands; the pristine white sheets that were so meticulously laid for this very night; and even the body of the bastard that wanted to ruin me with his bare hands.

It looked so beautiful, mixing in with my off-white wedding gown and covering my dagger that had been used to take the man beneath me’s life.

"Y-you…" He gasped, his eyes growing wide with the realization that he wouldn’t survive this. "W-why…"

"Why?" I purred, leaning back on my heels and bringing a manicured nail to my chin. "Because your family took from me the one of the people that truly meant something to me."

Armal... Even to this day, I haven't fully forgiven myself for what happened to him. Had I not allowed Mia to show her attraction and connection to him, maybe he would still be here.

Closing my eyes, I tried to fight off the images of that night that tried to escape. It was in the past, but it was still so fucking fresh.

‘Armal has finally been avenged.’ Mia sighed, sending waves of sadness through me.

‘He won’t be coming back.’ I reminded her.

‘I know!’ She snapped back.

Rolling my eyes, I got up off the bed and continued to watch as Miquel’s already porcelain skin began to take on a grayish hue. His eyes that shined so fucking brightly as he destroyed everything that meant something to me began to grow dull, and his damned mouth that always stayed in a smirk twisted in agony as he continuously tried to heal, but couldn’t.

"You can give up." I giggled, crossing my arms. "The poison that I cured my dagger with guarantees that you will never heal."

It was a small victory at least to watch him suffer just as he watched me suffer for all those years. The unbeatable alpha that was blessed by the moon goddess herself to live a long and fulfilling life was taking his last breath at the ripe old age of forty.

‘We need to go.’ Mia reminded me, drawing me from my trance. ‘I’m sure the pack has already begun to smell the blood.’

‘I know.’ I huffed, lifting a piece of my gown and wiping Miguel’s blood off my blade.

"Sorry, unbeatable alpha." I laughed, blowing a kiss. "But this is where we part ways. I do hope the next time we meet it is in hell and not in this life. "

Giving a wave, I climbed onto the windowsill of the second-floor bridal chamber that I had been locked in since sunset and stared out into the night. The grounds below were still alive with celebration of this auspicious day. No one was the wiser about the fact that their precious leader was bleeding out as they not only celebrated his wedding night, but his death day.

Sucking in a breath, I stood and closed my eyes. I wouldn’t be able to escape on the ground, so it would be up to Mia to get us out of this.

‘You called?’ Mia purred, excitement beginning to grow. ‘Is it my time to shine?’

‘That’s right.’ I responded, immediately regretting my decision.

‘I thought you’d never ask.’

Closing my eyes, I waited for the familiar pull that meant Mia was taking over to come. It wasn't until I was in a calm, peaceful oasis that I opened them again and realized Mia had taken the reins.

Letting out a sigh, I collapsed on the lush green grass that existed in this odd world we shared. Even after twenty-two years of going through these switches, I still hadn’t gotten used to it, but I also no longer questioned it either.

‘Time for take off!’ Mia purred, drawing my attention back to the situation at hand. ‘It looks like the guards have finally realized what you’ve done.’

‘Dammit.’

I had at least hoped that I would get a bit longer for an escape. But it seemed that they weren’t as drunk as I thought.

‘Get going!’ I snarled. ‘Don’t forget that if our body is destroyed, we’re both goners!’

‘I know.’ Mia snapped. ‘I’m already moving.’

Letting out a sigh, I watched through Mia’s eyes as the ground below began to grow farther and farther away, leaving the crowd below, now panicking, looking like miniscule ants. By the time they arrived at the bridal chambers, we would be long gone and Miguel would have already taken his last breath. They would only be left with the task of burying him and cleaning the space to avoid the gossip that was sure to come.

‘Finally.’ I sighed, looking towards the clear blue sky above.

My mission was finally over, and all those years of preparing to become the perfect bride so that I could exact my revenge were done.

‘What will you do with your life now?’ Mia asked, conversationally. ‘Up til now, we have simply lived to avenge Armal. Now that it is done, what is there?’

‘Good question.’

What was there out there for us now? For the rest of our lives, we would simply be running away, avoiding being found and hung for killing such a powerful being. There was truly no peace anywhere if I considered it. However, if given the opportunity, I would do it all over again. Miguel deserved to suffer for eternity. In a way, my killing him was a kindness.

‘Gollapsis, perhaps?’ Mia tried.

‘NO!’ I hissed.

There was no way that we could return there now. Not after ruining everything our parents worked so hard for. All they ever cared for was power, and by marrying us off to Miguel, they intended to gain the ultimate power. Now, they’d be lucky if they weren’t arrested for treason because of what we did.

‘Then what?’ Mia demanded. ‘Wha…?’

As I tried to process the sudden change in Mia’s attitude, I felt myself being thrown back into control of the body we both shared.

‘What’s going on?’ I hissed as pain radiated from just beneath my ribs. ‘Mia!’

‘Attack.’ Mia managed before disappearing entirely as we quickly spiraled towards the ground below.

Letting out a string of profanities, I braced myself as I slammed into the hard ground, breaking a few ribs and cracking my skull where it hit a large rock much too hard.

"Dammit that hurts." I growled, attempting to sit up and take in my surroundings.

"This is just the beginning. There is quite the reward for your head."

"Who?"

Slowly, I allowed my eyes to trace up a large, chiseled body that was wrapped in too tight black clothing, allowing everything to show, and I did mean everything.

My mouth watered as I took in the large bulge beneath his pants. Fuck, how would that beast feel going inside me?

"Could you stop eye-fucking me?"

Letting a slow smile begin to spread across my lips, I continued to take in the fine specimen in front of me. Once I had my fill, I finally allowed myself to take in the gruff, tanned face of my attacker. Despite the cold aura that was radiating from him, his ice blue gaze held amusement as I remained mystified.

Even though I knew that I should be worried, I couldn’t ignore the odd pull I was beginning to feel towards him. It was almost as if my very being gravitated towards his, and by the way his eyes were beginning to darken, I knew that he felt it too.

Kneeling down, he wrapped his arms around me and pulled me to my feet so that my body pressed flush against his. A hiss of pain escaped me as I'm reminded of my wound, but the pain ceased as warm, intoxicating energy began to flow into me from my attacker.

"Are you a friend or foe?" I whispered as a strong sense of desire flared just from the mere heat I felt coming from his body.

"Neither." He smirked devilishly. "My alliance lies with the highest bidder. They say kill, I say how much."

"Then are you here to kill me?" I asked, trying to remain rational as his intoxicating essence attacked all my senses.

"Not in the literal sense." He whispers in my ear. "I plan to hog tie and fuck you until you’re so exhausted you’ll feel like you’re gonna die."

"Is that a promise?" My core throbs as I imagine all the ways he could please me.

"It is and I always keep my promises."
