Evelyn's Pov

I stared at the pregnancy strip for the tenth time this morning instead of preparing for work. My fingers were sweaty and clammy, my heartbeat was a skittering mess and the image before me blurred my vision at the two red lines that indicated that I was pregnant.

I thought the pregnancy kit was faulty so I had opted for the strip instead and reality dawned on me like a hot volcano, I suddenly needed water as my throat became parched with dryness and I didn't know when the tears slipped rapidly from my eyes.

I stepped out of the restroom and I couldn't hide my sad expression towards Cassidy, my friend and fellow maid at home.

"How did it go?"

"I'm pregnant Cass." I choked on my words and her eyes flew open in dread. "Five weeks." I continued in a hoarse voice and tears laced her eyes which made me broke down in a terrible sob.

"What? H..how?." Her voice was so shaky, she knew what would befall me, and she knew Silvio would kill me especially since the engagement plans were already fixed and scheduled.

"No Evelyn, what would you do?" She asked and hugged me, no hint of condemnation was laced in her tone and I swallowed a bitter lump.

"I don't know, my father would kill me." I sniffed and shook and she bit her lips hard.

"Leave your father alone because Silvo will bury you Alive! You know how dangerous he is, even if you wanted to have sex why didn't you use contraceptives?" She whined and bit her lips, staring off space as if she was thinking of what to do and I chuckled at my stupidity.

Was contraceptives even an option for me then when I was shamelessly begging the strangers to go deeper and faster?
