Chapter 4

Author: Cocojam
I didn’t sleep all night.

The next morning, I walked down to the dining room.

Caleb and Finn were already at the table.

Caleb looked exhausted, his eyes slightly bloodshot. His mating lust had clearly tortured him all night.

Finn looked pale, picking at his food.

“Good morning,” I said cheerfully, sitting down.

They both looked up.

Caleb forced a smile. “Morning, Cora. How did you sleep?”

“Perfectly,” I lied. “I feel energized.”

Finn suddenly slammed his fork down.

“Cora, what did you do to the butterfly?”

His voice was sharp, accusing.

I raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean?”

“It’s dying!” Finn shouted, his face contorted. “Its color is gone! It’s not moving! Did you poison it?!”

Caleb’s expression instantly darkened. The Alpha Command returned, pressing down on the room.

“Cora. Explain.”

I calmly picked up my coffee cup and took a sip.

“I didn’t do anything,” I said smoothly. “But maybe it’s just naturally weak. After all, it’s a parasite. It needs a massive amount of Healer's blood to survive. One drop isn't enough.”

I looked at Finn, my eyes cold.

“So, that gives it the right to bleed me dry? I’m your sister, Finn. Not livestock.”

Finn flinched slightly, but his stubbornness quickly returned.

“It’s a sacred artifact! It’s for the good of the Pack! You’re just being selfish!”

Caleb intervened, his voice tight.

“Enough. Finn, calm down. Cora, if it needs more blood, you have to provide it. It’s your duty as Luna.”

“My duty,” I repeated softly. “Of course.”

I stood up.

“I’ll go feed it now. But I need to do it alone. The moon-magic requires absolute concentration.”

Caleb hesitated, then nodded.

“Fine. But don’t hurt it again.”

I walked upstairs, a cold smile forming on my lips.

I entered the master bedroom and locked the door.

The chrysalis was indeed in bad shape. The Wolfsbane had severely damaged its core.

But it wasn't dead. It was incredibly resilient.

I sat on the bed and took out my phone.

I opened the recording app and placed it on the nightstand, right next to the case.

Then, I pricked my finger and let a single drop of blood fall onto the glass.

The chrysalis weakly twitched. A tiny tendril slowly extended, trying to reach the blood.

I pulled my finger away just out of reach.

“You want it?” I whispered. “Then talk to me, Lilith.”

Through the weak blood-tie, a faint, hateful voice echoed in my mind.

You bitch… I’ll kill you…

I smiled.

“Not today.”

I left the room, leaving the recorder running.

That afternoon, Caleb took Finn out for Pack training.

I went back to the master bedroom and played the recording.

Most of it was silence.

But then, I heard a voice. A voice I knew all too well.

It was Finn.

He had sneaked into the room while I was in the shower.

“Sister Lilith, hold on,” Finn’s voice whispered, filled with twisted affection. “I won’t let her kill you. Tomorrow, I’ll mix a heavy dose of Wolfsbane into her tea. Once she’s knocked out, you can drink your fill.”

“Just endure it a little longer. Soon, you’ll shift, and we’ll get rid of that useless bitch forever.”

I stopped the recording.

My heart was completely numb.

My own brother. Planning to drug me and feed me to a monster.

There was no going back now.

The sound of a hammer striking obsidian was dull and sharp. The Dark Witch, Silas, held up a three-inch soul-binding nail. It had been soaked in concentrated Wolfsbane and a pure silver solution. He aimed it precisely at the chrysalis's dark red core. The bone powder had already sealed its shifting pathway. It couldn’t move, but a tsunami of pure terror crashed into my mind.“Stop…”It was Lilith’s voice, shaking hysterically, stabbing at my nerves through the severed blood-tie.Silas didn’t hesitate. The hammer fell. The nail pierced the hard shell, sinking deep into its core.“AHHH—IT HURTS!”A horrific scream tore through my mind. I took a sip of my coffee. My hand didn't even tremble.I looked down at the convulsing thing.“I hurt, too,” I said softly. “Every time you devoured my Healer’s blood, every time you tore away a piece of my inner wolf, I was in so much pain I couldn’t sleep. What’s wrong?”“I… I don’t know,” I gasped, putting a hand to my head. “I feel so dizzy. My inner wolf feels completely drained.”Finn stood in the background, a sly smirk on his face.“You must be exhausted from feeding the butterfly,” Caleb said quickly, hiding his excitement. “You need to rest.
