Shortly after that conversation, Tricia dragged me straight to the airport. "It's Joshua's birthday! Come with me, please!" she said.

Joshua was from Heston, a city in the north. And before I knew it, I was being hauled onto a flight there.

As soon as we stepped out of the airport, I saw that everything around was blanketed in white. There was also a car already waiting for us outside.

Tricia dove into the front seat, teeth chattering as she shouted about how cold it was.

I opened the back door and saw Xander, fully geared up. He was bundled up tight in the works—scarf, hat, gloves, and all.

We didn't even get to drop off our luggage at the hotel, as we were driven straight to a ski resort.

Before getting out of the car, Xander handed me a pair of warm gloves and a scarf. I didn't refuse, because it was too cold.
