Chapter 4

"Why do you have a knife in your purse?" Aemon asked after deceiving the stubborn Lily. She was still in awe while looking at Aemon beside her. Yes, she made some trouble for her mother but it just backfired on her.

"I can't believe you're asking me that after deceiving me," she said in regret. Now, she just realized that this man already knew her when she knocked on his window earlier. Aemon only pretended not to know her like they were completely strangers.

"I should get to know my fiancé," he said annoyingly and even smirked at her.

"I'm not gonna marry you," Lily said confidently as if she could not really marry Aemon. He simply chuckled before getting out of the car and leaving her alone. In the next minute, Aemon went to open the door for her.

"You can't stay there," he said, trying to stop himself from smirking. That annoys her and he can feel it, it's all over her face.

"I bring a knife so I can kill people that I am annoyed with," Lily uttered as soon as she got out of his car. He knew that Lily was pertaining to her when she said that. But then, death threats are normal in Aemon's life. He receives tons of it each day. His life being on the edge of death doesn't scare him anymore. Lily is about to enter his chaotic world where death surrounds them.

"I killed many," Aemon uttered that made Lily glued her eyes to him.

"What?"

"Nothing."

They were both looking at each other. Aemon can already see how tough this woman is. It makes him sure that he's marrying the right woman who will be his wife in a few days. Those exquisite eyes of her were obnoxious enough to live in the world he has. And the words coming from hers were strong enough to last in his world. He sees a future in her…with him. Even her beauty can deceive many men.

"I see that you've met," Lily's uncle now intervened with those stares.

"We did," Aemon said and smiled so tiny.

"Are you Lily David?" the old woman asked Lily. She didn't even notice her beside her uncle. Her blood already boils just by looking at him. She could tell how wealthy she is by her clothes and accessories. The old lady was smiling at her from ear to ear as if she was glad to meet her.

"Yes, I am."

She forced herself to draw a smallest smile on her lips, ignoring her uncle's presence with them.

"She's gorgeous," she complimented. "I have heard a lot from you."

Lily suddenly chuckled. "You didn't hear everything, I guess?" Then, her eyes shifted to her uncle, giving him a warning from his eyes. He probably invented new stories to make her image clean and beautiful. Why would he tell them the truth that would affect his image?

What a fvckin' liar.

Said Lily in her mind.

"Lily!" the ice Lily was trying to create melted when her mother arrived in panic, looking for her.

Aemon now glances at his fiancé who's already annoyed at the people around them. He's getting interested in this woman even more. She likes to play games with them.

"Why would you do that, huh?! I thought you're gonna run aw—"

"Oh, I was really running away…but I trusted the wrong man," she said and looked at Aemon with her sharp eyes as a knife.

His eyebrows simply raised and shrugged innocently.

"A pleasure to meet the mother of my fiancé," he respectfully said and hung his bare hand to the air.

"I'm glad to meet you, Aemon Cooper." Her mother smiling that huge makes Lily furious enough. How can she smile that wide after everything? She smiles like she didn't lose her husband.

"This is Aemon's grandmother," the three of them started to interact together and they were left behind as they walked inside the mansion. Lily can't see the friendship between the three of them. The only thing she can see from them is negotiating. They are their product to earn in this d*mn business of them.

"You've been killing your mother and your uncle with your stares," Aemon whispered and offered his hand to her as they walked. Lily didn't refuse. They are about to marry each other though.

"I wish I could," she replied in a dull voice.

"Do you know your Uncle's life?" Aemon started to ask. She probably doesn't know that he's a Mafia boss, a powerful one.

Lily cackled and shook her head. "I'm not interested in an evil's life."

"Why do you hate him?" he asked again. Lily really caught his full attention.

"I would be writing a d*mn book if I will tell every reason I have for that," she took a deep sigh and those beautiful eyes of hers started to go around in downcast. "My father died last week…my fvcking uncle and his wife who just died were trying to cover it up. They said it was a car accident but I fvcking saw all the shots all over my father's body. Even my mother doesn't want to speak, they are all shutting me up when I know his death was a huge crime and we should seek justice."

Aemon now understands why she's fuming mad and why her eyes are sharper than a knife. It is starting to reveal its true colors. The pain, hatred, and grief filling her eyes.

Pain. Does he still know what it feels? Aemon has been living this hellish life of his. And since the first day he does, he forgot about what it feels like to be in pain. He became dense.

"What do you like to do, Lily? You don't have to work when you marry my grandson." Aemon pulled the chair for Lily as they all started the dinner.

"I like drawing," she simply answered and avoided all of their eyes. Shame on them. She just can't stare at those eyes of the people who were shutting her up.

"Lily is really good at that," her mother shared.

"Anyways, why don't we plan the engagement so we can proceed to the wedding immediately?" Her uncle suggested it as if it was his life. If the knife and fork were fragile, Lily could possibly destroy it as she clenched her hand while eating. Aemon beside him saw it clearly. He wants to feel guilty about it, but in his mind, he will never let her go.

"I agree, we can get everything done anytime."

The conversation about their engagement goes on while Lily is just silent. Aemon was also conversing with them and she already felt an outcast at the table.

"Excuse me," she said with a tiny respect to them before she stood up and threw the napkin on her chair. Aemon couldn't help but to be bothered when Lily started to march out of there.

Why is he even concerned?

"Excuse me, I'll go to the bathroom." They weren't distracted by Aemon that he was able to leave the table easily to follow Lily. He lost her already that quick. Not until he saw a smoke coming from the back yard.

"Do you smoke?" she simply asked as if she was already expecting him to come. The smoke keeps blowing from her mouth as it roams in the air.

"I will if the cigarette came from your lips," Lily simply smirked before lending her cigarette to him.

"Why do you want to marry me?" she asked. It's bothering her. How can this wealthy and perfect man that every woman would die for want to marry him? She's against this, but Aemon doesn't seem to be against it.

"Why not?" he asked back.

"You must not expect anything from me," she warned him. This guy wants to marry a full of sh*ts in life woman.

"I want you," he was so candid that he didn't even hesitate to say that to her.

"On the bed?" she joked.

"In my life," that made Lily froze for a moment. She wasn't taking it seriously but Aemon was sincere in his words. Lily stared at him as they only had a small distance from each other.

"I will run away," she said in her soft deep voice, challenging Aemon.

But then, she plays with the wrong man. He looked back and welcomed those eyes of hers at him.

"I will chase you right away, Lily…" he started to step closer to her and Lily made a backward move from him. She's starting to feel this drum in her chest. Those eyes of Aemon feel like melting her. Their hearts were thumping fastly as they both breath softly that goes around them. There is this feeling where Lily feels weak as Aemon's hand went on her elbow.

"You must know that…" he seductively glanced at her red lips, tempting himself.

"What?" Lily managed to ask in her tough voice, not surrendering to this man.

"I will never let you go, Lily David…or should I say, Lily Cooper?" he smirked before his fingers ran on her soft cheek and left her hanging there.

It was the moment where Lily realized that he will never get away from that man—Aemon Cooper.
