Chapter 5

“No wait!”

Raven’s hand slips from Mouse’s hold, pain, confusion and disbelief sacking her hard. The man in front of her is Draco, the same man who she was once his jewel but now he’s treating her like trash, like he doesn’t care, like he doesn’t know her.

There’s no way she’s leaving without getting an answer. Not a day has passed since his supposed death that she hasn’t lived in grief.

Many mornings where she found it difficult to get up from her bed, many more nights that she cried herself to sleep dressed in his oversized clothes just to feel close to him.

So many times she contemplated ending her own life for a chance to be with him as life was suddenly no longer worth living.

Her obsession with creating a vaccine to prevent werewolves from ever getting harmed by wolfsbane, leading to many sleepless nights is all because of him, because she wanted his death to mean something and here he is, in front of her, treating her with such scorn?

“Why are you doing this Draco? Talk to me, how are you alive?” Her heart clenches as she speaks, tears roll down her eyes freely, the pain she feels is gruesome, heavy.

“I think you have the wrong person, young lady. This is Rex, not Dra whatever, now leave and stop being a nuisance before I add you to my pet collection,” the lady beside Draco quips at her, lifting her hand up and a blue aura shimmers in her palm, her eyes flashing with the same color.

Raven’s eyes are fixed on Draco’s eyes and she cannot see any emotion in them, none whatsoever. He just looks at her like what he wants her to believe that she is, a total stranger.

“Say something….” Raven’s heart breaks even further as the words spill out of her lips, “I mourned you…I still do, what’s going on? Tell me I’m not crazy, tell me I’m not dreaming.”

“You’re wide awake, just delusional. I have no idea who this Draco is,” Draco sneers, giving Mouse a death stare, “do I need to repeat myself?”

“Alright, that’s it, you’re out,” Mouse lunges for her and grabs her arm, yanking her forward but in an unexpected move, she pulls back and drives her boots up into his crotch, making him groan in pain and he lets her go.

The other guy snaps up to his feet but a low growl from Draco makes him halt.

“If Mouse can’t handle this puny thing, then maybe his muscles are useless,” he spits coldly but when he looks at Raven, she catches a look in his eyes, one that gleans through rather quickly but it’s the same one he always had in his eyes when he would teach her self defense tactics and she would pull it off flawlessly.

This particular one was straight out of his classroom as well. In his particular words: ‘no matter how strong a man is, his balls will always weaken him.’

Mouse grunts, straightening himself, his eyes dangerously glaring at Raven. She darts her eyes left and right, grabs a bottle from the table and smashes it.

Mouse is unperturbed by it, about to reach her when she backs up and places the sharp edge of the broken bottle against her neck.

“Why are you doing this? Why did you do all of it? Talk to me Draco, please…if you don’t, then I’m going to hurt myself, please….” She sobs bitterly, her chest rising and falling slowly, trickles of tears running down her eyes.

Mouse looks at Draco sharply, waiting for his orders and so does the rest of the group.

“Well, what are you waiting for? Do it already so we can get back to our fun,” Draco quips and nonchalantly looks away from her, filling his glass from the bottle of tequila in front of him.

A thick lump slowly forces its way down Raven’s throat. For a moment she wonders if she’s wrong about this man’s identity but there’s no way she can be.

She closes her eyes and slowly presses the bottle against her neck, wincing as it pricks her flesh when she feels a hand grab her hand and pull it back.

Her eyes fly open and it's Draco. She heaves a sigh of relief, “I knew it was you,” she mutters.

“It’s not me, I’m not Draco,” he yanks the bottle from her grip, eyes like steel, voice like ice, “you’re just taking so much time to plunge this into your throat that by the time you do, we’d all already be too bored to continue enjoying ourselves.”

He tosses the bottle to Mouse and turns back to face her, “Look here, I don’t fucking know who you are or why you think I’m someone I’m not and I honestly couldn’t give a fuck what your reasons are either but if you ever bother me like this again, I’ll make sure I do you the favour of splitting your throat open myself since you’re so eager to die. Now the get the fuck out of here.”

Raven settles into the passenger seat of Royce’s car, still not quite believing she agreed to be his date to some fancy party, but here she is.Royce, though, looks genuinely pleased as he starts the engine, a smile spreading across his face."I'm glad you agreed to be my date. But before the party, you need a makeover.""A makeover?" She frowns at him, suddenly feeling self-conscious."What's wrong with how I look?""Nothing's wrong with you," he says quickly, and she can hear the sincerity in his voice."But this is a high-end event. We're talking about the mayor, city council members, business owners. You need to look the part."Raven looks down at her worn jeans and plain sweater, suddenly feeling inadequate."So what are you saying exactly?""I'm saying we ditch school today. Forget about the lab, forget about everything else for now. Today is about getting you ready for tonight," he explains as he navigates through traffic. She opens her mouth to protest, she should be working o

Like Royce instructed, Raven strips and gets into the bath, exhaling loudly as the warm water hugs her skin. She sits in there a while, soaking and allowing the water to loosen the tension in her body.It is only when the water goes cold and she starts to feel her skin wrinkle that she finally steps out, pulling the drain. She wraps herself in a large soft towel and pads to the room, her feet hitting the floors with a dull thud. She stops at the sight of a robe already laid out on the bed and walks toward it, unfurling the towel and shrugging the robe on.There is a covered tray on the bedside table and she makes her way over to it, already inhaling the aroma before she sees the food.As always, Royce is doing all the right things even while he's mad at her.During her bath, she had had time to think and came to the realization that he must be mad at her because she went off with Draco. He probably found out somehow, the same way he had known she was at the station without her calling

Raven watches, mouth agape, as Draco speeds off on the motorcycle, leaving her on the deserted road next to his car. What just happened? Her eyes fill up with tears as she registers the situation. After almost bleeding out in her arms, Draco had left her here to run off to another woman while he was still losing blood. After everything they had just been through together? Even in his critical condition, he is more concerned about Carla. That much is obvious. She blinks her eyes dry, trying to force her tears back and lets out a shaky breath. It’s no use as it does nothing to stop the new rush of tears. She crumbles at the side of the car. This feels like a cruel play of fate. Draco keeps pulling her here and there and hurting her even more every time.As if things were not already bad enough, her ears prick to the sound of police sirens, and seconds later, a couple of police cars surround her car.“This is the police! Stand slowly and raise your hands above your head!”Raven is startl

“What the hell—” Raven's scream is cut off by another gunshot plus a louder bang on the car. Then another, and another.“We need to get out of here. Those men are after me. They are from a drug operation we burst recently,” Draco exclaims, igniting the car and pushing the gear into place.Raven’s heart thuds frantically in her chest, getting faster with every bullet that hits the car.“What?”“It’s part of the things I wanted to discuss with you.”Draco tears through the street, swerving sharply into a backstreet, and Raven eyes the rearview for the attacker.A black car is right on their tail, nearing them by the second.“They’re going to catch up soon,” she tells Draco fearfully. He glances at the mirror, seeing the same thing she does, and steps on the gas, going even faster.Another bullet hits the car, shattering the side mirror on the driver’s side, and Raven lets out a loud shriek.“Shit, we have to do something,” Draco growls beside her, going impossibly faster as the car twis

“Raven, wait.” Draco starts calmly, holding her in place with a hand on her shoulder.“Let go of me,” she scowls immediately, jerking her shoulders roughly to loosen his grip.“Just listen—” he tries again.Raven does not give him a chance to speak, cutting him off abruptly.“I don't care what you have to say, just let me go.” she snaps, still struggling against his annoyingly strong hold.He still doesn't let go, “I need to search you,” he says out of the blue, his eyes thinning.Raven is even more enraged by his words. Is he really going to abuse his power right now to talk to her? Whatever it is that he has to say, she has absolutely no interest.”What are you talking about? If it's your text, then forget it. I'm not interested in whatever you have to say. The Draco that I know died a long time ago. Leave me alone Rex,” she enunciates the last part rather loudly. Then like a switch, his tone changes.Tugging her around to face him head-on, he says with a hard tone, “Don't be disill

  • Till Death Do Us Apart   Chapter 69

Raven is in the middle of her experiment at the lab when her phone chimes loudly, distracting her momentarily. With a sigh, she returns the flask back into its stand before turning around to grab her phone from the desk. Her brows furrow at the screen. It is a text from Draco. But that is not what surprises her, it's the contents of the message. He wants to come clean? Will he explain where he has been all these years? Why is he pretending not to be Draco? What is he doing with Carla? Her curiosity is piqued at once, but then she is brought back to reality.Of course, he is Draco, she knows that already. She lets out a scoff.Right now that is enough, because she is done looking in places where she's not wanted. She had spent all this time trying to talk to him, to understand why he had been acting strangely. Instead, he had pushed her away as if she didn't matter. As though he was not the one who abandoned her in the first place. After shredding her heart to pieces and making her mour
