He called me his princess and he promised me a ring, our life together was going to be Epic but when I turned 18 and my wolf cried “Mate”, He rejected me and claimed another girl in front of my eyes before he disappeared from my life, until……one night he caught me in that nightclub, I couldn’t believe it was him but I was sure it was him but then he pinned me to the wall and whispered through gritted teeth. “I don’t know you, and certainly do not love you. You have got the wrong man. But I don’t mind having you for tonight’s appetite.”

Raven smiles at her mom’s text. [Thanks Mom! Have my flowers arrived?] she replies, staring at the half heart tattoo on the back of her hand. The other half is in Draco’s hand, so whenever they hold hands, it makes a full heart. Draco Aslan is her mate, and the most perfect man in this world. In this life full of darkness and sorrow, he is her light and joy, everything and the only thing that makes her happy. They’ve known each other since they were six, even back then she knew she would be his Luna, not because she understood what “Alpha heir” meant, but because she knew he was THE prince of her life. “Don’t even think about it.” The sound of Claire’s voice brings her attention back to the laboratory. Claire is one of her course mates. Class ended a while ago but Claire and her clique like to hang back and gossip. They have tea about everyone on campus and this is where they heartily share it. They don’t mind that she hears, because to them, she doesn't even exist. “What? I just want to say hi to her,” a boy whose name she does not know says and the ladies chuckle. “To that pretty face? Yeah…If you’re not Professor McCall, a test tube or a conical flask, the lab worm speaks to no one.” One of them says in a sarcastic tone. “Listen,” Claire’s voice goes octaves lower, the way it normally does when they gossip about people. “I heard she has a mental illness and if she stops studying and has fun even for a few minutes, she’ll run mad.” “Then they should have sent her to an asylum, not a college. Maybe she’d actually talk to her fellow mad people,” another of the ladies replies and they all laugh. Raven wipes the corner of her eyes, just realising their harsh and false words are making her eyes watery. Mean girls are everywhere but she never learned how to deal with them. Usually, when this sort of thing happens, she would run out to cry in the bathroom and when Draco finds out, they would pay dearly. She pretends not to hear them, packs her things, and bites her lips when she passes them without making eye contact. Her ears are burning, but they are the ones who should feel ashamed! The moment she makes it out of the lab, tears burst out. Draco cared for her so well that she didn't have to learn all these...until college. She doesn’t live in the lab, although she usually stays till midnight, but not today, it’s her birthday. It’s her only day off in the year, the one day she can’t be here all day. She checks her phone again. Her mom hasn’t replied yet so she texts her. [Send a picture of the flower when it arrives, thanks!] On the twilight of her birthdays, roses from Draco arrive. It’s been like that ever since she understood what “romantic” was. This is the night she wants to be nowhere else, but just to enjoy it at home. This is her night. She needs to get a certain red wine. It’s Draco’s favorite. Tonight won’t be the same without it. She remembers the first time they tasted this wine. It was the night of her 17th birthday. She wasn't allowed to drink until she was 18, but he was already 18 a few months ago, and he bragged about how he could buy alcohol now. She begged him to let her have a taste, and he taunted her till she was almost in tears. In the end, he gave up his "manly" whiskey and got a wine, this particular wine, so she could join, and she got drunk. The next morning, Draco’s dad gave him a hell of a beating for getting her drunk and typical Draco got them another bottle to console himself that same night. She parks her car in her apartment’s car park, texting her mom again. It’s already dark out, her flowers should have arrived by now. She’s beginning to get worried. [Not yet honey, maybe he didn’t order them this year?] She snatches the bag containing the wine and a few other items from the passenger seat and makes her way to her room. Her steak slips out of the bag but she doesn’t even stop to pick it up, rushing upstairs, her heart racing and her eyes becoming wet. Draco always gets her flowers, there’s no way he wouldn’t have sent them. She doesn’t even want to think that she’s not getting them this year. She rummages through her stuff for a card from last year, and texts them her order number. [Your package has been delivered.] They text back in a few minutes. She feels a little better. Her light and joy cannot forget what today is. She knew he wouldn’t. She mindlinks her mom this time around, maybe someone else got the package at the house and not her. “The package has been delivered mom. Are you sure no one got it?” From her vision, she can see her mom looking at her dad and her mom is chewing her lower lip, something she only does when she’s done something she believes is wrong. “What happened to my flowers, mom?” Raven asks sternly, feeling a tinge of annoyance in her heart. “Your father….he— look honey—” “What did dad do?” Raven cuts her off sharply, her breath rising and falling. “He trashed them,” her mom replies, dropping the link. “How could you?!” She mindlinks her dad immediately, yelling at him. He knows how important those flowers are to her, how much she looks forward to getting them every year. “Why don’t you come home and do something about it?” He replies harshly, “no one has seen you in years, you choose to stay in that college miles away from us, from home, from everyone.” “That has nothing to do with my flowers, you have no right to throw my stuff away.” Draco’s flowers are the highlight of her day and he just ruined it. Why? Why would he do this? “You need to forget about him, Raven.” “He’s my fated mate,” she growls, feeling so much anger at her dad. “He’s your fated mate. Yes, but he’s also fucking dead. Wake up!” He yells back. His words hit her like a rocket and tears start to pour down her eyes. She grabs the bag of wine and throws it far across the room, yelling in rage before she breaks down in tears.Later that evening, Royce drives to his shoe factory on the outskirts of town. He walks through the factory floor, nodding at some of his men who are hanging around, before heading to a hidden entrance behind some gigantic shoe boxes. He opens the door and walks through. It leads down to a basement that is originally in the storage room, but he has converted it into something way more useful. The underground lab is small, but it has everything that he needs, state of the art equipment that is probably better than what they have at the university. In the middle of the room, Scott is hunched over a desk with Raven's journal spread out in front of him. He looks nervous as usual and keeps pushing his glasses up his nose. "How’s it going?" Royce asks. Scott jumps at his voice, snapping his gaze to him. "I have been looking at her methods, comparing them with the professor's formula. It's similar, but there are distinct changes." "If you want to ever see the sunlight again, you’d do
Letting another man into her life is letting him into her body, her soul, her spirit and Draco has his prints all over all of them, she just doesn’t know how to wipe it out or if she can.To have loved a man way before you understood what love or romance is and for that same man to have been your fated mate, the one you were created specifically for is not something you discard so easily.Despite the professor's threat, she has been going to her classes as normal but making sure to avoid anything related to the professor or the lab and she doesn’t attend his classes. She has not been to the private lab too, mainly because she feels embarrassed by her actions, and she thinks that Royce might be mad at her or something, she hasn’t seen him since she left his house the next day after the incident. She is afraid that she might bump into him, and she doesn't know how she will address her runaway exit when she does. That night, she had thought she was ready to forget about Draco and move on
"This looks nice." Raven's eyes sweep over the living room that she has spent the whole afternoon fixing up. She had moved the heavy table from the kitchen to the middle of the space and covered it with a tablecloth she had found in the hall closet. Everything is nicely set, and every scented candle shows her nervous face back at her. It is pretty, and it is for Royce. "Will he like it?" she thinks with a slight frown. Her wolf has been happy all day, watching her movements as she got the place ready. "Yes, he will love it," her wolf replies with optimism. Raven lets out a nervous breath and suddenly feels tears come to her eyes. She is not sure if letting Draco go is something she can actually do, but she doesn’t see the harm in giving Royce a chance. Her wolf feels good from her words. "Royce is our mate and only wants to see you happy. As long as he's here, he will take care of everything." Her wolf echoes the same words she has been using to convince herself. Raven let
“A private lab?” Raven’s eyes sweep over the lab that would have taken a lot of money to fund. Everything is the best of its kind and every surface reflects her image back at her. It is magnificent, and it is hers? “Is this for me?” she asks in disbelief. Royce’s gaze has been on her all along, following her eyes as they examine the place. “Yes, for you,” he confirms with a charming smile. Raven lets out an excited shriek and unexpectedly jumps into his arms for a hug. “Thank you, thank you.” Royce revels in her touch but is slightly amused by her reaction. Letting out a chuckle, he returns the embrace. “You don't have to thank me. I only want to see you happy, and as long as I'm here, you don't have to worry about anything.” He promises with a serious tone. Raven does not seem to register his words, saying thank you again before getting distracted by admiring the lab again. She takes the first step forward, her fingers trailing over the surface as she slowly walks around
Raven feels her heart drop to her stomach as the car disappears out of view. "There she is, catch her!" She is startled by the voice and only needs a glance to find the men rushing towards her. She cannot give up now. Who are these men and why are they after her? The men seem to have bad intentions for her and she isn’t going to wait around to find out. Turning in a random direction, she runs to avoid their grip, zigzagging between the two men. "Don't let her out of your sight!" She hears one of the men demand behind her but she doesn’t turn around to check which it is. Although unlikely, if she can lose track of the men, then she will be able to escape. But how is she going to do that? Despite her wolf's speed, these men are fast and they are right at her heel. She knows that it would only take a few slower paces for them to catch up with her. Knowing that she cannot have that, she pumps her legs to run faster. Her luck seems to run out when she trips on a pebble, and trie
A few seconds after the door shuts, Raven lets out a breath before glancing at the drug in her hands. Now that Draco has given her the all clear, she feels free to focus on the task at hand.Even more, she wants to achieve her results as soon as possible. That look of admiration she had caught in his eyes, she wants to see it again. The sooner she gets the test results, the more likely that she will. All along she has been wondering why the moon goddess has chosen to throw Draco back in her life only to turn it upside down. Now, she is beginning to see that maybe there are bigger things in place.A bigger purpose for her to fulfill.Draco is just the push she has needed all the while. So she moves back to her workstation very quickly. This test is something she is very familiar with because she has done it several times, trying to determine the sufficient amount of wolfsbane extract for each solution. This would be a breeze in comparison.Although it requires focus as the slightest mi
