ALEXA

I spent some more time with my dad, but I could barely concentrate fully as I kept thinking about the car gift.

I wasn’t a teenager anymore, but I was very excited.

That wasn’t what I had even put in any of my plans because I just didn’t see the need for it, but being gifted a car by my dad just made me feel very happy. It was even more than the car gift.

It was the fact that it had been something that he planned with my mum, and now, he eventually got to do it.

“You and Mark are still going to continue working on the company until it is back on its feet, right?” My dad had asked.

“Yes, yes!” I had responded before hurrying out of the boardroom.

“Congratulations on your car, Miss Alexa,” Reyna had also said when I got to the reception.

It was obvious that she knew about it, and I wondered slightly if Mark had also been aware, but none of that mattered to me.

By the time I drove out of the company, I was filled with excitement and thrill. I could barely contain it.

MARK“I know for a fact that Alexa did not sign the company off to that bastard,” I said to Vector. “I can bet my life on that. She would never do something like that,” I added.“I know that too, Mark, but right now, there is little or nothing we can do about it,” Vector said.My veins tightened with rage, and it was even more upsetting because I couldn’t do anything to Donald Shell. Alexa wasn’t making things easy for me.“I warned her about that jerk, Matty Farm, or whatever the heck his name is,” I said through clenched teeth.“Now is not the time for you to say that to her hearing, Mark,” Vector cautioned carefully.“I wasn’t going to do that,” I retorted.“Besides, she is going through something worse right now,” he said. And almost immediately, I knew that it was beyond what I just ready, and I began to wonder if there was more to what I read. I had become more enraged to even read to the end of the news. The highlight was enough for me.“What are you talking about?” I asked.“H

MARKA call from Vector woke me up, making me grumble with annoyance.“Isn’t it too early to be calling anyone?” I asked when I eventually picked up the call.I knew that if I didn’t pick up, Vector would probably continue calling, and now that he had interrupted my sleep, I wouldn’t be able to go back to it.“It’s already past seven in the morning, Mark,” Vector said.I checked my clock on my bedside table and realized that Vector was right. I must have slept off too deeply to even hear when my alarm went off, and that was because I hadn’t slept well like this in a really long time.“And usually, you should be up and getting ready to go to your company by now,” Vector added.I sat up straighter on my bed and wiped my eyes.“I own the company, Vector, and I still have the right to whatever it is that I want to do, and I can go there whenever I want,” I reminded Vector.“You and I know that you are not that kind of CEO,” Vector said.“Okay, now that you have succeeded in waking me up,

ALEXAI didn’t think that I would be able to sleep in my apartment, but I did. There was the nightmare about Donald Shell, taunting me again, but I had woken up just when he wanted to attack me, and I didn’t sleep for the rest of the night. It had been almost morning anyway, so I didn’t bother much about going back to bed.I had stayed up until morning, trying to think about what to do with the outfits in my possession so that I could refund the clients who withdrew their contracts.Again, I didn’t want them to sue me for not refunding them; that would only create worse scandals.By morning, I was sighing with relief, and I almost felt the urge to throw myself a party for surviving the night regardless of the nightmare.I hadn’t had a choice but to sleep in my apartment, as I couldn’t show up at Gina’s apartment anymore. The cop had been changed, and so what was the worst that could happen?“Good morning, Miss Alexa?” Shirley, my secretary, greeted me as she came into my living room.

MARK“Are you sure that you don’t want to contend that restraining order?” Vector asked me as we made our way into a restaurant. It was a little late, but I wanted to just be somewhere else that wasn’t my house.I felt that way hours ago when I became exhausted from holding interviews, and according to the plan, I should have been with Alexa right now, but she hadn’t allowed that to happen.Vector had suggested Dancing Devils after Brent left.“How dare you suggest that club to me?” I had asked Vector with unmasked anger.“What’s wrong with going there?” Vector had asked innocently. “We used to hang out there a lot, and now that he has it back, it was back to working in full swing,” he had added. But it was when Vector said the last statement that realization hit him.“Oh, I am so sorry, Mark, I didn’t think of it like that,” Vector had gone on to apologize.“Of course you didn’t,” I had responded tightly. There was no way I would find myself in the club of a man who cowardly backed o

IVY“Hey, you,” she called with a sneer. It was the bitter nurse again, but I was almost getting used to her nasty attitude. It was time for my doctor’s appointment, and I was ready and eager…so eager that I was finding it hard to even act like I wasn’t.Thankfully, Lina Barry hadn’t been to my room for about two days now, and I hadn’t been to hers, otherwise she would have bombarded me with questions as to why I seemed eager and excitement to go for my appointment.Everyone here, including the really insane ones, hated that time of the week, and so it would become suspicious if Lina Barry or anyone else realized that I was beginning to look forward to it.I walked to the nurse, ready to hear that it was time for my doctor’s appointment. I knew it was time anyway; I had been waiting for this moment since I woke up today.“Come with me,” she responded.“What for?” I asked her. This wasn’t the regular statement that she would make when she came to call me for my doctor’s appointment, so

MARKI didn’t think that trying to get a new secretary could be this difficult. In the last two hours, I couldn’t even find any of the candidates I could stand.“Are there no competent people in this city?” I asked in exasperation. The day was almost coming to a close, and I still didn’t get anyone suitable that would resume the next day and continue from where my former secretary stopped.I called the hiring department again.“I have had enough for one day,” I said, rubbing my temple with my thumb as I began to feel the beginning of a migraine. “More than ten candidates and not a single one came close,” I added.“We are sorry about that, Mr. Mark,” she responded.“Maybe tomorrow, but for today, I can’t stand another incompetent human being,” I added.“Alright, Mr. Mark. We will ensure that we send better candidates tomorrow,” she said.“I would love that,” I responded.“Do have a lovely evening, Mr. Mark,” she said before I ended the call.“Good heavens!” I exclaimed in total exhaust
