I was pacing in my room, fully dressed and mentally was preparing myself for tonight’s activities. I was wearing a simple flowy dress, with thigh-high boots and my favorite hat. I heard the doorbell chime, and contemplated on just sneaking out my bedroom window. I groaned knowing that I wouldn’t do anything to upset Dom again, gathered up my purse then walked down to the foyer. Standing there was Koa, he had his black leather jacket flung over his shoulder and was dressed in a snug, white v-neck tee, dark jeans and black converse.
He watched me closely as I descended the stairs, my brothers’ backs facing me. Dom followed Koa’s gaze and when his eyes fell on me, he smiled and gave a small nod before turning his attention back to Koa, “Take special care of my sister. I may have known you for a fairly long time, but I will not hesitate to kill you if something happens to her. Understand me?” Koa smiled, giving a small confidant nod and Dom chuckled before dragging the other two out of the room. Koa met me at the bottom of the stairs, with his hand outreached, I carefully rested my hand in his.
Interlocking his fingers with mine, he led me out the front door. I stood in shock when I laid eyes on the sleek, black motorcycle. He noticed my actions but mistook them for fear. “Don’t tell me you’re afraid to get on the bike now that we’ve grown up.” He chuckled and I swatted at his arm with a playful glare.
“No. I just can’t believe that you still have this thing!” I tried my best to hide the excitement. He grinned and, taking my hand again, walked over to the bike. He swung his leg over so that he was now straddling the seat.
“Well come on then.” He held out his hand as a sweet gesture. I took his hand then swung my leg over as well. There was a small gap between us until he grabbed my legs, just above the knees, and pulled me closer. I felt my heart begin rapidly beating against my ribcage. “You heard Dominick’s words. I can’t let anything happen to you.” He smirked, then took my hands into his. He wrapped them snuggly around his waist, then turned the bike on and began the trek to the restaurant.
The ride went faster than I would have liked but he took my hand and led us into a dim-lighted, fancy restaurant. Once we were seated, Koa looked at me with a forlorn expression. “What’s wrong?” I asked, taking a sip of water. I glanced up at him through my thick lashes. I could tell he had something that he wanted to say but he was struggling to find a way to say it.
“I know you didn’t want to come tonight, but I’m glad you did.” I peeked up at him through my long, false lashes again. I was trying to hide the surprised reaction that his comment had brought. “I also know that you met Thomas earlier today.” I almost choked on my breath that I had quickly inhaled. “What all did he tell you?”
“Why does your father need my family’s help?” I countered cautiously. Koa sighed with a debating look gracing his features.
“I had to make a choice. Now the only ones who can help me are your family. More specifically your mother and Dominick.” I looked up at him, raising my brow skeptically. “I wasn’t going to lose you more than I already had. I knew it would be easier for me to get my father back but if they had hurt you, I would rather die myself.” He whispered so that only I could hear him. To be honest, I’m not even sure that he intended for me to hear the last bit of his comment.
“So you really did practically just hand over your father to the people who-who--” I couldn’t bring myself to finish the statement. Losing my dad was hard enough and knowing now that he was murdered due to the business that my family took part in, made that pain all that much worse. Koa nodded hesitantly, averting his eyes down towards the menu that he was holding in his hands.
“I had no choice. Not really.” His voice was rough and monotone. I reached across the table and gently took the menu out of his hands. His eyes finally lifted so that he was looking into my eyes.
“Why wouldn’t you just give me to them? I could’ve taken care of myself. Not to mention, you told me that you never loved me. Don’t you remember? After you said that, you said I was just a fling and nothing more.” I began calm and quietly but ended upI hissing angrily at him by the end of my speech. I glared over at him while he sat quietly, patiently waiting for me to finish my rant.
“I lied in order to protect you.” Was his only statement due to the waitress coming over to the table. She was ogling him as she brazenly flirted with him in front of me, I simply rolled my eyes. “What is it that you want, love?” I was shocked as he looked into my eyes, completely ignoring the gorgeous waitress. ‘What was he trying to do?’ I released a quiet exhale.
“Just the steak and garlic potatoes please.” I quietly spoke and then watched again as the waitress pouted due to Koa blatantly dismissing her. After the beautiful young woman walked away, I looked over at him imploringly. “You do realize that you just broke that poor girl’s gold-digging heart, right?” I asked, stifling a chuckle. He raised a brow at me while pursing his lips momentarily.
Koa shrugged simply and stated, “I have no eyes for anyone else. I’ve already told you this earlier today.” I gasped slightly and turned my eyes towards my small glass of water. “Eira,” Koa began. I kept my eyes trained on the glass, somewhat nervous of what he wanted to say to me. I heard him let out a quiet growl in frustration, then he was standing beside me. He placed his finger under my chin and forced me to look up into his deep blue eyes.
“Koa what the hell are you doing?” I whisper-shouted. “Sit d--” My words were cut off as he lowered to my level and planted his lips against mine. The kiss was passionate and I began to kiss him back when he shifted into the booth that I was sitting in. We finally pulled apart, my breathing slightly heavier due to the impromptu makeout session. Koa briefly looked upset when he had to pull back from me when the food was being brought out to our table.
I desperately tried to relax my breathing while he looked completely calm and put together. He smirked while I began sipping at my cold water quickly. “I should have never left you, my Mafia Princess.” His voice was deep and smooth. I looked up at him, bewildered.
Recap: “You’re right it’s not. It’s safer. It means I know my twin brother won’t ever leave me. It means that you also keep everyone else safe and aware using the God given skills that you have.” I felt the familiar stinging behind my eyes causing me to look down at my hands. The next thing I know, I was pulled into one of the tightest hugs that I had felt in a long time. I broke down then, bawling and gasping for breath while hiding my face into my twin brother’s shoulder. “I’m sorry E. I—I didn’t think of it like that…” I nodded at his hushed words while he slowly rubbed circles on my back. Once I was able to pull myself back together, I sat beside him on the cot until he fell asleep and Koa came to talk to me. —--------------------------- He motioned for me to follow him out of the room, which I agreed to. “He apparently went with Isaac and Landon to help on a recon mission. You can’t react if you want to know all of the details, do you understand?” I rolled my eyes at my husba
Recap: “I can be okay with that.” I walked up to him so that I could wrap my arms around his waist and rest my head against his chest. He pulled me in closer while resting his cheek on the top of my head. “Thank you.” He whispered against my hair. I looked up at him with a mischievous grin causing him to look at me questioningly. “What are you thinking?” Instead of giving him a verbal response, I slid my hands to the buttons on his shirt before undoing them. He chuckled before lifting me and carrying me into a luxurious bedroom for our first time as a married couple. —------------------------------- Our honeymoon was filled with different adventures and experiences. On our last day of the honeymoon, I finally convinced him to go swimming in the ocean with me. “Babe, is this really necessary? You know I don’t care for swimming let alone for swimming with fish.” I chuckled at his panicked expression. “You’re the big bad hitman but afraid of fish?” I teased him, causing him to give a
Recap: “Let’s do it.” I grinned while standing on my tiptoes so that I could kiss his lips. Once everyone was done eating their food it was time to cut the cake. Koa and I grinned at each other as we were each handed a piece. Azzie was standing next to me and Ethan was standing next to Koa. We moved in like we were going to get each other with the pieces of cake, but at the last second I smashed my piece of wedding cake into Ethan’s face while Koa did Azzie’s. The room erupted into fits of laughter while our second hands looked shocked. The rest of the night was filled with laughter and dancing. Our DJ asked everyone to leave the room so that Koa and I could have one last dance before the wedding was completely finished, giving us a moment to catch our breath. —-------------------------- I was surprised when Koa did not go back to the penthouse or even stay at my family’s house but instead drove to the airport. “What are we doing here?” I turned in the front seat to get a better loo
Recap:Forming a cross over where my heart was located, I spoke, “I promise. I will do as I’m told just this once.” He chuckled while shaking his head. I tossed my head back as laughter slipped through my lips. “You know that’s one of the reasons that you love me.” I smirked as our eyes met, our expressions becoming more serious. He gave a wolfish grin while nodding slowly before pulling me into him.“That and so much more, little Dawn.” He chuckled, planting a swift kiss on my temple before holding me tightly. “I’m so sorry for all of this though.” I nodded while rubbing his back gently.“I know.” I whispered.—--------------------The day has finally come for the wedding. It has definitely been a stressful week leading up to this day but now here I am standing in front of the mirror taking in my reflection. I turned towards the door when a light tap sounded from the wood before my sister walked in. “You look amazing, E!” She gushed causing me to give a slight nod. “You doing okay?”
Recap: “Then do not ever, and I mean ever, lie to me again.” I warned before standing up to join the rest of my family. Before leaving the living room I turned back towards him, speaking up, “Now you can either come be a part of us or you can sit out here by yourself. If it were up to me though, I’d be making you get off your arse and follow me back to the rest of our families.” He nodded, standing up, quickly grabbing my hand in his. I nodded and began to walk, but he pulled me in closer to him. He brushed his thumb across my cheek before pulling me in for a brief but sweet kiss on the lips. —------------------------- The wedding was this next Saturday so there was a lot occurring at the family house at the moment. The setup for the celebration was looking gorgeous and the weather was fairly comfortable so that the wedding shouldn’t run into any hiccups since it was being held outside.
