Chapter-8: In The Moment (Subaru POV)

Today is the first day of school. Wonder what kind of people I am going to meet? I thought as I yawned, trying to rub the sleep from my eyes. Maki was walking right beside me, talking about this and that.

My heart wasn't much into it because, as you know, all that anxiety and nervousness are whacking my brain and making me restless.

I was too sleepy to even notice that Maki was calling out to me.

"Hey! heads up, sleepy head, we are almost there! ", She slapped my back so hard that I nearly stumbled towards a pole.

I looked back at her irritatedly and said, "Watch it, you! I would have broken a tooth or two!"

"Oh, sorry ", she said, looking at me apologetically. "It's just that you were spacing out, so I decided to give you a nice pat."

If you could call a pat, that is, you idiot. I flashed an annoying look at her. She was laughing at me as if nothing had happened. She can be such a pain. Even my peaceful morning got disturbed just because of her. Well, let me tell you what happened.
